The door and tailgate unlock function can beset to the following two conditions.Each time the door and tailgate unlock func-tion is set, a chime will sound to tell you thecondition of the door and tailgate unlockfunction.1. Put the operation mode in OFF.2. Place the combination headlamps and dip-per switch in the “OFF” position, andleave the driver’s door open.3. Press the LOCK switch (1) for 4 to 10seconds and press the UNLOCK switch(2) during this time.
4. Release in sequence the LOCK andUNLOCK switches within 10 seconds ofpressing the LOCK switch in step 3.

Before replacing the battery, remove staticelectricity from your body by touching ametal grounded object.
zThe keyless entry system does not operatewhen the door or tailgate is open. zThe remote control switch will operatewithin about 4 m from the vehicle. However,the operating range of the remote controlswitch may change if the vehicle is locatednear a power station,
or radio/TV broadcast-
ing station. zIf either of the following problems occurs,the battery may be exhausted.•The remote control switch is operated at thecorrect distance from the vehicle, but thedoors and tailgate are
not locked/unlocked
in response.•The indicator lamp (4) is dim or does notcome on.For further information, please consult yourMITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorised Ser-vice Point.If you replace the battery yourself, refer to“Procedure for replacing the remote controlswitch battery” on page 4-5.
zIf your remote control switch is lost or dam-aged, please contact
your MITSUBISHI

warning display is displayed on the informa-tion screen in the multi information display.

CAUTION zIf a vehicle is driven without releasing theparking brake, the brake will be overheated,resulting in ineffectiv
e braking and possible
brake failure.If this warning is displayed, release the park-ing brake.CAUTION zIf this warning stays illuminated and doesnot go out while driving, there is a danger ofineffective braking. If this happens, immedi-ately park your vehicle in a safe place andwe recommend you to have it checked.
zIf the brake warning disp
lay is displayed and
the brake warning lamp and the ABS warn-ing lamp are illuminated at the same time,the braking force dist
ribution function will
not operate, so the vehicle may be destabi-lised during sudden braking. Avoid suddenbraking and high-speed driving, stop thevehicle in a safe place, and we recommendyou to have it checked. zThe vehicle should be brought to a halt in thefollowing manner when brake performancehas deteriorated.•Depress the brake pedal harder than usual.Even if the brake pe
dal moves down to the
very end of its possible stroke, keep itpressed down hard.• Should the brakes fail, use regenerativebrake to reduce your speed and carefullypull the parking brake lever.Depress the brake pedal to operate the stoplamp to alert the vehicles behind you.
