operation of the heating system in " " mode will give rise tomisting of the windshield andside windows and the air withinthe passenger compartment will become stale. o When the ignition switch is
turned "ON", the air intake con-trol will change to " " mode(regardless of switch position).This is normal operation.

B670D01L-AAT Air Flow Control This is used to direct the flow of air. Air can be directed to the floor, dashboard outlets, or windshield. Five symbols are used to represent Face, Bi-Level,Floor, Floor-Defrost and Defrost airposition.
Face-Level
Selecting the "Face" mode will cause air to be discharged through the face level vents.

Bi-Level
Air is discharged through the face vents and the floor vents. This makes it possible to have cooler air from thedashboard vents and warmer air fromthe floor outlets at the same time.
Floor-Level
Air is discharged through the floor vents,windshield defroster nozzle, side de-froster nozzle, side ventilator. Floor-Defrost Level
Air is discharged through the wind-shield defrost nozzle, the floor vents, side defroster nozzle, side ventilator. If the "Floor-Defrost" mode is selected,the A/C will turn on automatically and"Fresh" mode will be activated. B670D05L
Defrost-Level

For normal heating operation, set the air intake control to the fresh air ( )position and the air flow control to thefloor ( ) position. For faster heating, the air intake con- trol should be set in the recirculate ( )position. If the windows fog up, set the air flow control to the "Def" (defroster) posi- tion. (The A/C will turn on automati- cally and "Fresh" mode will be acti-vated.) For maximum heat, move the tem- perature control to "Warm". HXG119
B700A01A-AAT BI-LEVEL HEATING Your Hyundai is equipped with bi-level heating controls. This makes it pos-sible to have cooler air from the dash-board vents and warmer air from thefloor outlets at the same time. To use this feature:
o Set the air intake control to the fresh
air ( ) position.
o Set the air flow control at the bi-level ( ) position.
o Set the temperature control between

To remove frost or exterior fog on the windshield:
o Set the air flow control to the defrost
( ) position. (The A/C will turn on automatically and "Fresh" mode will be activated.)
o Set the temperature control to warm.
o Set the fan speed control to position "3" or "4".
NOTE:
When the A/C is operated continu-
ously on the floor-defrost level ( )
or defrost level ( ), it may cause fogto form on the exterior windshield. Ifthis occurs, set the air flow control to
the face level position ( ) and fanspeed control to the low position.
B720A03FC-AAT DEFROSTING/DEFOGGING
Use the heating/ventilation system to defrost or defog the windshield: To remove interior fog on the windshield:
o Set the air flow control to the defrost ( ) position. (The A/C will turn on automatically and "Fresh" mode willbe activated.)
o Set the temperature control to the desired position.

o To keep dust or unpleasant fumesfrom entering the car through theventilation system, temporarily setthe air intake control to the po- sition. Be sure to return the control to the position when the irritationhas passed to keep fresh air in thevehicle. This will help keep the driveralert and comfortable.
o Air for the heating/cooling system is drawn in through the grilles justahead of the wind-shield. Careshould be taken that these are notblocked by leaves, snow, ice orother obstructions.

o To prevent interior fog on the wind-
shield, set the air intake control to the fresh air ( ) position and fanspeed to the desired position.
B740A01S-AAT AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM Air Conditioning Switch The air conditioning is turned on or off by pushing the A/C button on the heat-ing/air conditioning control panel. B670C03L
To use the air conditioning to cool theinterior:
o Set the side vent control to "OFF",
to shut off the outside air entry.
o Turn on the fan control switch.
o Turn on the air conditioning switch by pushing in on the switch. The air conditioning indicator light should come on at the same time.
o Set the air intake control to the fresh air ( ) position.

(If Installed) Cooling
HXG119o Set the temperature control to "Cool".
("Cool" provides maximum cooling. The temperature may be moderatedby moving the control toward"Warm".)
o Adjust the fan control to the desired
speed. For greater cooling, turn thefan control to one of the higherspeeds or temporarily select therecirculate ( ) position on the airintake control.

o Turn on the fan control switch.
o Turn on the air conditioning switch.
The air conditioning indicator lightshould come on at the same time.

o For more rapid action, set the fan at
one of the higher speeds.

2. Push the "TEMP" button to set the
desired temperature. The temperature will increase to themaximum 32 C(90 F) by pushingon the button. Each push of the button will cause the temperature to increase by 0.5 C(1 F).The temperature will decrease tothe minimum 17 C(62 F) by push-ing on the button. Each push ofthe button will cause the tempera- ture to decrease by 0.5 °C(1 F).
NOTE: If the battery has been discharged or disconnected, the temperaturemode will reset to centigrade de-gree.
The FATC (Full Automatic Tempera- ture Control) system automaticallycontrols the heating and cooling bydoing as follows:
1. Push the "AUTO" switch. The indi- cator light will illuminate confirming that the Face, Floor and/or Bi-Levelmodes as well as the blower speedand, air conditioner will be controlled automatically. Photo sensor

At this state, the system se- quentially works according to the order of buttons selected.The function of the buttons which arenot selected will be controlled auto-matically.Press the "AUTO" button in order to convert to automatic control of the system. Pressing the AMB button displays theambient temperature on VFD. The fan speed can be set to the de-sired speed by pressing the appropri-ate fan speed control button. The higherthe fan speed is, the more air is deliv- ered. Pressing the "OFF" button turns off the fan.B980B01L

Exhaust gas cutoff mode :
Air enters the vehicle from the outside. But if exhaust gas enters the vehiclefrom the outside, the exhaust gas cut-off mode ( ) is automatically con-verted to the ( ) mode, to prevent exhaust gas from entering the vehicle. NOTE:
o It should be noted that prolonged operation of the heating system in recirculation mode ( ) willgive rise to misting of the winds-hield and side windows and the air within the passenger com- partment will become stale. Inaddition, prolonged use of theair conditioning with the recircu-lation mode ( ) selected may result in the air within the pas- senger compartment becomingexcessively dry. B980D01Y-AAT Heating and Cooling System Off Press the "OFF" button to stop the operation of the heating and coolingsystem.o When the ignition switch is turned
"ON", the air intake control willchange to ( ) mode (regardless
of switch position). This is normaloperation. The air intake control operates in "AUTO" mode when turning the ignition to the ON po-sition if the "AUTO" mode wasused before shutting off the en-gine.
CAUTION:
If the windows fog up with the Re-circulation or A.Q.S mode selected, set the air intake control to the Fresh air position or A.Q.S controlto "OFF".
