!Lock the car if you wash it in an automatic
car wash. Otherwise, the vehicle might be
damaged.
!Never clean your vehicle in aTouchless
Automatic Car Wash as these use special
cleaning agents. These cleaning agents can
damage the paintwork or plastic parts.
If you have your vehicle cleaned in ahigh-
pressure automatic car wash, small amounts
of water may enter the vehicle.
!Make sure that the automatic transmission
is in position Nwhen washing your vehicle in
at ow-through car wash. The vehicle could be
damagedift he transmission is in another
position.
!Make sure that:
Rthe side windows and the roof are com-
pletely closed
Rthe climate control blower is switched off
Rthe windshieldw iper switch is at position 0
The vehicle could otherwise be damaged.
You can clean the vehicle at an automatic car
wash from the very start.
Preferably clean the vehicle at automatic car
washes that use textile washing elements with-
out brushes. This prevents fine scratches from
forming on the paintwork and film.
If the vehicle is very dirty, pre-wash it before
cleaning it in an automatic car wash.
After using an automatic car wash, wipe off wax
from the windshielda nd the wiper blades. This
will prevent smears and reduce wiping noises
caused by residue on the windshield.
iVehicles with decorative film: select awash
program without hot wax at the automatic car
wash.
Washing by hand
In some countries, washing by hand is only
allowed at speciallye quipped washing bays.
Observe the legal requirements in each country.
XDo not use hot water and do not wash the
vehicle in direct sunlight.
XUse asoft sponge to clean.
XUse amild cleaning agent, such as acar
shampoo approved by Mercedes-Benz.
XThoroughly hose down the vehicle with agen-
tle jet of water.
XDo not point the water jet directly towards the
air inlet or the edges of decorative foils.
XUse plenty of water and rinse out the sponge
frequently.
XRinse the vehicle with clean water and dry
thoroughly with achamois.
XDo not let the cleaning agent dry on the paint-
work or the decorative foils.
Carefully remove all deposits of road salt as
soon as possible when driving in winter.
Powerw ashers
GWARNING
The water jet from acircular jet nozzle (dirt
blasters) can cause invisible exterior damage
to the tires or chassis components. Compo-
nentsd amagedint his way may fail unexpect-
edly.T here is arisk of an accident.
Do not use power washers with circular jet
nozzles to clean the vehicle. Have damaged
tires or chassis componentsr eplaced imme-
diately.
!Vehicles with decorative foil: parts of your
vehicle are covered with decorative foil. Main-
tain adistance of at least 27.5 in (70 cm)
between the foil-wrappedp arts of the vehicle
and the nozzle of the high pressure cleaner.
Information aboutt he correct distance is
available from the equipment manufacturer.
Move the power washer nozzle around when
cleaning your vehicle.
The water temperature of the high-pressure
cleaner must not exceed 140 °F (60 °C).
!Alwaysm aintainadistance of at least
11.8 in (30 cm) between the vehicle and the
power washer nozzle. Information aboutt he
correct distance is available from the equip-
ment manufacturer.
Move the power washer nozzle around when
cleaning your vehicle.

Damaged seals or electrical componentsc an
lead to leaks or failures.
!Do not use high-pressure cleaners if the
tank recess is open while you clean it. This
can cause damage to the seals or other com-
ponents.
Cleaning the paintwork
!Do not affix:
Rstickers
Rfilms
Rmagnetic plates or similar items
to painted surfaces. You could otherwise
damage the paintwork.
Scratches, corrosive deposits, areas affected by
corrosion and damage caused by inadequate
care cannot always be completely repaired. In
such cases, visit aqualified specialist workshop.
XRemove dirt immediately,w here possible,
while avoiding rubbing too hard.
XSoak insect remains with insect remover and
rinse off the treated areas afterwards.
XSoak bird droppings with water and rinse off
the treated areas afterwards.
XRemove coolant, brake fluid, tree resin, oils,
fuels and greases by rubbing gently with a
cloth soaked in petroleum ether or lighter
fluid.
XUse tar remover to remove tar stains.
XUse silicone remover to remove wax.
If water no longer forms "beads" on the paint
surface, use the paint care products recommen-
ded and approved by Mercedes-Benz.T his is the
case approximately every three to five months,
depending on the climate conditions and the
care product used.
If dirt has penetrated the paint surface or if the
paint has become dull,t he paint cleaner recom-
mended and approved by Mercedes-Benz
should be used.
Do not use these care products in the sun or on
the hood while the hood is hot.
XUse asuitable touch-up stick, e.g. MB Touch-
Up Stick,tor epair slight damage to the paint-
work quickly and provisionally.
Mattef inish care
!Never polish the vehicle or the light alloy
wheels. Polishing causes the finish to shine.
!The following can give the paint aglossy
appearance and thus reduce the matt effect:
RRubbing hard with unsuitable agents
RWashing the vehicle in direct sunlight
!Never use paint cleaner, buffing or polishing
products, or gloss preserver, e.g. wax, for the
purpose of paintwork care. These products
are only suitable for high-gloss surfaces. Their
use on vehicles with matte paintwork leads to
considerable surface damage or, more spe-
cifically,tos hiny, spotted areas.
Always have paintwork repairs carried out at a
qualified specialist workshop.
!Only use automatic car washes which cor-
respond to the latest technological stand-
ards. Never use wash programs which finish
by treating the vehicle with hot wax.
Observe these notes if your vehicle has aclear
matte finish. This will help you to avoid damage
to the paintwork due to incorrect treatment.
These notes also apply to light alloy wheels with
ac lear matte finish.
iUse only insect remover and car shampoo
from the range of recommended and
approved Mercedes-Benz care products.
Cleaning the decorative film
!The following may have an effect on the ser-
vice life and coloring of decorative film:
Rsunlight
Rtemperature, e.g. hot-air fan
Rweather conditions
Rstone impacts and dirt
Rchemical cleaning agents
Rgreasy substances
!Do not use any types of polish on matt dec-
orative film. Polishing surfaces covered with
film gives it ashiny finish.
!Do not treat matt or structured decorative
film with wax. This may lead to marks that
cannot be removed.

Observe the notes in the section on the care and
treatment of matt paintwork (Ypage 240);
these notes also apply to decorative film.
To clean, use plenty of water and amild cleaning
agent without additional or abrasive products,
e.g. acar shampoo approved by Mercedes-
Benz.
XRemove bird droppings, tree resin or fuel as
soon as possible.
The decorative film may be irreparably dam-
aged.
XDry vehicles covered with film using asoft,
absorbent cloth after every wash.
Water marks could otherwise form.
Scratches, corrosive deposits, areas affected by
corrosion and damage caused by inadequate
care cannot always be completely repaired. In
such cases, visit aqualified specialist workshop.
The cleaning product Paint Cleaner, which has
been approved and recommended by
Mercedes-Benz,s hould be used when dirt has
penetrated the decorative film surface or the
decorative film has become dull.
The manufacturer can provide you with infor-
mation on special care and cleaning products.
Surfaces covered with film may appears hinier
after the decorative film has been removed.
iHave work or repairs on decorative film car-
ried out at aqualified specialist workshop.
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use an
authorized Mercedes-Benz Center for this
purpose.

Cleaning the wheels
GWARNING

to remove brake dust. This could damage
wheel bolts and brake components.

cleaning the wheel rim with wheel cleaner.
Wheel cleaner can lead to the increased cor-
rosion of the brake discs and pads. Therefore,
drive for afew minutes after cleaning. By
heating up the brakes, the brake discs and
pads dry. The vehicle can then be parked for a
long period of time.
Cleaning the windows
GWARNING
You could become trapped by the windshield wipers if they start moving while cleaning the
windshieldorw iper blades. There is arisk of
injury.
Alwayss witch off the windshieldw ipers and
the ignition before cleaning the windshieldo r
wiper blades.
!Do not use dry cloths, abrasive products,
solvents or cleaning agents containing sol-
vents to clean the inside of the windows. Do
not touch the insides of the windows with
hard objects, e.g. an ice scraper or ring. There
is otherwise arisk of damaging the windows.
!Cleant he water drainage channels of the
windshielda nd the rear window at regular
intervals. Deposits such as leaves, petals and pollen may under certain circumstances pre-
vent water from draining away. This can lead
to corrosion damage and damage to elec-
tronic components.
XCleant he inside and outside of the windows
with adamp cloth and acleaning product that
is recommended and approved by Mercedes-
Benz.
Cleaning wiper blades
GWARNING
If the windshieldw ipers are set in motion
while you are cleaning the windshield, you can be trapped by the wiper arm. There is arisk of
injury.

the ignition before cleaning the windshield.

The reflective safety jackets are located in the

compartments of the front doors.T here are also
safety jacket compartments in the stowage
compartments of the rear doors,inw hich reflec-
tive safety jackets can be stowed.

MOExtended tires (tires with run-flat
properties)
General notes
With MOExtended tires (tires with run flat char-
acteristics), you can continue to drive you rvehi-
cle even if there is atotal loss of pressure in one
or more tires. The affected tire must not show
any clearly visible damage.
You can recognize aMOExtended tire by the
MOExtended marking which appears on the
sidewal lofthe tire. You wil lfind this marking
next to the tire size designation, the load-bear-
ing capacity and the speedi ndex (
Ypage275).
MOExtended tires may only be use dinconjunc-
tion with an active tire pressure loss warning
system or with an active tire pressure monitor.

Rcheck the tire for damage
Rif driving on, observe the following notes
The driving distance possible in run-fla tmode is
approximately 50 mile s(80 km) when the vehi-
cle is partiall yladen and approximately 19 miles
(30 km) when the vehicleisf ullyladen.
In addition to the vehiclel oad, the driving dis-
tance possible depends upon:
Rvehicles peed
Rroad condition
Routside temperature
The driving distance possible in run-fla tmode
may be reduced by extreme driving conditions
or maneuvers, or it can be increased through a
moderate style of driving.
The driving distance possible in run-fla tmode is
counted from the moment the tire pressure loss
warning appears in the multifunction display.
You must not exceed amaximu mdesign speed
of 50 mph (80 km/h).
When replacing one or all tires, please observe
the following specifications for you rvehicle's
tires:

If at ire has gone flat and cannot be replaced
with aMOExtended tire, astandard tire may be

sure. Make sure thatyou use the propers
ize and type (summer or
winter tire).
Vehicles equipped with MOExtended tires are
not equipped with aTIREFIT kit at the factory. It
is therefore recommendedt hat you additionally
equip you rvehiclew ithaTIREFIT kit if you mount
tires that do not feature run-fla tcharacteristics,
e.g. winter tires. ATIREFIT kit can be obtained
from aqualified specialist workshop, for exam-
ple.
Important safety notes
GWARNING
When driving in emergency mode, the driving
characteristics deteriorate, e.g. when corner-
ing, accelerating quickly and when braking.
There is arisk of an accident.
Do not exceed the stated maximu mspeed.
Avoid abrupt steering and driving maneuvers,
and driving over obstacles (curbs, potholes,
off-road). This appliesinp articulartoaladen
vehicle.
Stop driving in emergency mode if:
Ryou hearb anging noises.
Rthe vehicles tarts to shake.
Ryou see smoke and smell rubber.
RESP®is intervening constantly.
Rthere are tears in the sidewalls of the tire.
After driving in emergency mode, have the
wheelr ims checked at aqualified specialist
workshopw ith regard to their further use .The
defective tire must be replaced in every case.
TIREFIT kit
Important safety notes
TIREFIT is atire sealant.
You can use TIREFIT to seal puncture sofupto
0.16 in (4 mm) ,particularly those in the tire
tread. You can use TIREFIT at outside tempera-
tures downt oÒ4‡( Ò20 †).

GWARNING
In the following situations, the tire sealant is
unable to provides ufficient breakdown assis-
tance, as it is unable to seal the tire properly:
Rthere are cuts or puncture sinthe tire larger
than those mentioned above.
Rthe wheelr im is damaged.
Ryou have drivenatv ery low tire pressures or
on aflat tire.
There is arisk of an accident.
Do not drive the vehicle. Contact aqualified
specialist workshop.
GWARNING
The tire sealant is harmfu land causes irrita-
tion. It must not come into contact with your
skin, eye sorclothing or be swallowed.Don ot
inhal eTIREFIT fumes .Keep tire sealant away
from children. There is arisk of injury.
If you come into contact with the tire sealant,
observe the following:
RRinse off the tire sealant from you rskin
immediatel ywith water.
RIf the tire sealant comes into contact with
you reyes, immediatel yrinse them thor-
oughly with cleanw ater.
RIf tire sealant is swallowed,i mmediately
rinse you rmouth out thoroughly and drink
plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting,
and seek medical attention immediately.
RImmediately change out of clothing which
has come into contact with tire sealant.
RIf an allergic reactio noccurs, seek medical
attention immediately.
!Do not operate the tire inflation compressor
for longer than eightm inutes atatime without
ab reak. It may otherwise overheat.
The tire inflation compressor can be operated
again once it has cooledd own.
Comply with the manufacturer’s safety instruc-
tions on the sticker on the tire inflation com-
pressor.
Using the TIREFIT kit
XDo not remove any foreigno bjects which have
penetrated the tire, e.g. screws or nails.
XRemove the tire sealant bottle, the accompa-
nying TIREFIT sticker and the tire inflation
compressor from the stowage wellu nder-
neath the trunk floor (
Ypag e245).
XAffix part :of the TIREFIT sticker to the
instrument cluster withi nthe driver's fieldo f
vision.
XAffix part ;of the TIREFIT sticker near the
valve on the wheelw ith the defective tire.
XRemove filler hoseBand plug =from the
bottom section of the tire inflation compres-
sor housing.
XSlide the yellow filler hose connector into the
mounting on yellow cap Aof tire sealant bot-
tle : until the pluge ngages.
XWith the sealing rings in front, slidey ellow cap
A of tire sealant bottle :into the mounting
of tire inflation compressor ;.
The cap must engag einboth hooks.
