T LIGHTING SYSTEM Troubleshooting 1 Symptom: Turn and hazard warning function do not operate. I Step 1 Check HAZARD 15A fuse and METER 15A fuse in the fuse block. Step 2 Measure voltage at terminal H (B/R) of the flasher unit connector. Fuse Burnt OK Action Replace fuse after checking and repairing wiring harness Go to Step 2 Step 3 1. Disconnect the flasher unit connector. 2. Check for continuity between terminal A (B) of the flasher unit connector and ground. B+: Battery positive voltage -1 Voltage B+ Other Continuity Step 4 1. Turn the ignition switch ON. 2. Set the turn signal switch ON (right or left) and measure voltage at terminal C (G/Y) and terminal B (G/R) of the combination switch connector (&pin connector). Set the turn signal switch to the right position and mea- sure voltage at terminal F (GN) of the flasher unit con- nector. If not as specified, replace the hazard warning switch and retractor switch as an assembly. Flasher Unit Inspection 1. Turn the ignition switch to ON. 2. Operate the following switches and check the operation of the turn signal and hazard warning lights. Check and repair the wire harness, if necessary. 3. If the fuse is OK, go to Step 2. Step 2 1. Check the back-up light bulbs. 2. If a bulb is burned, replace it. 3. If the bulbs are OK, go to Step 3. Step 3 1. Turn the ignition switch ON, and shift the transmission to reverse. 2. Measure the voltacle at the terminal wires of the rear combination light cknectors. LIGHTING SYSTEM T Symptom: Daytime running lights (DRL) do not illuminate. (Turn signals function normally.) DRL operate with engine running and following switches are off: Headlight switch Turn signal switch (Selected turn signal light flashes, other light remains illumi- nated) Hazard warning switch Parking brake switch (Parking brake released) Step 1 1. Position the vehicle on a flat surface and block the wheels to prevent vehicle movement. 2. Turn the ignition switch to ON. 3. Measure the voltage at the following terminal wires of the DRL control unit. 4. If correct, replace the DRL control unit. B+: Battery positive voltage Step 2 1. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector. 2. Check for continuity between the terminal of the switch and a body ground. (Headlight switch - DRL control unit) I Symptom: Daytime running lights (DRL) function does not cancel. OSUOTX-161 Headlight Low beam Step 1 1. Turn the ignition switch ON. 2. Verify the symptom by operating the following switches; the DRL should cancel. Go to the specified Step. Headlight switch. Hazard warning switch. Turn signal switch. Pull the parking brake lever more than one notch. 3. Check the voltage at terminal wire B (R) of the DRL con- trol unit connector. Cycles B+ and OV Cycles B+ and OV 4.
