Fueltankventing
Theevaporationchamberandthecarboncanisterpreventfuelfromescapingtotheatmosphereatextremehighoutsidetemperatures,whendrivingabruptlyaroundcurvesandwhenthecarisparkedataninclineorinanyothernonlevelposition.
Vaporcontrolsystemandstorage
Whenthefueltankisfilled,vaporsarecollectedintheevaporationchamberbyaventlineleadingthevaporstothecarboncanisterwheretheyarestoredaslongastheenginedoesnotrun.
Purgesystem
Whentheengineisrunning,thefuelvaporsfromthecanisterwillbemixedwithfreshairfromtheambientairofthecanister.Thismixturewillbedirectedtotheintakeairhousingbythetankventline,mixedwiththeintakeairandburnedduringnormalcombustion.

Capacity

Washeruid
Thereservoir,withabluescrewcap,isintheluggagecompartment,totherearleft.
Cleanwaterisgenerallynotenoughtocleanthewindshieldandheadlights.Dependingon
theseason,mixthewaterwiththeappropriateadditives.Followtheinstructionsforthemixtureratio.
Onlyusewindowcleanerconcentratewhichmeetsthefollowingrequirements:

–Phosphate-free
–Suitableforplasticheadlightlenses.

Riskofaccidentresultinginseriouspersonalinjuryordeath.Whentheengineisstopped(e.g.whenbeingtowed)orthehydraulicsystemfails,thereisnoassistanceforsteering.Therefore,substantiallymoreforcewillhavetobeexertedinordertosteer.

3.Wipemeasuringrod.Closecapandreopen.Thefluidlevelshouldlieintheareabelowthe“Cold”marking.Addhydraulicfluidifnecessary.
4.Closecapcarefully.Closeenginecompart-mentlid.
Noticeablelossoffluidindicatesleakageinthesystem.ThecauseshouldberemediedimmediatelyatanauthorizedPorschedealer.

Airlter
Adirtyairfilternotonlyreducesengineperform-ance,butcanleadtoprematureenginewear.
Regularfilterreplacementispartoftheroutinemaintenanceservice.

Combinationlter
Thefreshairpassingthroughthecombinationfilterintothepassengercompartmentisvirtuallyfreeofdust,pollen,andunpleasantodors.
Iftheoutsideairispollutedbyexhaustfumes,presstherecirculating-airbutton.

DonottowthecarorruntheenginewithoutATFinthetransmission.Theautomatictransmissionmaybedamagedbyevenatinyspeckofdirt,onlyacleanfunnelorspoutmustbeusedwhenaddingATF.

1.Applythehandbrake.
2.Switchthewipersoff(position0)andremovetheignitionkey.
3.Foldwindshieldwiperarmawayfromthewindshield.
4.Presstogethertheplasticspringofthewiperblade(rightarrow).Pullwiperbladeoutofwiperarm.
5.Insertnewwiperbladeuntilyoufeelitengage.Ensurethatthenewwiperbladeisinsertedintothewiperarminthesameposition:

6.Carefullyfoldwiperarmbackontothewind-shield.

Washingandpreservation
Thebestmethodofprotectingyourcarfromthedamagingeffectsoftheenvironmentisfrequentwashingandtheapplicationofapreservative.Theundersideofyourvehicleshouldalsobethoroughlywashedforcinders,saltorsandingatwinter’send.
Thelongersalt,roaddustandindustrialdust,deadinsects,birddroppingsorsubstancesfromtrees(resin,pollen)areallowedtoremainonthebodywork,themoreseriousistheirharmfuleffect.
Newcarsshouldbewashedcarefullywithplentyofclearwatertoprotectthenewpaintwork.Darkpaintfinishesshowupthesmallestofsurfacedamage(e.g.,scratches)morereadilythanlightercolors.
Darkcolorsarealsomoresusceptibletoscratch-ingbecauseofthecompositionoftheirpigmentsandrequireparticularlycarefulpaintcare.
Donotwashyourcarinbrightsunlightorwhilethebodyworkisstillhot.
Whenwashingbyhand,useabundantwater,asoftspongeorwashbrush,andPorschecarshampoo.
Beginbysprayingthebodythoroughlywithwatertorinseawayloosedirt.

Afterwashing,rinsethecarwithplentyofwaterandthendrywithachamoisleather.Donotusethesamechamoisleatherfordryingasyouuseforcleaningthewindshieldandwindows.

Moisturewhichgetsontothebrakesduringacarwashcanreducebrakingefciencyormakethebrakespullunevenlywhichcouldincreasethedangerofanaccident,causingseriouspersonalinjuriesordeath.

Duetotheconstantchangingofloadsandstrainstowhichacarissubjecttowhendrivingonroads,minorwindnoiseandseepageatjointsbetweenthetop,bodyanddoorsonconvertibletopscannotbecompletelysealedincertainareas.Thereforesmallleaksareconsiderednormalforthesemodels.Inaddition,yourconvertibletopshouldnotbewashedinacarwash.Thetopmayexperiencedamagebythebrushesormayexperienceleaksduetothehighpressurewaterstreamsdirectedinareaswhichwouldnotencounterwaterinnormaldrivingconditions.
