5.DEF: Open circuit on the steering column lock sensor connection
6.DEF: Short circuit to + 12 V on the steering column lock sensor connection

Attempt to apply forced + after ignition feed to update the faults.
Use Wiring Diagrams Technical Note for MEGANE II or SCENIC II.

NOTESAttempt to apply forced + after ignition feed to update the
faults.
Check the condition and connection of the steering column lock connector.
If the connector is faulty and if there is a repair method (see Technical Note 6015A, Repairing electrical wiring,
Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the connector; otherwise, replace the wiring.
Check the condition and connection of connectors PE2, PP2 on the UCH and connectors PEH (UPC Vdiag 44)
or CT1 (UPC Vdiag 48) on the UPC (bent or broken tabs, etc.).
If the connector(s) is faulty and if there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Repairing electrical
wiring, Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the connector, otherwise replace the wiring.
Check the insulation and continuity of the following connections:
●Connection code 26I,
●Connection code 26AZ,
●Connection code 26BA, between the steering column lock (component code 1088) and the UCH
(component code 645)
●Connection code AP15, between the steering column lock (component code 1088) and the Protection and
Switching Unit (component code 1337)
If the connection(s) is faulty and if there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Electrical wiring
repair, Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
If the fault is still present, contact the Techline.
AFTER REPAIRCarry out another fault finding check on the system.
Clear the stored faults.
Deal with any other faults.

NOTESAttempt to apply forced + after ignition feed to update the

Check the presence and condition of fuses F5A and F5D on the Protection and Switching Unit ( Vdiag 44 UPC)
or fuses F11 and F18 ( Vdiag 48 UPC or later).
If the fuse(s) is faulty, replace it.
Check the condition and connection of the steering column lock connector.
If the connector is faulty and if there is a repair method (see Technical Note 6015A, Repairing electrical wiring,
Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the connector; otherwise, replace the wiring.
Check the condition and connection of connectors PP2 and PE2 on the UCH and connectors PEH (Vdiag44
UPC) or CT1 (Vdiag 48 UPC or later) on the Protection and Switching Unit (bent or broken tabs, etc.).
Ifthe connector(s) is faulty and if there is a repair procedure ( seeTe chnical Note 6 015A, Repairing e lectrical wiring,
Wiring: Precautions for repair), r epair the connector, otherwise replace the wiring.
Check the insulation and continuity of the following connection:
●Connection code NAM between component 1088 and earth.
If the connection is faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Electrical wiring repair,
Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
Check the insulation and continuity of the following connections:
●Connection code 26I,
●Connection code 26AZ,
●Connection code 26BA.
Between components 645 and 1088.
If the connection or connections are faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Electrical
wiring repair, Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
Check for + 12 V on connection AP15 of component 1088.
Check the insulation, continuity and the absence of interference resistance on connection AP15 between
components 1337 and 1088.
If the connection or connections are faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Repairing
electrical wiring, Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
With the ignition on, check for + 12 V on connection APCB of component 645.
Check the insulation, continuity and the absence of interference resistance on connection APCB between
components 1337 and 645.
If the connection or connections are faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Repairing
electrical wiring, Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
If the fault is still present, contact the Techline.

Clear the stored faults.

Check the condition and connection of the steering column lock connector (tabs bent, broken).
If the connector is faulty and if there is a repair method (see Technical Note 6015A, Repairing electrical wiring,
Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the connector; otherwise, replace the wiring.
Check the presence and condition of the F5D fuse on the UPC (Vdiag 44 UPC) or the F18 fuse (Vdiag 48 UPC
or later). Replace the fuse if it is faulty.
Check the condition and connection of connector PEH (UPC Vdiag 44) or connector CT1 (UPC Vdiag 48) of the
UPC (bent or broken tabs, etc.).
If the connector is faulty and if there is a repair method (see Technical Note 6015A, Repairing electrical wiring,
Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the connector; otherwise, replace the wiring.
Check the insulation and continuity of the following connection:
●Connection code AP15 between components 645 and 1088.

NOTESPriorities when dealing with a number of faults:
Deal with fault DF029 Steering column lock circuit first if it is present.
Special note:
Attempt to apply forced + after ignition feed to update the faults.
Use Wiring Diagrams Technical Note for MEGANE II or SCENIC II.
Check the condition and connection of the steering column lock connector.
If the connector is faulty and if there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Repairing electrical
wiring, Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the connector; otherwise, replace the wiring.
Check the condition and connection of the UCH PE1 and PP2 connectors.
If the connector(s) is faulty and if there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Repairing electrical
wiring, Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the connector, otherwise replace the wiring.
Check the insulation and continuity of the following connections:
●Connection code 26I.
●Connection code 26J.
Between components 645 and 1088.
If the connection(s) is faulty and there is a repair procedure (see Technical Note 6015A, Electrical wiring repair,
wiring: precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
Check the continuity and insulation of the following connection:
●Connection code NAM between component 1088 and earth.
If the connection is faulty and there is a repair method (see Technical Note 6015A, Repairing electrical wiring,
Wiring: Precautions for repair), repair the wiring, otherwise replace it.
If the fault is still present, replace the UCH.

If the steering column lock status remains YES, try to start the vehicle again.
If the fault is still present, verify that the card has been authenticated by the UCH.
Check that when depressing the clutch pedal or on the brake pedal or the start button that the UCH issues an
unlock signal (if the steering column lock is locked).
If the fault is still present, contact Techline.
