Background
lThe speed sensor serves as a PCM input switching voltage between 0 and 5volts.lOnce the vehicle is in motion and the throttle is open, information from the sensor is
sampled every 11 milliseconds and compared to a min imum threshold equal to 1 mph.
lIf the sensors output voltage indicates a speed higher than this threshold, the sensor
is considered to be operating normally.
lFailure of the sensor would be quite noticeable bec ause the speedometer would fail tooperate.Diagnostic features that depend on the speed sensor may never execute if this component
fails.

l The MAP sensor is mounted to intake manifold vacuum .
lThis information provides an important PCM input fo r determining fuel injector pulse wide.lThe sensor should measure a difference in manifold pressure between key ON and after
the engine is running.

l Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) memory is not deleted even after the ignition switch is
turned off.

lThe crankshaft position sensor is a Hall-effect sensor that provides a voltage signal to
the PCM.
l Voltage alternates between 0 and 5 volts as the cra nkshaft turns.
lThis DTC would indicate a failure of the sensoror its circuit.
Range of Check
l The test is run at start-up.
l Camshaft position sensor indicates that the camshaf t is rotating.
Set Condition
l Crankshaft position sensor signal (High or Low) is not input.
Probable cause
l Open or shorted supply circuit
l Open sensor ground
