The red indicator lamp for the electric parking brake flashes or is lit and/or the
yellow warning lamp for the electric parking brake is lit.
X Observe the additiona ldisplay messages in the multifunction display. 6

The red restraint system warning lamp is lit while the engine is running.
The restraint system is faulty.
G WARNING
The airbags or beltt ensioners may either be triggere dunintentionally or, in the
event of an accident, may not be triggered.
This poses an increased risk of injury.
X Observe the additiona ldisplay messages in the multifunction display.
X Drive on carefully.
X Contact aqualified specialist worksho pimmediatel yand have the restraint sys-
tem checked.

The yellow engine diagnostics warning lamp lights up while the engine is run-
ning.
There may be afault, for example:
R in the engine management
R in the fuel injection system
R in the exhaust system
R in the ignitio nsystem (for vehicles with petrol engines)
R in the fuel system
The emission limi tvalues may be exceede dand the engine may be running in
emergency mode.
X Consult aqualified specialist worksho pimmediately.
Vehicles with adiesel engine: the fuel tank has been run dry (Y page169).
X Start the engine three to four times after refuelling.
If the yellow engine diagnostics warning lamp goes out, emergency running
mode is cancelled. The vehicl eneed not be checked. 8

The yellow reserve fuel warning lamp is on while the engine is running.
The fuel leve lhas dropped into the reserve range.
Operation of the auxiliary heating is deactivated if the fuel leve ldrops into the
reserve range.

WARNING
If th erear bench seat/rear seat and seat
backres tare no tengaged they coul dfold for-
wards ,e.g.w hen braking suddenly or in the
even tofana ccident.
R The vehicle occupant would thereb ybe
pushe dintot he seat belt by th erear bench
seat/rear seat or by th eseat backrest. The
seat belt canno tprotect as intended and
coul dresult in additional injury.
R Object sorloads in th eboot canno tbe
restraine dbytheseat backrest.
This pose sanincreased risk of injury.
Before ever ytrip, mak esure that th eseat
backrests and th erear bench seat/rear seat
are engaged before ever ytrip.

The outside and th emiddle rear seat backrests
can be folded down separately to increas ethe
boot capacity. The division ratio is 40 %to20%to
40%.

The corresponding rear seat backrest is
released.
Vehicle swith memory function: when one or
both parts of the rear seat backrest are folded
forwards, the respective front seat moves
forward slightly, when necessary ,inorder to
avoid contact. Centre rear seat backrest

X Move the driver's or front-passenger seat
back if necessary.
Folding the rear seat backrest back !
Make sure that the seat belt does not
become trapped when folding the rear seat
backrest back. Otherwise ,itcould be dam-

X Move the driver's or front-passenger seat
forward if necessary.
X Fold rear seat backrest :back until it
engages.
If the rear seat backrest is not engaged and
locked, this willbes hown in the multifunction
display in the instrument cluster. Awarning

Do not affix the following to plastic surfaces:
R stickers
R films
R scented oil bottles or similari tems
You could otherwise damage the plastic.
! Do not allow cosmetics, insect repellent or
sunscreen to come in contact with the plastic
trim. This maintains the high-quality look of
the surfaces.
X Wipe the plastic trim with adamp, lint-free
cloth, e.g. amicrofibre cloth.
X Heavy soiling: use car care and cleaning
products recommended and approved by
Mercedes-Benz.
The surface may change colour temporarily.
Wait until the surface is dry again.
Cleaning the steering wheela nd gear or
selector lever X
Thoroughly wipe with adamp cloth or use
leather care agents that have been recom-
mended and approved by Mercedes-Benz.
Cleaning wooden trim and trim ele-
ments !
Do not use solvent-based cleaning agents
such as tar remover, wheel cleaners, polishes or waxes. There is otherwise arisk of damag-
ing the surface.
X Wipe the wooden trim and trim elements with
ad amp, lint-free cloth, e.g. amicrofibre cloth.
X Trim elements with piano black finish:
clean with
asoft, damp cloth and acommer-
cially available soap solution.
X Heavy soiling: use care and cleaning prod-
ucts recommended and approved by
Mercedes-Benz.
Cleaning the seat covers General notes
! Do not use
amicrofibre cloth to clean covers
made out of real leather, artificial leather or
DINAMICA. If used frequently, this can dam-
age the cover.
Note that regularc are is essential to make sure
that the appearance and comfort of the covers
are retained over time. Genuine leather seat covers
! To retain the natural appearance of the
leather, observe the following cleaning
instructions:
R Cleang enuine leather covers carefully with
ad amp cloth and then wipe the covers
down with adry cloth.
R Make sure that the leather does not
become soaked. It may otherwise become
rough and cracked.
R Only use leather care agents that have
been tested and approved by Mercedes-
Benz. You can obtain these from aqualified
specialist workshop.
Leather is anatural product.
It has natural surface properties, e.g.:
R unevenness in structure
R marks caused by growth and injury
R subtle colour differences
These are characteristics of leather and not
material faults.
Seat covers from other materials
! Observe the following when cleaning:
R clean artificial leather covers with acloth
moistened with asolution containing 1%
detergent (e.g. washing-up liquid).
R clean cloth covers with amicrofibre cloth
moistened with asolution containing 1%
detergent (e.g. washing-up liquid). Rub
carefully,a nd always wipe entire seat sec-
tions to avoid leaving visible lines. Leave
the seat to dry afterwards. Cleaning results depend on the type of dirt and how long it
has been there.
R CleanD INAMICA covers with adamp cloth.

Cleaning the seat belts G
WARNING
Seat belts may be severely weakened if
bleached or coloured. This may lead to the
seat belts, for example, tearing or failing in an accident. There is an increased risk of injury,
possibly even fatal.
Never bleach or colour seat belts. 332
CareMaintenance and care

!
Do not clean the seat belts using chemical
cleaning agents. Do not dry the seat belts at
temperatures above 80 †orindirect sun-
light.
X Use clean, lukewarm water and soap solution.
Cleaning the roof lininga nd carpetsX
Roof lining: if it is very dirty, use asoft brush
or dry shampoo.
X Carpets: use the carpet and textile cleaning
agents recommended and approved by
Mercedes-Benz. Care
