Removing the cargo floor , installing
• To remove, lift t he cargo floor folded together
and pull it toward the rear lid .
• To install, place the folded cargo floor into
both retainers and unfold it.
Grab the protective tray on the ha ndles and pu ll
it out. You can also install a divider to divide @
the storage area. Depending on the vehicle
equipment level, the protective tray can have dif­
ferent sizes and shapes .

A WARNING
Do not use the storage hooks to secure heavy
objects. Heavier objects are not adequately
secured. There is risk of pe rsonal injury.

Roof rack
Description
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof lug­
gage rack .
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the roof,
you must observe the following:
- On ly a specially designed roof rack may be used
on your vehicle roof. This is provided with your
veh icle .
- These roof racks are the basis for a complete
roof rack system . Additional attachments are
necessary if you want to transport luggage, bi­
cycles, surf boards and skis. All these compo­
nents are ava ilable at your a uthorized Aud i
dea le r.
(D Note
If you use other roof luggage rack systems or
do not install the racks as intended, any dam­
age to the vehicle is not covered by the war­
r anty. Always read the ma nufactu rer installa­
tion ins tructions that came with yo ur roof
rack system when yo u install the atta ch­
ments.
(D Tips
When ins tall ing a factory-supp lied roof rac k
system on the roof railing, the ESC will adapt
i tself to a differe nt center of gravity .
Attachment points
The roof rack can only be attached at the
marked locations .

Seats and storage
Attach the roof rack only at the attachment
points on the roof railing. On the inside of the
roof railing there are two holes for attaching the
rear end of the roof rack. To prevent confusing
the front and rear roof rack attachments, there
are three holes on the left and two holes on the
right for mounting the front part of the roof rack
~ fig . 80.
The roof racks have a sticker on the left side un­
derneath to identify front and rear .
A WARNING
When installing the roof rack, make sure the
sticker is on the left side of the vehicle and
faces the stamped arrow in the drive direc­
tion.

The roof rack set consists of a front and rear roof
rack, the
cover profile and a socket wrench.
~ Open the cap (D c:> fig. 82.
~ Before mounting the roof rack, use the socket
wrench @and loosen the left and right screw
in the direction of@ .

~ Clean the attachment points on the roof railing
as well as the roof rack rubber washers@.
~ Carefully place the roof rack over the holes in
the roof railing
c:> fig. 81.
~ Place the pins@ into the holes. The claw®
must engage into the edge of the roof railing .
~ Make sure the rubber washer© lays flat on the
roof railing .
~ Tighten the left and right screws using the
socket wrench @ in direction @.
~ To reach the 4 ft lb (6 Nm) tightening specifi ­
cation needed, both arrows on the socket
wrench must align .
~ Repeat this procedure on the second roof rack.
A WARNING
Check all the roof rack connections each time
before each trip and re-tighten or re-adjust if
necessary .
If you are going to be driving or
rough terrain, you will have to check the at­
tachments more often. If you do not do this,
the risk of your luggage coming loose and
falling off is greater.
(D Note
The pins and the roof rack claws must engage
securely into the holes and into the edge of
the roof railing when you tighten the screws!
(D Tips
You can adjust the width of the roof rack by
using a hexagon wrench and turning the
screws on the top. Let your authorized Audi
dealer help you with this.

Installing the attachments
• Remove the ca p @ q fig . 83 .
• Slide the attachment into the T-groove 0-
• Tighten the attachment according to the roof
rack installation inst ructions .
• Close the cap.
Install ing the cov er profile
• Seal the openings in the T-groove 0 with the
cover profile @ after hav ing installing the at ­
tachments.
• If you not want to use th e attachment, seal the
whole T-groove
0 with the cover profile @.
• Cut t he cover profile to the length needed, if
necessary .
Roof load
The cargo on the roof mus t be securely attached.
Handling charac teristics change when cargo is
transported .
The permissible roof load for your veh icle is
165 lbs (75 kg ). The roof load is the total of the
weight of the roof rack, the attachme nts and the
cargo you are carrying .
_&, WARNING
- The cargo m ust be sec urely attached on the
roof rack, otherwise yo u risk a n accide nt.
- Dist ribute the load as evenly as possible and
do not make the roof rack wider than the
m ax imum permitted.
- Yo u must unde r no circumstances exceed
t he perm iss ible roof load, the permiss ible
ax le loads and the pe rm issib le overa ll
we ight of yo ur vehicle -risk of an accident.
- M ount the a ttachments to the roof rack only
after you have placed the roof rack on the
vehicle .
- C onsider that whe n transpo rting heavy ob­
je cts or one wi th a large s urf ac e, the han ­
dling characterist ics c hange due to shift in
the cente r of gravity or the greater s urface
exposed to the w ind. So adapt your driving
and your speed to prevailing conditions. We
recommend that you do not dr ive faster
than 80 mp h (130 km/h) .
Seats and storag e
-Mounting a roof rack changes the height of
your veh icle. Keep t his in m ind when parking
your veh icle in your garage, or when dr iving
through a tunnel o r under a n overpass.
(D Note
- Ma ke sure the rea r lid does not hit the cargo
on the roof rack when you open it. On
vehicles with automatic rear lid/trunk lid
operation* you may have to adjust the open
position of the rear lid
~ page 41.
- Remove the roof rack and attachment be­
fore taking your vehicle th rough an auto ­
matic car wash to avoid damage .
@ For the sake of the environment
As a result of the increased wind res istance
created by a roof rack, your vehicle is using
fuel u nnecessarily . So remove the roof rack
aft er using it.

• Place the beverage in the holde r and re lease
the a rm . T he arm swings back by itself and au ­
tomat ically secures the bev erage.
Clo sing the rear cupholders
• To close the rear cupholder, press on the center
section between the two arms and p ush the c u­
pholder in the s lot as far as it will go.
The ho ld ing arm must be adjusted such that it
lies closely against the cupholder.
A max imum o f two beve rages can be pla ced in
the center armrest .
A WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident and
personal inju ry .
- Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea, in
the vehicle while it is moving . In case of an
acc ident, sudden braking or other vehicle
movement, hot liquid could spill, causing
sca ld ing burns . Spilled hot liquid can also
cause a n accident and personal in ju ry.
- U se only soft c ups in the cupholder. Hard
cups and g lasses can cause injury in an acci­
dent.
- Never use the cupholder or adapter as an ashtray -risk of fire .
CD Note
Only dr ink con tainers with lids should be car­
r ied in the cupholder. Liquid co uld sp ill out
and damage your vehicle's elec tronic equip­
ment or stain the upho lstery, etc .

Climatized cupholders
Applies to: vehicles with climatized beverage holders

When cooling, the temperature of the bev erage
holder base will go down to approximately 41
°F
(5 °C) . When warm ing , the temperatu re will be
a ppro ximately 136
°F (58 °(). At 104 °F (40 °()
the warming display will come on@. This is re ­
minder not to touch the base because it is hot .
The display goes out if the temperature falls be­ l ow this val ue.
A WARNING
- Never touch the beve rage holder base when
the warming d isplay is on. You can b urn
yourse lf!
- Do not use breakab le beve rage containers
(for examp le made out of g lass or porce­
la in). Yo u could be injured by them in case
of an accident.
CD Note
M ake sure your beverage ho lder has a lid. If
not, your beverage could spill out and cause
damage to the veh icle electronic or stain the
seat covers .

Do not cover the venti lation gri lle -arrow- be­
cause that could prevent the beverage holder
from functioning correctly.
Cupholders in the door pockets
There is a cupholder in all four doors.

The cigarette lighter sho uld on ly be used as a
power so urce for the compressor from the inflat­
ab le spare tire/tire repai r kit* when absol ute ly
necessary.

T he cigarette lighter on ly works when the ig­
nition is sw itched on. Incorrect usage can lead
to ser ious injuries or burns . For this reason,
children should never be left unattended in
the vehicle beca use this increases the risk of
injury.
12 -volt sockets
Electrical accessories can be connected to every
12-volt socket.

cessories . The power input must not exceed 120

The power outlets and therefore the electrical
accessories connected to them operate only
with the ign ition on. Improper use of the out­
lets or of electrical accessor ies can lead to se­
rious injuries o r cause a fire. Fo r this reason,
chi ldren should never be left unattended in
the vehicle -th ey could be injured!
(D Note
To avoid damaging the socket, only use plugs
that fit properly .
(!} Tips
When the engine is off and accessories are
still plugged in and are on, the vehicle battery
can still be drained.

panel. Any items not put away could slide
around inside t he vehicle while driving or

when accelerating or when applying the brakes or when driving around a corner.
- When you are driving make sure that any­
thing you may have placed in the center con­
sole or other storage locations cannot fall out into the footwells. In case of sudden
braking you would not be able to brake or
accelerate.
- Any pieces of clothing that you have hung
up must not interfere with the driver's view.
The coat hooks are designed only for light­
we ight cloth ing. Never hang any clothing
with hard, pointed or heavy objects in the
pockets on the coat hooks. During sudden
braking or in an accident -especially if the
airbag is deployed -these objects could in­
jure any passengers inside the vehicle.
Glove compartment
The glove comportment is illuminated and can
be locked.

.,. Pull the handle in the direction of the arrow

To close glove compartment
.,. Push the glove compartment lid upward until
the lock engages.
There are holders for a pen and a pad of paper in
the glove compartment lid.
On the right side in the glove compartment is a holder with the key body into which the emergen­
cy key must be clipped to be able to start the ve­
hicle.

A WARNING
-To reduce the risk of personal injury in an acci-
dent or sudden stop, always keep the glove
compartment closed while driving.
Cooling box in glove compartment
The cooling box works only when the air-condi­
tioning is in cooling mode.

If the climate control is in the heating mode, we

A WARNING
Always keep the lid closed while driving to re­
duce the risk of injury during a sudden brak­
ing maneuver or in the event of an accident.

A WARNING
- Hang clothes in such a way that they do not
impa ir the driver's vision .
- The coat hooks must only be used for light­
weight cloth ing . Do not leave any heavy or
sharp edged objects in the pockets which may interfere w it h the side cu rtain airbag
deployment and can cause personal injury in
a crash .
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging cloth­
ing on the coat hooks as this can interfere
with prope r deployment of the side curtain
airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal injury in
a sudden stop.

Warm and cold Climate control system
Description
The climate control system warms , cools and
adds humidity to the a ir in the veh icle inter ior. It
i s the most effective when the windows and pan­
oramic sliding sunroof* ar e closed. If th ere is a
bui ld-up of heat inside th e vehicle, ventilation
can help to sp eed up th e cooling process.
I n all heating mode functions except
defrost, the
b lower only switches to a higher speed once the
engine coolant has reached a certain tempera­
ture .
Condensat ion from the cooling system can drip
and fo rm a puddle of water unde r the vehicle.
This is normal and does not mean there is a leak.
Pollut ant filter
The pollutant filter removes pollutants such as
dust and pollen from the air.
The air pollutants filter must be changed at the intervals specified in your Warranty
& Mainte­
nance booklet, so that the a ir condit ione r can
p roperly work.
If you drive your vehicle in an area with high air
pollution , the filter may need to be changed
mo re frequently than specified in your Aud i Wa r­
ranty
& Ma intenance booklet. If in doubt, ask
your author ized Audi Service Advisor for advice .
Key co ded setting s
The climate control settings are automatically
stored and assigned to the remote control key
that is i n use .
_&. WARNING
Reduced visib ility is dangerous and can ca use
accidents.
- For safe dr iv ing it is very impo rtant that all
windows be free of ice, snow and condens a­
tion .
Warm and c old
- Completely familiarize yourself with the
proper use and function of the heating and
ventilation system and especially how to de­
fog and defrost the windows .
- Never use the windshield wiper/washer sys­
tem in freezing weather until you have
warmed the windshie ld first, using the heat ­
ing and vent ilation system . The washe r solu­
tion may freeze on the w indshield and re­
duce visibility.
(D Note
- If you suspect that the air conditioner has bee n damaged, sw itch the system off to
avoid further damage and have it inspected
by a qualified dea lership.
- Repa irs to the Aud i a ir cond itioner requ ire
special techn ical know ledge and spec ial
t ools. Contact an a uthorized Audi dea ler fo r
assistance.
@ For the sake of the environment
By reduc ing the amo unt of fuel you use, yo u
also reduce the amount of pollutants emitted
into the air.
(D Tips
- Keep the a ir intake slots (in fro nt of t he
w indshield) free from ice , snow and debr is
in orde r to maintain the proper function of
the climate control system .
- T he energy management system may switch
the seat heating* or rear window defroster
off temporarily . These systems are availab le
again as soon as the energy ba lance has
been restored .
- The a ir flowing out of the vents and
throughout the vehicle's ent ire inter ior is
discharged at the rear of the vehicle . Make
sure that the out let slots are not covered by
cloth ing , etc.

Warm and cold
Operation
We recommend pressing the IAUTOI button and setting the temperature to 72 °F (22 °C) .

Press the buttons to turn the functions on or off .
Use the dials to adjust the temperature, the
b lowe r speed and the air distrib ution . The LED in
a bu tton w ill light up when the funct ion is
sw itched on. The sett ings a re displayed for a few
seconds in the radio or MMI* display .
The driver and front passenger side can be ad­
jus ted separate ly. Th e settings are also d isplayed
in the clima te control system d isplay.
I O FF j Switching the climate control system
on /off
The IOFFI button swi tches the climate contro l
sys tem on or off. It also switches on when you
press the knob . Ai rf low from o utside is blocked
when the climate con trol system is switched off.
IAIC ! Switching cooling mode on /off
The air is not cooled and humidity is not removed
when cooling mode is switched off . T h is can
cause fog on the windows . The cooling mode
sw itches off au toma tic ally when there are cold
outside temperat ures.
la, I Switching recirculation mode on /off
In recirculation mode, the a ir inside the vehicle is
circu lated and filtered . This prevents the unfil­
tered a ir o utside the vehicle from e ntering the
veh icle interior . We recommend switching recir-

culation mode on when driving through a tunnel
or when sitt ing in traffic

The !AUTO I button or I l1ii> FRONT ! button switches
reci rculation mode off .
I AUTO I Switching automatic mode on
Automatic mode main tains a constan t tempera­
ture inside the vehicle . Air temperature , airflow
and air distribution are controlled automatically.
Adjusting the temp erature
Temperatures between 60 ° F (+ 16 °C) and 84 ° F
( + 28 °C) can be set . O utside of th is range,
l ow or
high will appear in the radio or MMI* display . At
both of these settings, the climate control sys­
tem runs continuously at maximum cooling or
heating power. There is no temperature regula­
tion.
~ Adju sting th e airfl ow
You can adjust the airflow manua lly to suit your
needs . To have the airflow reg ulated automati­
cally, press the
IAUTO I button.
~ Adjusting the air distribution
Yo u can manual ly select the vents where the air
will flow. To have the air distribut ion regulated
automat ica lly, press the
IAUTO I button. ""
