AUDIO OPERATION DESCRIPTION Type 1 Five seconds after completing an operation that is shown on the display, the indicator returns to clock u mode. Radio control 1 Headrest speaker control Bass control knob Treble control knob I Manual tuning button Scan tuning button r- button Auto memory tuning button Illustration Operation 1. Press knob to turn power ON/OFF 2. Turn knob clockwise - Volume up Turn knob counterclockwise-Volume down To increase volume, turn HRSP clockwise I 1. Press BASSiTREBLE 2. For more lows, turn BASSRREBLE clockwise For less lows, turn BASSRREBLE counterclockwise 1. Pull BASSiTREBLE 2. For more highs, turn BASSRREBLE clockwise For less highs, turn BASSRREBLE counterclockwise To shift sound to left, turn BALANCE clockwise To shift sound to right, turn BALANCE counterclockwise Press button to change bands AM, FMl, and FM2 modes are alternatively selected as shown When stereophonic broadcasting is received in FM1 or FM2 mode, ST is shown on display PressV or A less than 0.5 second to manually tune stations When pressed until beep in heard (0.5 sec.), a first receivable frequency is tuned Press A for higher frequency Press V for lower frequency Press SCAN button and searching of station starts from lowest frequency of selected band When receivable frequency is tuned, frequency flashes on display for 5 seconds; then searching starts again Press button again while frequency is flashing to memorize station Six buttons are equipped to set frequencies of up to six stations each for AM, FM, and FM2 1. Setting frequency Select frequency and press a preset button Hold button until deep is heard (1.5 sec.) and setting is complete 2. Tuning to preset frequency Press desired preset button for less than 1.5 seconds 1. Setting frequency Press and hold AUTO-M button until beep is heard (1.5 sec.) Searching starts from lowest frequency within selected band and six strongest stations are selected and memorized 2. Press and hold REV (down) button for opposite operation of FF button When first part of first tune reached, disc stops reversing and starts playing Clock The clock can be set while the radio or tape/CD player is ON. AUDIO Clock The clock can be adjusted during radio, tape, or CD play. AUDIO T Symptom: Speaker(s) do not operate (Without headrest speakers.) I L/ Possible cause Antitheft system activated Damaged audio unit Open circuit in wiring harness Poor connection of connector Damaged speaker Step 1 Check if the antitheft system has been activated. Turn the ignition switch to ACC and note the display. - - - Display CODE flashes Step 2 1. Remove the audio unit. (Refer to page T-145.) 2. Check the connections of the ground wire and the short plug. 3. If a connection is poor or loose, repair or replace it. 4. If the connections are OK, go to Step 3. Action Deactive antitheft system (page T-120) and go to step 2 Err flashes Clock No indication Step 3 1. Turn the ignition switch to ACC. 2. Measure the voltage at the following terminal-wires of the audio unit connector. AUDIO T Step 7 1. Disconnect the audio unit connector (12-pin). 2. Check for continuity between the audio unit connector and door speaker connector. I Fuse 1 Action I Step 2 1. Remove the audio unit. (Refer to page T-145.) 2. Check the connectors and the DIN cord of the audio unit. 3. If a connection is poor or loose, repair or replace it. 4. If the connectors are OK, go to Step 3. Burnt OK Step 3 1. Turn the ignition switch to ACC position. 2. Measure voltage at terminals A (UB) and C (UR) of the AM-FM radio unit connector (1 2-pin).
