Supplemental airbag warning light

position, thesupplemental airbag warning light
will illuminate. Thesupplemental airbag warning
light willturn offafter about 7seconds ifthe
supplemental frontairbag andsupplemental
side airbag, curtain side-impact airbag systems
and/or pretensioner seatbeltareoperational.
If any ofthe following conditions occur,thefront
air bag, sideairbag, curtain airbag and
pretensioner systemsneedservicing andyour
vehicle mustbetaken toyour nearest NISSAN
dealer.
. The supplemental airbag warning light
remains onafter approximately 7seconds.
. The supplemental airbag warning light
flashes intermittently .
. The supplemental airbag warning lightdoes
not illuminate atall.
Unless checked andrepaired, theSupplemental
Restraint Systemsand/orthepretensioners maynot
function properly.

warning light

the Vehicle Dynamic Control(VDC)warning
light illuminates andthen turns off.
The light willblink when theVehicle Dynamic
Control (VDC)system orthe traction control
system isoperating, thusalerting thedriver that
the vehicle isnearing itstraction limits.Theroad
surface maybeslippery .
If the VDC warning lightilluminates whilethe
VDC system ison, this light alerts thedriver tothe
fact that theVDC system's fail-safemodeis
operating, forexample theVDC system maynot
be functioning properly.Have thesystem
checked byaNISSAN dealer.Ifa malfunction
occurs inthe system, theVDC system function
will becanceled butthevehicle isstill driveable.

High beam indicator light

This light illuminates whentheheadlight high
beam ison and goes outwhen thelow beam is
selected.
Malfunction IndicatorLight(MIL)

If the malfunction indicatorlightcomes on
steady orblinks whiletheengine isrunning, it
may indicate apotential emission controland/or
Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)mal-
function.
The malfunction indicatorlightmayalso illumi-
nate steady ifthe fuel-filler capisloose or
missing, orifthe vehicle runsoutoffuel. Check
to make surethefuel-filler capisinstalled and
closed tightly,and that thevehicle hasatleast 3
US gallons (11.4liters) offuel inthe fuel tank.
After afew driving trips,the
light should
turn offifno other potential emission control
system malfunction exists.
If this indicator lightremains onfor 20 seconds
and then blinks for10 seconds whentheengine
is not running, itindicates thatthevehicle isnot
ready foranemission controlsystem inspection/
maintenance test.(See ªReadiness forInspec-
tion/Maintenance (I/M)testº(P.9-20) .)

Operation:

The malfunction indicatorlightwillcome onin
one oftwo ways:
. Malfunction indicatorlightilluminated steady
Ð An emission controlsystem and/orCVT
malfunction hasbeen detected. Checkthe
fuel-filler capifthe LOOSE FUELCAP
warning message isdisplayed onthe twin
trip odometer. Ifthe fuel-filler capisloose or
missing, tightenorinstall thecap and
continue todrive thevehicle. The
light
should turnoffafter afew driving trips.Ifthe
light does notturn offafter afew driving
trips, havethevehicle inspected bya
NISSAN dealer.You do not need tohave
your vehicle towedtothe dealer.
. Malfunction indicatorlightblinking ÐAn
engine misfirehasbeen detected whichmay
damage theemission controlsystem.
T o reduce oravoid emission controlsystem
damage:
1) Do not drive atspeeds above45MPH
(72 km/h) .
2) Avoid hardacceleration ordeceleration.
3) Avoid steepuphillgrades.
4) Ifpossible, reducetheamount ofcargo
being hauled ortowed.
The malfunction indicatorlightmaystop
blinking andremain on. Have
thevehicle inspected byaNISSAN
dealer. You do not need tohave yourvehicle
towed tothe dealer.
CAUTION
Continued vehicleoperation without
having theemission controlsystem
and/or CVTsystem checked andre-
paired asnecessary couldleadtopoor
driveability, reducedfueleconomy, and
possible damagetothe emission con-
trol system.
Security indicator light

The light blinks whentheignition switchisin the
ACC, OFForLOCK position. Thisfunction
indicates thesecurity systemequipped onthe
vehicle isoperational.
If the security systemismalfunctioning, thislight
will remain onwhile theignition switchisin the

will make ahigh pitched scraping soundwhen
the vehicle isin motion. Thisscraping soundwill
first occur onlywhen thebrake pedalis
depressed. Aftermore wearofthe brake pad,
the sound willalways beheard evenifthe brake
pedal isnot depressed. Havethebrakes
checked assoon aspossible ifthe warning
sound isheard.
Parking brakereminder chime
