Air Filter Restriction Gauge
The air filter restriction gauge is in theupper housing of the air filter assembly.
Check the air filter restriction gaugewhenever you open the hood to carry outgeneral engine maintenance or at leastevery 7,500 mi (12,000 km). If you operateyour vehicle in extremely dusty conditions, check the gauge at least every 500 mi(800 km) or two weeks, whichever occursfirst. Change the air filter element whenthe restriction gauge reads near thechange filter line and the gauge is yellow.Allowing the restriction gauge to reachmaximum affects engine performance andfuel economy.

Operating your vehicle in heavy snowfallor extreme rain conditions may allowexcessive amounts of snow or water intothe air intake system. This could restrict airflow and cause the engine to lose poweror shut down.
After installing a new air filter element, youmust reset the gauge by pressing the resetbutton.
After operating your vehicle during in heavysnowfall or extreme rain, do the following:
•Snow: At the earliest opportunity, openthe hood and clear any snow and icefrom the air filter housing inlet andreset the air filter restriction gauge.
•Extreme rain: The air filter elementdries out after approximately 15–30minutes of driving at highway speeds. At the earliest opportunity, open thehood and reset the air filter restrictiongauge.
Note:Do not remove the foam filter.

CONDITIONER MODULE FUEL
FILTERS - 6.7L DIESEL
WARNING
Do not dispose of fuel in thehousehold refuse or the publicsewage system. Use an authorizedwaste disposal facility.
Your vehicle has two fuel filters. The firstfilter mounts on top of the engine on theleft-hand side. The second filter is insidethe diesel fuel conditioner module. Themodule is mounted between the outboardside of the fuel tank and the frame rail.
Note:The module is at the front of the fueltank or at the front of the aft-axle fuel tankon some models.
Regular fuel filter changes are animportant part of engine maintenance;failing to keep with the scheduledmaintenance could lead to engineperformance issues and fuel injectionsystem damage. See ScheduledMaintenance (page 573).
Use only recommended service partsconforming to specifications. SeeMotorcraft Parts (page 418).
Note:Using fuel that has high levels ofimpurities may require more frequent filterreplacements than the service intervalspecifies.

Engine-mounted Fuel Filter
Although the fuel system is not fullypressurized when the vehicle is off, someresidual pressure may remain in the fuelsystem since it can take some time for thepressure to completely bleed off. Therefore, we recommend you place anabsorbent cloth below the filter connectorsto absorb any fuel that may drain.
The engine-mounted fuel filter is a plasticdisposable cartridge.

CLEANING THE EXHAUST -
6.7L DIESEL
WARNINGS
Failure to maintain the functionalholes, in the tailpipe section of theexhaust, clean and free of debris orforeign material may result in the holesbecoming blocked or plugged. Do notmodify or remove the tail-pipe section.Blocked or plugged holes orremoval/modification of the system couldresult in elevated exhaust gastemperatures which may result invehicle/property damage or personalinjury.
The normal operating temperatureof the exhaust system is very high.Never work around or attempt torepair any part of the exhaust system untilit has cooled. Use special care whenworking around the diesel oxidationcatalytic converter and/or the dieselparticulate filter (DPF). The dieseloxidation catalytic converter and/or theDPF heats up to a high temperature afteronly a short period of engine operation andcan stay hot even after the engine is turnedoff. Failure to follow these instructions mayresult in personal injury.
The visible holes in the exhaust tip and theholes under the shield just inboard of theright rear tire(s) are functional. The holesneed to be kept clear of mud/debris orforeign material to maintain properfunction of the exhaust system. Clean andremove debris or foreign material if presentas needed. Spraying with a hose duringregular washing of vehicle should helpkeep holes clean and clear of debris orforeign material.
CLEANING THE WINDOWS AND
WIPER BLADES
Car wash chemicals and environmentalfallout can result in windshield and wiperblade contamination. Dirty windshield andwipers will result in poor windshield wiperoperation. Keep the windshield and wiperblades clean to maintain windshield wiperperformance.
