When disassembling the disc brakes, disassemble both sides
(left and right) as a set.
PISTON BOOT/PISTON REMOVAL
Pump in compressed air through the brake hose insta llation
hole and remove the pistons and piston boot.
Caution
When removing the pistons, be sure to use the handl e
of a
hammer and adjust the height of the two
pistons while pumping in air
protrude evenly.
Do not remove one piston before trying to
remove the other piston because

DISASSEMBLY SERVICE POINTS
When disassembling the disc brakes, disassemble bot h sides
(left and right) as a set.
PISTON BOOT/PISTON REMOVAL
Protect caliper body with cloth. Blow compressed air through
brake hose to remove piston boot and piston.
Caution
Blow compressed air gently.
PISTON SEAL REMOVAL
(1) Remove piston seal with finger tip.
Caution
Do not use a flat-tipped screwdriver or other tool to
prevent damage to inner cylinder.
( 2 ) C l e a n p i s t o n s u r f a c e a n d i n n e r c y l i n d e r w i t h trichloro-ethylene, alcohol or specified brake flui d.

(1) Apply grease to the inside of the

STEERING LOCK LOCK
CYLINDER REMOVAL
If it is necessary to remove the steering lock cylinder, use
a hacksaw to cut the special steering lock bracket
side.
REASSEMBLY SERVICE POINTS
STEERING LOCK CYLINDER/STEERING LOCK
BRACKET/SPECIAL BOLT INSTALLATION
(1)When installing the steering lock and steering lock bracket
to the column tube, temporarily install the steering lock
in alignment with the column boss.
(2) After checking that the lock works properly, ti ghten the
special bolts until the head twists off.
Caution
The steering lock bracket and bolts must be replace d
with new ones when the steering lock is installed.

INNER COVER
Cover the inside lip of the inner cover pull
the outside of the cover’ onto the joint.
BEARING INSTALLATION
(1)‘ Fill the inside of the bearing grease.
(2) Install the bearings

(3) Wrap plastic tape approximately

BOOT INSTALLATION
Apply grease to the inside of the lip section of th e boot,
and then install the boot to the joint.

lCheck the joint bearing for wear and
lCheck the dust shield for damage.

lCheck the boots for damage, cracking or deteriorati on.
Check the rack support for uneven wear or dents.
lCheck the rack bushing for uneven wear or damage.
