When the switch is set to AUTO, thedipped beam headlamps will switchon and off automatically dependingon the ambient light.
Direction indicators

Briefly tap the lever up or down andthe direction indicators will flash threetimes.

Autowipers
When autowipers is selected, thewipers will cycle once regardless ofwhether the windscreen is wet or dry.Thereafter, or when the ignition isswitched on with autowipersselected, the wipers will not cycleuntil water is detected on thewindscreen. Alternatively, move thelever to another position and thenselect autowipers, or operate thewasher.
The rain sensor will continuouslymeasure the amount of water on thewindscreen and adjust the speed ofthe front wipers automatically (singlewipe, intermittent, normal or highspeed wiping).

Once the wash and wipe cycle iscompleted, the wipers will pause andthen perform one more wipe to clearthe windscreen.
Rear window wiper

Reverse gear wipe
The rear wiper will be activatedautomatically when selecting reversegear, if
•the rear wiper is not alreadyswitched on,
•the wiper lever is in position C, orD
•in position B and the front wipersare operating.
The rear wiper will follow the frontwiper interval (at intermittent ornormal speed).
Auto-dimming mirror
See Interior mirror (page 70).
The auto-dimming mirrorautomatically activates the dimmingfunction when hit by glaring light frombehind.
Locking and unlocking

Unlocking
Press once to activate central lockingand arm the anti−theft alarm system.

Press and hold for three seconds tolock the vehicle and close thewindows and sunroof (global closing).
Press twice within three seconds toopen the tailgate only.
Locking
Note: On vehicles with enhancedsecurity, the anti-theft alarm systemis deactivated by pressing the unlockbutton on the remote control.Unlocking a front door with a key willnot deactivate this alarm.
Press once to unlock the vehicle. Youcan change this setting (e.g. driverdoor opening only). See Locking andunlocking (page 35).
Press and hold for three seconds tounlock the vehicle and open thewindows and sunroof (globalopening).
Automatic relocking
To prevent the vehicle being leftunlocked inadvertently, centrallocking and the anti-theft alarmsystem will be reactivatedautomatically 45 seconds after thebutton is pressed if the followingoccurs during this period:
•No door is opened.
•The luggage compartment is notopened.
•The ignition is not switched on.

Opening the bonnet

Swivel the Ford badge in the radiatorgrille to the side. Insert the key in thelock on the radiator grille. Turn thekey first anticlockwise 1. Raise thebonnet slightly and turn the key fullyclockwise 2 to open the bonnet.

WARNINGS
Extreme Hazard! Do not use achild restraint on a seatprotected by an airbag in front of it!
Original text according to ECER94.01: Extreme Hazard! Do notuse a rearward facing child restrainton a seat protected by an air bag infront of it!
There is a risk of death orserious injury when the airbagdeploys.
Always have the rear row headrestraint raised when a childrestraint is being installed oroccupying the seat, provided doingso does not move the child restraintaway from the vehicle seat.
Note: If the vehicle has beeninvolved in an accident, have the childsafety seat checked by an expert asit might be damaged.
Note: Do not leave childrenunattended in the child safety seat orin the vehicle.
Note: When installing a childseat/restraint with the seat belt,always ensure belts fit without slackor twists.
WARNING
There is a risk of death orserious injury when themanufacturer’s instructions are notfollowed properly or when the childseat/restraint is modified in any way.
Whenever installing a childseat/restraint, always read and followthe manufacturer’s instructions.
WARNING
Do not hold a child on your lapwhile the vehicle is moving.
Children of height 150 cm or underor aged 12 years or under should besecured in special restraints forchildren, such as baby seats, childsafety seats or booster cushions inthe rear seats.
