meansforexamplethatthesystemdoesnot
reacttoatrailerwithoutheadlampswhichis
towedbehindacarortruck.Cleaning
InordertoworkmosteffectivelytheBLIS
cameralensesmustbeclean.Thelensescan
becleanedwithasoftclothordampsponge.
Cleanthelensescarefullysothattheyarenot
scratched.
WARNING!
BLISdoesnotworkinsharpbends.
BLISdoesnotworkwhenthecaris
reversing.
Awidetrailercoupledtothecarcan
concealothervehiclesinadjacentlanes.
Itcanpreventthevehicleinthescreened
areafrombeingdetectedbyBLIS.

Thesystemdoesnotreacttobicycles
ormopeds.
TheBLIScamerascanbedisruptedby
intensivelightorwhendrivinginthedark
whentherearenolightsources(e.g.
streetlightingorothervehicles).The
systemmaytheninterpretthelackoflight
asifthecamerashavebeenblocked.
Inbothcasesamessageisshowninthe
dashboarddisplay.
Whendrivinginsuchconditionsthe
systemcanbetemporarilyswitchedoff
(seetheinformationonthenextpage).
Whenthetextmessagehasfadedthe
systemreturnstofullfunctionality.

limitationsasthehumaneye,i.e.they
"see"worseinheavysnowfallorthickfog

wheel:–Lowerthebottomofthetailgate.
–Liftupthefloorhatchinthecargo
compartment.
–Takethetwopartsofthecrankand
assemble.
–Fitthecrankinthewinch.
–Loosenthetyrebycrankinganticlockwise
untilyoureachthestop.
–Releasethewheelfromthecable.
–Rewindupthecable(clockwise).
NOTE!Thecablecoulddamagethecarifit
hangsfreewhiledriving.–Placethepuncturedtyreinthecargo
compartment.Thetoolkitcontainsa
plasticbagforthetyre.

–Slowlycrank(clockwise)thecableina
bit.
–Anglethewheelsothatitcomesinover
theexhaustsystem.
–Holddowntherearedgeofthewheel
whilecrankingitin.
–Placethewheelabovetherearaxle,
againstthefloor.
Cranktothestoppoint.
Checkthatthewheelisfirmlysecured.
Thejackingpointsarecentredunderthe
bottomofthedoors.RemovingwheelsRemembertosetoutthewarningtriangleif
youmustchangeawheelinatraffickedarea.
Therearetwojackingpointsoneachsideof
thecar,centredunderthebottomofthe
doors.–Parkthecaronaneven,firmsurfacewith
noincline.
–Applytheparkingbrakeandengage1st
gear(manualgearbox)ormovethegear
selectortoP(automaticgearbox).Place
chocksoneithersideofthewheels
remainingontheground-usestonesor
woodenblocks.
–Takeoutthejack,wheelbraceandcrank,
seelocationpage153.
–Usethewheelbracetoloosethewheel
bolts½-1turn.Turnanticlockwise.
WARNING!
Checkthattherightattachmentpointsare
beingused.Aproductionanchoragewith
pinislocatedbetweenthejackingpoints.
Thisisnotstrongenoughtousetoliftthe
car.Ifyouareunsureaboutthelocationof
thejackingpoints,contactyourVolvo
workshop.Anincorrectlyfittedjackcould
damagethedoorandbody.

thatthejacksitssecurelyinthe
anchorage.Thenadjustthejacksothat
itsfootispositionedverticallyunderthe
anchorage.Seeillustration.Donotplace
woodblocksorthelikeunderthejackas
youwillnotachievefullbearingcapacity.
–Liftthecaruntilthewheelisfree.–Removethewheelboltsandliftoffthe
wheel.
Fittingthewheel–Cleanthecontractsurfacesonthewheel
andhub.
–Fitthewheel.Screwthewheelnuts.
–Lowerthecarsothatthewheelcannot
rotate.
–Tightenthewheelboltsalternatelyandin
torquesteps.Tighteningtorque:
140Nm(14.0kpm).Itisimportantthat
theyaretightenedtothecorrecttorque.
Checkwithatorquewrench.
–Screwthejackallthewaydownbefore
returningittothecargocompartment.
Thensecureitinplace.
–Checkthatthenewtyrehasthecorrect
amountofpressure.
NOTE!Therearetwodifferenttypesofwheel
boltsdependingonwhetherornotyourcar
hassteeloraluminiumrims;boltsusedwith
aluminiumrimshavealoose,rotatingring.
Boltsusedwithsteelrimshavenorotating
ring.
Makesuretousethecorrecttypeofbolt.If
youareunsure,checkwiththenearestVolvo
workshop.
WARNING!
Ifthejackispositionedincorrectly,thecar
couldfall.Riskofinjury!

–Checkthattheseal(7)onthenew
canisterisnotdamaged.Screwthe
holder(9)ontothecanister(6)andturnit
anticlockwiseuntilaclickisheard.
–Refitthecase(3).Checkthatthecaseis
correctlyfitted.Screwitonwiththe
screws(2).
–Affixthespeedlabel(4)andnewdate
label(1)tothetyrerepairkit.
Theemptycanisterandairhosecanbe
treatedasnormalwaste.

Whenusingapressurewasher:Make
surethatthenozzleofthepressure
washerisnotcloserthan30cmtothe
bodywork.Donotspraydirectlyatthe
locks.
Washusingasponge,carshampooand
plentyoflukewarmwater.
Ifthedirtisdifficulttodislodge,washthe
carusingacolddegreasingagent.
Drythecarusingaclean,softchamoisor
awaterscraper.
Cleanthewiperbladeswithalukewarm
soapsolutionorcarshampoo.Removingbirddroppings
Washbirddroppingsoffthepaintworkas
soonaspossible.Birddroppingscontain
chemicalsthataffectanddiscolourpaintwork
veryquickly.Thisdiscolourationcanonlybe
removedbyaspecialist.
Automaticcarwashes
Anautomaticcarwashisasimpleandquick
wayofwashingthecar.Bearinmind,
however,thatanautomaticcarwashcan
neverreplaceaproperhandwashing–the
brushesofacarwashcannotreach
everywhere.Pressthebrakepedallightlyfromtimetotime
ifdrivingforlongperiodsinrainorslush.This
heatsanddriesthebrakepads.Youshould
alsodothiswhenyoubegindrivingin
extremelydamporcoldweather.
Exteriorplasticparts
Aspecialcleaningagent,availablefromVolvo
dealers,isrecommendedforcleaning
exteriorplasticparts.Neverusestrongstain
removers.
WARNING!
Alwayshavetheenginecleanedbya
workshop.Thereisariskoffireifthe
engineishot.IMPORTANT!Washingbyhandisgentlertothe
paintworkthananautomaticcarwash.
Thepaintworkisalsomoresensitive
whenitisnew.Forthisreason,
handwashingisrecommendedduringthe
firstfewmonthswithanewcar.
WARNING!
Alwaystestthebrakesafterwashingthe
cartoensurethatmoistureandcorrosion
donotattackthebrakepadsandreduce
brakingperformance.
