Kasivalintainen vaihteisto
Vaihdekaava on merkitty vaihdetangon nuppiin. Paina kytkinpoljin pohjaan
saakka joka kerran vaihtaessasi. Viitos­
vaihteelta peruutusvaihteelle vaihtaes­
sasi siirra vaihde ensin
N-asentoon (va­paalle) ja sitten peruutusvaihteelle .
& VAROITUS Ala koskaan vaihda peruutusvaih­teelle auton ·liikkuessa eteenpain;
se
vahingoittaa vaihteistoa.
NOTE
The knob should be pulled out to the extent that it returns less
then about 10 mm (0. 4 in.) from the fully pulled out position. If the knob doesn't move freely enough, or returns more than 10 mm (0.4 in.), adjust by turning the holder cap.
& CAUTION Never attempt to adjust the vehicle during driving by using the control knob.

The shift pattern is shown on the gear ­shift lever knob. Be sure to always fully depress the clutch pedal before attempt­ing to shift the lever. To shift into revers e from 5th gear, move the gearshift lever to the "N" position,
and then shift it into reverse .
& CAUTION Do not move the gearshift lever into reverse while the vehicle is
moving forward; doing so will damage the transmission .

Passing acceleration EI04F-Bb For quick acceleration when passing, depressing the accelera­tor pedal all the way to the floor will cause the transmission to automatically shift from 4th gear to 3rd gear, from 3rd gear to 2nd gear or from 2nd gear to 1 st gear, in accordance with the driving speed, without having to move the selector lever from either the "D" or "2" position.
Waiting EI04G-Bb For short waiting periods such as at traffic lights, the vehicle
can be left in gear and held stationary with the service brake.
For longer waiting periods with the engine running, the selector
lever should be placed in the "N" position.
& CAUTION Never hold the vehicle stationary while in gear on a hill with the accelerator; always apply the parking brake and/or service brake. .
Parking EI04H·B To park the vehicle, first bring it to a complete stop, fully engage the parking brake, and then move the selector lever to the "P" position. If you are going to leave the vehicle unattended, always switch off the engine and remove the ignition key.

& CAUTION (1) 00 not touch heating element or lighter housing. hold at the knob only. (2) Something is wrong with the cigarette lighter if it does not pop back out within approximately 30 seconds of being pushed in. Leaving the cigarette lighter pushed in for an extended period could cause a fire. If it does not pop out by itself. pull it out and have the problem corrected at an autho­rized MITSUBISHI dealer.
(3) Do not leave the cigarette lighter pushed down nor insert the cigarette lighter removed from other vehicle. Otherwise. the lighter may overheat and cause a fire.

Winding up the cable tJ04D·A
Either attach the hook to a tree or other firmly planted object. or have someone hold it. Wind up the cable by following the same
procedure as that given in the "Winding
the winch" section .
NOTE
If the length of cable to be wound is long , stop several times during the winding process and confirm that there
are no gaps in the cable as it is wound around the drum . If there are any gaps,
the cable will not be wound properly.

& CAUTION In order to wind up the cable, ap­ply some tension to the cable by pulling on it within the angle shown in the figure, otherwise the cable will be wound in between the previous winds and may hurt the cable or unwinding may be­come difficult. Do not allow the winding speed to increase excessively. If a person is holding the hook, wind up the ca­ble with special care to avoid ac­cidents.

Cleaning the Sunroof* EK30A -A
Clean the inside of the sunroof with a soft cloth. Hard deposits should be wiped away with a cloth dipped in warm, neutral
detergent solution. Wipe away the solution with a sponge dipped in fresh water.
NOTE
The surface treatment on the inside
of the glass may be
removed if hard cloth or organic solvent (benzine , thinner, etc.) is used.
Washing the canvas top* EK02B-A.
Wash the top with water and a soft nylon brush or something similar. Wash the window sections with a sponge. If dirt or mud cannot be washed off in this way, use a 0.1 % concentration of household laundry powder in water and a cloth to scrub lightly, and then wash with plain water again. If laundry powder is used, rinse thoroughly; be sure that none of the soap remains
on the top. If soap does remain on the top, it could cause
cracking and/or discolouration.
NOTE Always sprinkle water from above .
& CAUTION (1) Do not use any type of soap or detergent other than household laundry powder, and do not use concen­trations higher than 0.1 %. Under no circumstances should alcohol. paint thinner, etc., be used.

Jack handle
Remove the jack handle from the holder and take out the handle.
Jacking up the vehicle EN22A·C
The method for jacking up the vehicle should be remembered in order to change a tyre in the event of a puncture and in order to install tyre chains.
Position the vehicle on a level and firm
surface. Stop the engine, apply the park ­
ing brake and block the wheels with chocks.
Position the jack only at the specified points illustrated ; use of the jack at other points cou ld damage the vehicle body.
