Checking levels
Engine oil level
The check of the oil level is carried out  with  the  dipstick,  located  under Â

he  bonnet.  For  the  position  of  the Â

Topping-up the engine oil

The oil  must  be  the  correct  grade  for  your Â

nscrew the filler cap for access to the
filler
 orifice.

evel  again  using  the  dipstick.

Coolant level
The coolant level should be close to  the  "MA X"  mark  but  should  never Â

xceed  it.

addition,  as  the  cooling  system  is  pressurised,

before  carrying  out  any  work.
To

any  risk  of  scalding,  unscrew  the  cap Â

 pressure  has  dropped,  remove  the Â

ap

and

top  up  the  level.
Changing the coolant
The coolant does not have to be replaced at routine ser vices.
Fluid specification
The coolant must conform to the manufacturer's r ecommendations.
When
 the  engine  is  warm,  the  temperature  of Â
t
he  coolant  is  regulated  by  the  fan.
The cooling fan may star t after switching
off the engine: take care with ar ticles and
clothing that might be caught by the fan
blades.
Fluid specification
For optimum cleaning and to avoid freezing, t his  fluid  must  not  be  topped  up  or  replaced Â
w
ith  plain  water.

 prolonged  contact  of  used  oil  or Â

luids  with  the  skin.
Most  of  these  fluids  are  harmful  to Â
h
ealth  or  indeed  very  corrosive.
Do  not  discard  used  oil  or  fluids  into Â
s
ewers  or  onto  the  ground.
Take  used  oil  to  a  CITROËN  dealer  or Â
a
 qualified  workshop  (France)  or  to  an Â
a
uthorised  waste  disposal  site.
