TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS
6. Accelerate to wide open throttle gradually while applying footbrake.
7. Quickly note the engine stall revolution and immediately release throttle.
CAUTION:
Do not hold down the accelerator pedal for more than 5 sec-
onds during this test.
8. Move selector lever to “N” position.
9. Cool off ATF. CAUTION:
Run the engine at idle for at least 1 minute.
10. Repeat steps 6 through 9 with selector lever in “2”, “1” and “R” positions.
Judgement of Stall Test
The test result and possible damaged components relating to each result are shown in the illustrations on next
page.
In order to pinpoint the possible damaged components, refer to AT-43, "
How to Perform Trouble Diagnosis for
Quick and Accurate Repair".
NOTE:
Stall revolution is too high in “D”, “2”, or “1” position:
• Slippage occurs in 1GR but not in 2GR and 3GR. ..... Low one-way clutch slippage
• Slippage occurs in the following gears:
1GR through 3GR in “D” position and engine brake functions with OD OFF. (OD OFF indicator lamp is on.)
1GR and 2GR in “2” position and engine brake functions with accelerator pedal released (fully closed throt-
tle)...... Forward clutch or forward one-way clutch slippage
Stall revolution is too high in “R” position:
• Engine brake does not function in “1” posit ion. ..... Low & reverse brake slippage
• Engine brake functions in “1” position. ..... Reverse clutch slippage
Stall revolution within specifications:
• Vehicle does not achieve speed of more than 80 km/h ( 50 MPH). ..... One-way clutch seizure in torque con-
verter housing
CAUTION:
Be careful because automatic flui d temperature increases abnormally:
• Slippage occurs in 3GR and 4GR in “D” position. ..... High clutch slippage
• Slippage occurs in 2GR and 4GR in “D” position. ..... Brake band slippage
• Engine brake does not function in 2GR and 3GR in “D” pos ition, 2GR in “2” position, and 1GR in “1” position
with OD OFF. (OD OFF indicator lamp is on.) ..... Overrun clutch slippage
Stall revolution less than specifications:
• Poor acceleration during starts. ..... One-way clutch seizure in torque converter Stall revolution:

INPUT SPEED SENSOR A
INPUT SPEED SENSOR A
DescriptionINFOID:0000000005397371
The input speed sensor detects forward clutch drum rpm (revolutions per minute). It is located on the input
side of the automatic transaxle. The output speed sensor is located on the output side of the automatic tran-
saxle. With the two sensors, input and output rpms are accurately detected. As a result, optimal shift timing
during deceleration and shift quality can be improved.

The Bluetooth control unit has two diagnostic checks. The first diagnostic check is performed automatically
every ignition cycle during control unit initialization. The second diagnostic check is performed by the techni-
cian using the steering wheel audio control switches prior to trouble diagnosis.
BLUETOOTH CONTROL UNIT INITIALIZATION CHECKS
• Internal control unit failure
• Bluetooth antenna connection open or shorted
• Steering wheel audio control switches (PHONE/SEND, PHONE/END) stuck closed
• Vehicle speed pulse count
• Bluetooth Microphone connection test (with playback to operator)
• Bluetooth inquiry check
SELF-DIAGNOSIS MODE
1. Turn ignition switch to ACC or ON.
2. Wait for the Bluetooth system to complete initialization. This may take up to 20 seconds.
3. Press and hold the steering wheel audio control switch PHONE/ SEND button for at least 5 seconds. The Bluetooth system will
begin to play a verbal prompt.
NOTE:
At any time, press and hold the steering wheel audio control
switch PHONE/SEND button for at least 5 seconds to exit diag-
nostic mode.
4. While the prompt is playing, press and hold the steering wheel audio control switch PHONE/END button for at least 5 seconds.
The Bluetooth system will sound a 5 second beep.
5. While the beep is sounding, press and hold the steering wheel audio control switch PHONE/END button for at least 5 seconds
again.
6. The Bluetooth system has now entered into the diagnostic
mode. Results of the diagnostic checks will be verbalized to the
technician. Refer to AV-82, "
Workflow".
7. If there are no failure records to report, the speed pulse count
will be reported next.
8. After the speed pulse count is reported, an interactive Bluetooth microphone test will be performed. Follow the voice pr ompt. If the Bluetooth microphone test fails refer to
AV-82, "
Workflow".
9. Self-diagnosis mode is complete when the voice prompt says "All diagnostic functions completed". A short beep is heard.

OUTLINE
Functions available by operating the inside door lock and unlock switches
• Interlocked with the locking operation of door lock and unlock switch, door lock actuators of all doors and
trunk (sedan) are locked.
• Interlocked with the unlocking operation of door lock and unlock switch, door lock actuators of all doors and
trunk (sedan) are unlocked.
Functions available by operating t he front door key cylinder switch LH
• Interlocked with the locking operation of front door key cylinder switch LH, door lock actuators of all doors
and trunk (sedan) are locked.
• When front door key cylinder switch LH is unlo cked, front door lock actuator LH is unlocked.
• When front door key cylinder switch LH is unlocked for the second time within 5 seconds after the first oper- ation, door lock actuators on all doors and trunk (sedan) are unlocked.
Key reminder door system
When door lock and unlock switch is operated to lock doors with ignition key inserted in key cylinder and any
door open, all door lock actuators are locked and then unlocked.
AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS (LOCK OPERATION)
The interlock door lock function is the function that locks all doors linked with the vehicle speed.
Vehicle Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock*1
All doors are locked when the vehicle speed reaches 24 km/h (15 MPH) or more.
BCM outputs the lock signal to all door lock actuators when it detects that the ignition switch is turned ON, all
doors are closed and the vehicle speed received from the combination meter via CAN communication
becomes 15 MPH (24 km/h) or more.
If a door is opened and closed at any time during one ignition cycle (OFF → ON), even after initial auto door
lock has taken place, the BCM will relock all doors when the vehicle speed reaches 15 MPH (24 km/h) or more
again.
Setting change of Automatic Door Locks (LOCK) Function
The lock operation setting of the autom atic door locks function can be changed.
With CONSULT-III
The ON/OFF switching of the automatic door locks (LOC K) function and the type selection of the automatic
door locks (LOCK) function can be performed at the WO RK SUPPORT setting of CONSULT-III. Refer to BL-
41, "CONSULT-III Function (BCM)".
Without CONSULT- III
The automatic door locks (LOCK) function can be swit ched ON/OFF by performing the following operation.
1. Close all doors (door switch OFF).
2. Turn ignition switch ON.
3. Within 20 seconds of turning the ignition switch ON, press and hold the door lock and unlock switch to the LOCK position for more than 5 seconds.
4. The switching is completed when the hazard lamps blink.
5. The ignition switch must be turned OFF and ON again between each setting change.

For vehicles equipped with Intelligent Key system, all doors are unlocked when the power supply position is
changed from ON to OFF.
For vehicles not equipped with Intelligent Key system , all doors are unlocked when the mechanical key is

changed from ignition switch ON to OFF (with Intelligent Key) or when the mechanical key is removed from the
ignition key cylinder (without Intelligent Key).
Setting change of Automatic Door Locks (UNLOCK) Function
The lock operation setting of the aut omatic door locks function can be changed.
