The SRS includes the following components:
Only when the operation mode of the powerswitch is in ON, the airbags will operate.The airbags deployment produces a sudden,loud noise, and releases some smoke andpowder, but these conditions are not injuri-ous, and do not indicate a fire in the vehicle.People with respiratory problems may feelsome temporary irritation from chemicalsused to produce the deployment; open thewindows after airbag deployment, if safe todo so.The airbags deflate very rapidly after deploy-ment, so there is little danger of obscuredvision.

WA R N I N GzIT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO BE PROP-ERLY SEATED.A driver or front passenger too close tothe steering wheel or instrument panelduring airbag deployment can be killed orseriously injured.Airbags inflate very
fast, and with great
force.If the driver and front passenger are notproperly seated and restrained, the air-bags may not protect you properly, andcould cause serious or fatal injuries whenit inflates.WA R N I N GzDo not sit on the edge
of the seat, or sit
with your lower legs too close to theinstrument panel, or lean head or chestclose to the steering wheel or instrumentpanel. Do not put feet or legs on or againstthe instrument panel.zPlace all infants and small children in therear seat and properly restrained using anappropriate child restraint system.The rear seat is the safest for infants andchildren.

There is a supplemental restraint system(“SRS”) warning lamp on the instrumentpanel. The system checks itself every time theoperation mode of the power switch is put inON. The SRS warning lamp will come on forseveral seconds and then go out. This is nor-mal and means the system is working prop-erly.If there is a problem involving one or more ofthe SRS components, the warning lamp willcome on and stay on. At the same time, thewarning display will appear on the informa-tion screen in the mu
lti information display.
The SRS warning lamp/display is shared bythe SRS airbag and the seat belt pre-tensionersystem.

they may not function
properly in a colli-
sion or may suddenly
activate without a

WA R N I N GzWe re commend any main tenanc e per-formed on or near the components of theSRS to be performed by a MITSUBISHIMOTORS Authorised Service Point.Improper work on the SRS components orwiring could result in inadvertent deploy-ment of the airbags,
or could render the
SRS inoperative; either situation couldresult in serious injury.
zDo not modify your steering wheel, seatbelt retractor or any other SRS compo-nents. For example, replacement of thesteering wheel, or modifications to thefront bumper or body structure (forexample fitment of a frontal protectionbar, including roo bars and bull barsexcept approved MITSUBISHI MOTORSGENUINE accessory parts) can adverselyaffect SRS performance and lead to possi-ble injury.zIf your vehicle has received any damage,we recommend you to have the SRSinspected to ensure it is in proper workingorder.zDo not modify your front seats, centre pil-lar and centre console.It can adversely affect SRS performanceand lead to possible injury.zIf you found any tear, scratch, crack ordamage to the portion where the airbag isstored, you should h
ave the SRS inspected

Insert the keyless operation key into the keyslot. Starting the Plug-in Hybrid EV Systemand changing the operation mode should benow possible. Remove the keyless operation key from thekey slot after starting the Plug-in Hybrid EVSystem or changing the operation mode.

WA R N I N GzNever stop Plug-in Hybrid EV Systemduring running except in emergency. Theeffectiveness of the brake becomes verypoor and the steering wheel becomes veryheavy, which can easily lead to an acci-dent.NOTE
zDo not operate the pow
er switch during run-
ning except in emergency. If you have to stopPlug-in Hybrid EV System in emergencyduring running, continue
to press the power
switch for three seconds or longer or pressthe power switch three times or morequickly. Plug-in Hybrid EV System stops,the operation mode turns to ACC, and theselector lever position shifts to the “P” posi-tion at very slow speed.zIf you press the power switch when theselector lever position is other than “P” posi-tion while your vehicle is stopped, the selec-tor lever position automatically shifts to “P”position, Plug-in Hybrid EV System stops,and the power mode turns to “OFF”.
zIf the parking lock mechanism is faulty, awarning is displayed on the informationscreen in the multi-information display.When this warning is displayed, Plug-inHybrid EV System ca
nnot be stopped unless
you apply the parking brake and then pressthe power switch. Park on a flat place withthe parking brake securely applied. Haveyour vehicle inspected by a MITSUBISHIMOTORS Authorised Service Point.

The left-right differential limiting function isa function that enhances driving performanceand vehicle stability by preventing idle spin-ning of a wheel when driving on slipperyroad or when the road surfaces of left andright wheels are different.The yaw control function is a function thatenhances vehicle cornering performance andvehicle stability with management of vehicleturning power (yaw moment) by controllingthe braking force when the vehicle does notturn in response to steering input, such aswhen the steering wheel is turned quickly orwhen driving on slippery road.

If the 4WD lock switch is pressed when thepower mode is “ON”, it will switch to “4WDLOCK.” It can use from a low-speed to high-speedoperation, and the driving stability improveson a wet road surface or a snowy road, etc. If the 4WD lock switch is pressed once again,it will return to “NORMAL.”. When the 4WD LOCK mode is activated, theabove display appears on the informationscreen in the multi-information display forsome seconds.

The power steering system operates while thePlug-in Hybrid EV System is operating.It helps reduce the effort needed to turn thesteering wheel.The power steering system has mechanicalsteering capability in case the power assist islost. If the power assist
is lost for some rea-
son, you will still be able to steer your vehi-cle, but you will notice it takes much moreeffort to steer. If this happens, have your vehi-cle inspected at a MITSUBISHI MOTORSAuthorised Service Point.
If there is a malfunction in the system, thewarning display will appear on the informa-tion screen in the multi information display.

WA R N I N GzDo not stop the Plug-in Hybrid EV Systemwhile the vehicle is moving. Stopping thePlug-in Hybrid EV System would makethe steering wheel extremely hard to turn,possibly resulting in an accident.
NOTE
zDuring repeated full-lock turning of thesteering wheel (for example, while you aremanoeuvring the vehicle into a parkingspace), a protection function may be acti-vated to prevent overheating of the powersteering system. This function will make thesteering wheel gradually harder to turn. Inthis event, limit your turning of the steeringwheel for a while. When the system hascooled down, the steering effort will returnto normal.zIf you turn the steering wheel while the vehi-cle is stationary with the headlamps on, theheadlamps may become dim. This behaviouris not abnormal. The headlamps will returnto their original brightness after a shortwhile.

The Speed Limiter is a driver assist functionto prevent from exceeding the speed set bydriver while Plug-in Hybrid EV Systempower control.If the vehicle speed exceeds the set speed(about 3 km/h), the indicator will brink in thecombination meter.If the vehicle speed exceeds the set speedabout +3 km/h more than about 5 secondsafter indicated alert message, beep alert issounded for about 10 seconds at the most.While running without alert message, if youdecrease the set speed and vehicle speed ismore than set speed about +3 km/h, alert mes-sage is displayed but beep alert is delayed.In this case, when vehicle speed keepsexceeding set speed about +3 km/h for about30 seconds after the alert message isappeared, beep alert is sounded for about 10seconds at the most.
If the vehicle speeds decreases less than setspeeds after the alert message is appeared, themessage is disappeared. When beep alert issounding, the beep alert also goes off.
