s MOLDING AND GARNISH Removal Note Front beltline molding Remove the outside mirror to remove the front beltline molding. (Refer to page S-34.) i/ Rear finisher Remove the rear combination light to remove the rear finisher. (Refer to Section T.) PRIMER 45UOSX42C I MOLDING I MOLDING Beltline molding Remove the convertible top to remove the beltline mold- ing. (Refer to page S-67.) Installation Note Windshield molding 1. Remove the windshield. (Refer to page S-44.) 2. Install the windshield. (Refer to page S-44.) 3. Apply primer with a brush to the bonding area of the new upper molding. Keep the bonding area free of dirt and -- grease, and do not touch the surface. Allow the primer to dry for approximately 30 minutes. 4. Align the center mark in the molding with the glass mark (0) 5. Install the upper portions of the molding into the body (Q) . 6. Push the corner of the molding into the body ((3). 7. Push the side portions of the molding into the body, beginning from the bottom (@). 8. Check for water leaks. If a leak is found, wipe the water off well and repeat the installation. REAR WINDOW s PUL PROTECTOR Removal Note Rear window 1. Remove the rear package trim. 2. Remove the set plates. 3. Unzip th fully. e rear window, and lower the convertible top 4. Remove the beltline covers. 5. Remove the beltline protectors. 6. Remove the rain rail mounting fasteners from the body. 7. Leave the top latch assemblies in the unlocked position. Raise the convertible top completely. 8. Remove the rain rail from the studs. 9. Remove the rivets from the link assembly with a drill. Drill size: @4.0mm ($0.16 in) 10. REAR WINDOW s OUTER RAIN RAIL 9 , BELTLINE COVER PROTECTOR 5. lnstall the zipper stops to the rear window and the top fabric. 6. Affix the rear window to the top fabric with the Velcro. 7. Mount the outer rain rail to the studs. 8. Mount the top fabric to the studs. 9. Mount the rear window to the studs. 10. Mount the inner rain rail to the studs. 11. Loosely install the set plates beginning at the left side. 12. Unzip the rear window, and lower the convertible top fully. 13. lnstall the rain rail with the fasteners. 14. lnstall the beltline protectors. 15. lnstall the beltline cover. 16. Raise the convertible top completely, and lock the top latch assemblies. 17. Zip the rear window into place. 18. Tighten the set plate mounting nuts. Tightening torque: 8.Q-11.7 N.m (90-1 20 kgfem, 79-1 04 ft-lbf) 19. Rivet the top fabric to the link assembly. 20. lnstall the rear package trim. 21. If there is any sagging of the top fabric, remove the pull tab and realign the zipper. Gartner Banana

To remove the cabin carpet, first remove the following: a Seats (Refer to page S-65.) b Dashboard (Refer to page S-56.) c Heater unit (Refer to Section U) d Front side trim, scuff plates, quarter trim, and rear package trim (Refer to page S-59.) e Front seat belts and buckles (Refer to page S-63.) 2. SEAT BELT s SEAT BELT COMPONENTS L, Removal 1 Installation Caution The ELR has a spring that will unwind if the retractor's cover is removed. The spring cannot be rewound by hand. If this occurs, the ELR will not work properly. Therefore, do not disas- semble the retractor. 1. Remove the brace bar and the quarter trim. (Refer to page S-59,84) 2. s SEAT BELT SEAT BELT lnspection ELF? 1. Verify that the belt can be pulled out smoothly, and that d it moves smoothly when worn. 2. Verify that the retractor locks when the belt is quickly pulled. 3. Remove the retractor. 4. Hold the retractor as it would be installed. 5. Slowly incline the retractor while pulling out the belt. 6. Verify that the retractor locks at approximately 30 degrees inclination. Webbing Inspect the webbing for scars, tears, and wear and for deformation of the fittings. BUCKLE SWITCH lnspection 1. Disconnect the seat belt buckle switch connector. 2.
