tervals for this component. Brake pads
Brake wear depends on the
style of driving, particularly in
the case of vehicles used in
town, over short distances. It
may be necessary to have the
condition of the brakes checked, even
between vehicle services.
Unless there is a leak on the circuit, a
d r o p i n t h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l i n d i c a t e s
that the brake pads are worn.
Parking brake
If the parking brake travel is
too long or if you notice a loss
of effectiveness of this sys-
tem, the parking brake must
be adjusted, even between
two services.
This system must be checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Automatic gearbox
The gearbox does not re-
quire any maintenance (no oil
change).

cated on the cartridge
The sealant cartridge is designed
for single use; even if only partly
used, it must be replaced.
To remove the cartridge, unscrew it
completely at its cap and pull off.
After use, do not discard the car-
tridge into the environment, take
it to an authorised waste disposal
site or a PEUGEOT dealer.
Do not forget to obtain a new sealant
cartridge, available from PEUGEOT
dealers.
Connect the compressor's electric
plug to the vehicle's 12 V socket.
Start the vehicle again and leave the
engine running.
Adjust the pressure using the compres-
s o r ( t o i n fl a t e : s w i t c h B in position "1" ;
t o d e fl a t e : s w i t c h B in position "0" and
press button E ) , i n a c c o r d a n c e w i t h t h e
vehicle's tyre pressure label (located
o n t h e l e f t h a n d d o o r a p e r t u r e ) .
A loss of pressure indicates that the puncture has not been fully plugged;
contact a PEUGEOT dealer for as-
sistance.
Remove and stow the kit.
Visit a PEUGEOT dealer as
soon as possible.
After inspection of the tyre, a technician will be able to advise
you whether the tyre can be re-
paired or must be replaced.
Drive at reduced speed (50 mph

CHANGING A WHEEL *
Procedure for changing a faulty wheel
for the spare wheel using the tools pro-
vided with the vehicle.
The tools are installed in the boot under
t h e fl o o r .

support,
r e m o v e t h e b o x c o n t a i n i n g t h e
tools.

1. Wheelbrace.
For removing the wheel trim and r e m o v i n g t h e w h e e l fi x i n g b o l t s .
2. Jack with integral handle.
For raising the vehicle.

"Bolt cover" tool.

Socket for the security bolts

Other accessories
Wheel with trim
When removing the wheel ,
d e t a c h t h e t r i m fi r s t u s i n g t h e
wheelbrace 1 pulling at the valve
passage hole.
W h e n r e fi t t i n g t h e w h e e l , r e fi t t h e
trim starting by placing its notch
facing the valve and press around
its edge with the palm of your
hand.
A l l o f t h e s e t o o l s a r e s p e c i fi c t o y o u r
vehicle. Do not use them for other
purposes.

Access to the spare wheel
(Saloon)
The spare wheel is installed in the boot
u n d e r t h e fl o o r .
To gain access to it, refer to the para-
graph "Access to the tools" on the previ-
ous page. Fitting the steel spare wheel
I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h a l -
loy wheels, it is normal to notice,
w h e n t i g h t e n i n g t h e b o l t s o n fi t t i n g ,
that the washers do not come into
contact with the steel spare wheel.
The wheel is secured by the coni-
cal contact of each bolt. Taking out the wheel
Unscrew the yellow central bolt.
Raise the spare wheel towards you
from the rear.
Take the wheel out of the boot.
Putting the wheel back in place
Put the wheel back in its housing.
Unscrew the yellow central bolt by a
few turns then put it in place in the
centre of the wheel.
Tighten fully until the central bolt
clicks to retain the wheel correctly.

Access to the spare wheel (SW)
The spare wheel is installed in the boot
u n d e r t h e fl o o r .
To gain access to it, refer to the para-
graph "Access to the tools". Fitting the steel spare wheel

Changing the sidelamp bulbs
Disconnect the main headlamp con-
nector.
Remove the plastic protective cover
by pulling on the tab.
Turn the bulb holder one quarter of
a turn and remove it.
Pull the bulb and change it.

Changing the dipped, main beam or
directional headlamp bulbs
Disconnect the main headlamp con-
nector.
Remove the corresponding plastic
protective cover by pulling on the
tab.
Disconnect the connector of the cor-
responding lamp.
Move aside the spring to release the
bulb and remove the bulb.

For replacement of these bulbs, contact
a PEUGEOT dealer.
Changing the integrated direction
indicator side repeaters
Insert a screwdriver towards the
centre of the repeater between the
repeater and the base of the mirror.
T i l t t h e s c r e w d r i v e r t o e x t r a c t t h e r e -
peater and remove the repeater.
Disconnect the repeater connector.
T o r e fi t , c a r r y o u t t h e s e o p e r a t i o n s i n r e -
verse order.
To obtain a replacement repeater, con-
tact a PEUGEOT dealer.

Changing the third brake lamp bulbs
(4 bulbs W 5 W)
P r e s s o n t h e fi x i n g p i n s o n e a c h s i d e
of the lamp.
Remove the lamp from the outside.
Turn the bulb holder which corre-
sponds to the faulty bulb one quar-
ter of a turn and remove it.
Pull the bulb and change it. Changing the number plate lamp
bulbs (W 5 W)
Insert a thin screwdriver in one of
t h e e x t e r i o r h o l e s o f t h e l e n s .
Push it towards the outside to unclip it.
Remove the lens.
Pull the bulb and change it.
T o r e fi t , c a r r y o u t t h e s e o p e r a t i o n s i n r e -
verse order.
High pressure washing
When using this type of washing
on stubborn dirt, do not persist
on the headlamps, the lamps and
their surrounds, to avoid damaging
their protective coating and seals.

TOWING THE VEHICLE
Procedure for having your vehicle towed
or for towing another vehicle using a re-
movable towing eye.
Access to the tools Towing your vehicle
On the front bumper, pull on the cov-
er to unclip it.
Screw the towing eye in fully.
Install the towing bar.
Switch on the hazard warning lamps
on the towed vehicle.
On the rear bumper, unclip the cover
by pressing at the bottom.
Screw the towing eye in fully.
Install the towing bar.
Switch on the hazard warning lamps
on the towed vehicle.
Towing another vehicle
The towing eye is stowed in the boot
u n d e r t h e fl o o r .
T o g a i n a c c e s s t o i t :
open the boot,
r a i s e t h e fl o o r ,
secure it by hooking its cord on the
hook on the rear parcel shelf support,
remove the towing eye from the
holder. When towing with all four wheels
on the ground, always use a tow-
ing bar.
When towing with only two wheels
on the ground, always use profes-
sional lifting equipment.
When towing with the engine off,
there is no longer any braking or
steering assistance.
Place the gear lever in neutral
(position N on the 2 Tronic or
a u t o m a t i c g e a r b o x ) .
Failure to comply with this special
requirement may result in damage
to certain braking components and
the absence of braking assistance

TOWING A TRAILER, A CARAVAN, ETC.
Your vehicle is primarily designed for
transporting people and luggage, but it
may also be used for towing a trailer.
Towbar suitable for the attachment of a
trailer or caravan with additional lighting
and signalling.
We recommend the use of genuine
PEUGEOT towbars and their har-
nesses that have been tested and
approved from the design stage of
y o u r v e h i c l e , a n d t h a t t h e fi t t i n g o f t h e
towbar is entrusted to a PEUGEOT
dealer.
I f t h e t r a i l e r i s n o t fi t t e d b y a P E U G E O T
d e a l e r , i t i s i m p e r a t i v e t h a t i t i s fi t t e d
using the electrical pre-equipment
installed at the rear of the vehicle, in
accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions.
The rear parking sensors will be
deactivated automatically if a gen-
uine PEUGEOT towbar is used.
We recommend that you do not
drive up onto high kerbs (risk of
d a m a g i n g y o u r v e h i c l e ) . Driving advice
Distribution of loads
Distribute the load in the trailer so
that the heaviest items are as close
a s p o s s i b l e t o t h e a x l e a n d t h e n o s e
w e i g h t a p p r o a c h e s t h e m a x i m u m
p e r m i t t e d w i t h o u t e x c e e d i n g i t .
Air density decreases with altitude, thus
reducing engine performance. Above
1 0 0 0 m e t r e s , t h e m a x i m u m t o w i n g l o a d
must be reduced by 10 % and so on for
every 1 000 metres of altitude.
Refer to the "Technical Data" section for
details of the weights and towing loads
which apply to your vehicle.
Side wind
Take into account the increased
sensitivity to side wind.
Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases
the temperature of the coolant.
As the fan is electrically controlled, its
cooling capacity is not dependent on
the engine speed.
To lower the engine speed, reduce
your speed.
Driving with a trailer subjects the towing
v e h i c l e t o m o r e s i g n i fi c a n t s t r e s s a n d i t s
driver must be particularly careful.
