DRAIN HOSESNBBT0018S04
SBT376
SBT333
1. Remove headlining to access drain hose connections. (Refer
to ªRemoval and Installationº in ªROOF TRIMº, BT-32, for
detail.)
2. Check visually for proper connections, damage or
deterioration.
(The figure shows only the front side.)
SBT377
3. If leakage occurs around luggage room, remove luggage room
side trim and check connecting area. Check for proper
connection, damage or tear.
4. Remove drain hoses and check visually for any damage,
cracks, or deterioration.
5. Pour water into drain hoses and find damaged portion.
IIf any damaged portion is found at each step, replace the
damaged part.
WEATHERSTRIPNBBT0018S05IIn the case of leakage around glass lid, close glass lid and pour
water over glass lid to find damaged or gap portion.
1. Remove glass lid assembly. (Refer to removal procedures,
BT-45, for details.)
2. Visually check weatherstrip for proper installation. If a gap
exists between glass lid and weatherstrip, check for sufficient
amount of butyl seal. If required, remove weatherstrip and
apply butyl seal.
Refer to ªEXTERIORº (BT-35), for details.

3. Check weatherstrip visually for any damage, deterioration, or
flattening.
IIf any damage is found, replace weatherstrip.
CAUTION:
Do not remove weatherstrip except when replacing, or filling
up butyl seal.
LINK AND WIRE ASSEMBLYNBBT0018S06NOTE:
Before replacing a suspect part, carefully ensure it is the source of
noise being experienced.
1. Check link to determine if coating film has peeled off to such
an extent that substrate is visible. Check also to determine if
link is the source of noise. If it is, replace it.
2. Visually check to determine if a sufficient amount of petroleum
jelly has been applied to wire or rail groove. If not, add petro-
leum jelly as required.
3. Check wire for any damage or deterioration. If any damage is
found, remove rear guide (refer to removal procedures, BT-45
for details), then replace wire.

System DescriptionNBEL0206OUTLINENBEL0206S01Electric sunroof system consists of
ISunroof switch
ISunroof motor
IPower window relay
ISmart entrance control unit
Smart entrance control unit controls retained power operation.
OPERATIONNBEL0206S02The sunroof can be opened or closed and tilted up or down with the sunroof switch.
AUTO OPERATIONNBEL0206S03The power sunroof AUTO feature makes it possible to open and close the sunroof without holding the sunroof
switch in the down or up position.
RETAINED POWER OPERATIONNBEL0206S04When the ignition switch is turned to OFF position from ON or START position, power is supplied for 45 sec-
onds
Ito power window relay terminal 2
Ifrom smart entrance control unit terminal 5.
Ground is always supplied
Ito power window relay terminal 1
Ithrough body grounds.
When power and ground are supplied, power window relay continues to be energized, and the electrical sun-
roof can be operated.
The retained power operation is canceled when the driver or passenger side door is opened.
INTERRUPTION DETECTION FUNCTIONNBEL0206S05The CPU of sunroof motor monitors the sunroof motor operation and the sunroof position (full closed or other)
for sunroof by the signals from encoder and limit switch in sunroof motor.
When sunroof motor detects interruption during the following close operation,
Iautomatic close operation when ignition switch is in the ªONº position
Iautomatic close operation during retained power operation
sunroof switch controls the motor for open and the sunroof will operate about 150 mm (5.91 in).

SMART ENTRANCE CONTROL UNIT
Description
EL-319

IThe vehicle location data is calculated using GPS.
IThe vehicle ignition switch must be turned to the ON position
to obtain the vehicle location. (This is because the system is
in the sleep mode when the ignition switch is OFF.)
IOnce this function starts up, regardless of the ignition switch
position, the system keeps transmitting the vehicle location
until the cancel signal is transmitted from the Communicator
Response Center.
IWhile this function is operating, the operator can covertly moni-
tor what is happening inside the vehicle through the hands-free
microphone.
Alarm NotificationNBEL0180S0405IWhen theft warning system sounds an alarm for more than 7
seconds because of improper access, the alarm signal is
transmitted from the smart entrance control unit to the IVCS
unit, and the system executes automatic dialing to the Com-
municator Response Center.
If the alarm is reset before 7 seconds has elapsed, the
INFINITI Communicator will not place a call to the Communi-
cator Response Center.
IThis function operates regardless of ignition switch position.
IWhile this function is operating, the operator can covertly moni-
tor what is happening inside the vehicle through the hands-free
microphone.
Remote Door UnlockNBEL0180S0406IWhen the door is locked with the key inside the vehicle, the
door can be unlocked by contacting the Communicator
Response Center. (Proof that the person calling is the owner
must be received by the Communicator Response Center.)
IWhen the ignition key is in the ªOFFº position, the system is in
the sleep mode. Therefore, back door outside handle must be
pulled to wake up the system.
ITo perform remote door unlock, call the Communicator
Response Center and follow the operator's instructions.
NOTE:
IWhen the system contacts the Communicator Response
Center, data including the vehicle location is transmitted
to the Communicator Response Center.
ICommunication with the Communicator Response Center
is not completed until the completion signal is transmitted
from the Communicator Response Center. (Any calls to
the Communicator Response Center can only be termi-
nated by Communicator Response Center.)
IFunctions other than alarm notification and remote door
unlock operate while the ignition switch is ON and only for
three minutes after the switch is turned OFF.
IOnce a call to the Communicator Response Center is
made, the communication continues regardless of the
ignition key switch position.
IAll the voice communication with the Communicator
Response Center is made through the hands-free tele-
phone.
IWhen the INFINITI Communicator system is activated, the
handset does not function.
