The windshield wipers and wa sher can be operated when
The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in IGNITION ON mode. ■
“A U T O ” m o d e
●
If the wiper switch is turned to the “AUTO” position while the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch is in IGNITION ON mode, the wipers will operate once to show
that “AUTO” mode is activated. ●
If the temperature of the rain drop sensor is 176 F (80 C) or higher, or 14 F
(-10 C) or lower, the automatic operation may not occur. In this case, operate
the wipers in any mode other than “AUTO”. Washer/wiper dual operation The wipers operate automati-

The raindrop sensor judges the amount of
raindrops.
An optical sensor is adopted. It may not
operate properly when sunlight from the
rising or setting of the sun intermittently

Effects of vehicle speed on wiper operation
With the settings other than “AUTO” also, the time until drip prevention wiper
sweep occurs is changed depending on vehicle speed.

With selected, wiper operation will be switched from low speed to intermit-
tent wiper operation only when the vehicle is stationary. (However, when the sensor
sensitivity is adjusted to the highest level, the mode cannot be switched.)
Ty p e B
With selected, wiper operation will be switched from low speed to intermit-
tent wiper operation only when the vehicle is stationary. (However, when the sensor
sensitivity is adjusted to the highest level, the mode cannot be switched.) ■
If no windshield washer fluid sprays
Check that the washer nozzles are not blocked if there is washer fluid in the wind-
shield washer fluid reservoir.
CAUTION■
Caution regarding the use of windshield wipers in “AUTO” mode
The windshield wipers may operate unexpect edly if the sensor is touched or the
windshield is subject to vibration in “AUTO” mode. Take care that your fingers etc.
anything else does not become caught in the windshield wipers. ■
Caution regarding the use of washer fluid
When it is cold, do not use the washer fluid until the windshield becomes warm. The
fluid may freeze on the windshield and cause low visibility. This may lead to an acci-
dent, resulting in death or serious injury.

When the windshield is dry
Do not use the wipers, as they may damage the windshield. ■
When there is no washer fluid spray from the nozzle
Damage to the washer fluid pump may be caused if the lever is pulled toward you
and held continually. ■
When a nozzle becomes blocked
Do not try to clear it with a pin or other object. The nozzle will be damaged.

time after a short delay to prevent dripping. ■
Effect of vehicle and shift position on wiper operation

With selected, wiper operation will be switched from low speed to inter-
mittent wiper operation only the vehicle is stationary. ●
With or selected, the rear window wiper sweeps once when you
shift the shift lever to “R” while windshield wipers operating or with 17 seconds
from their deactivation.

With selected, wiper operation will be switched from low speed to inter-
mittent wiper operation only the vehicle is stationary. ●
With or selected, the rear window wiper sweeps once when you

The headlight cleaner can be operated when
The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in IGNITION ON mode and the headlight
switch is turned on.
NOTICE■
When the washer fluid tank is empty
Do not use this function when the washer fluid tank is empty. This may cause the
washer fluid pump to overheat.Washer fluid can be sprayed on the headlights.

Cruise control
: If equippedUse the cruise control to maintain a set speed without depressing the
accelerator pedal.

Cruise control switch
■ Setting the vehicle speed
Press the “ON-OFF” button to
activate the cruise control. Cruise control indicator will
come on.
Press the button again to deacti-
vate the cruise control.
Accelerate or decelerate the
vehicle to the desired speed,
and push the lever down to set
the speed. “SET” indicator will come on.
