Normal operation of the ABS may make itself felt by slight vibrationsof the brake pedal. In emergency braking, press very firmly without releasingthe pressure.ANTI-LOCK BRAKING
SYSTEM (ABS) AND THEELECTRONIC BRAKE FORCEDISTRIBUTION (EBFD)
The ABS, in conjunction with the electronic brake force distribution,increases the stability and manoe-vrability of your vehicle, particularlyon poor or slippery road surfaces. Note:
when changing wheels (tyres
and rims), make sure that these are approved. The anti-lock braking system comes into operation automatically whenthere is a risk of wheel lock.
When this warning lightcomes on, accompanied bya buzzer and the message"ABS fault" , it indicates
that there is a malfunction of theABS, which can cause a loss ofcontrol of the vehicle when braking.
HANDBRAKE Applying Pull the handbrake to immobilise your vehicle.
Warning:
when parking on a slope,
direct your wheels towards the pavement and pull the handbrake. Releasing Pull on the handle and press the button to release the handbrake.
Illumination of this warninglight and of the STOPwarning
light, accompanied by an audi-ble signal (while the vehicle is
being driven) and the message "hand-
brake on" on the multi-function display,
indicates that the handbrake is still onor has not been properly released.
EMERGENCY BRAKING
ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
In an emergency, this system enables the optimum braking pres-
sure to be reached more quickly,thus reducing the stopping distance. It is triggered by the speed at which
the brake pedal is activated. The
effect of this is a reduction in theresistance of the pedal and an
increase in braking efficiency. In the event of emergency braking, depending on the force of the decel-eration, the hazard warning lights are
switched on automatically. They are
switched off automatically on accel-eration.
When this warning lightcomes on, connected to the
STOP and ABS warning
lights, accompanied by a
buzzer and the message 'Braking
fault' , it indicates that there is a mal-
function of the electronic brake forcedistribution, which can cause a loss ofcontrol of the vehicle when braking.
Stop immediately.In both cases, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer.

PUNCTURES Because this version does not pos- sess a spare wheel, you have twoaerosols for temporary tyre repairsstored in an insulated storage box

secured by a strap to the right-handside of the boot. Using a repair aerosol (See also the instructions on the aerosols). 
If possible remove the foreign body which caused the puncture.
 Position the wheel so that thevalve is at the 2 o'clock or 10o'clock position.
 Shake the aerosol vigorously
before use. (In very cold weather,warm the aerosol for a few min-utes in your hands).
 In one hand hold the valve.
 With the other, firmly push thespray end of the aerosol onto thevalve, keeping it centralised.
 Maintain the pressure firmly forone minute, then immediatelydrive at moderate speed to the
nearest garage. Aersosols enable a tem-porary repair to be car-ried out (maximum speed50 mph (80 km/h)).
After use, it is necessary toreplace the tyre. Because the aerosols are pres- surised, they must not be exposedto a temperature higher than
50 ¡C. Keep them away from heat in their insulated storage box.

TOWING A TRAILER,
CARAVAN, BOAT etc.
Only use original PEUGEOT tow bars that have been tested andapproved from the design stage of
your vehicle. The tow bar must be
fitted by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Your vehicle is primarily designed for transporting people and luggagebut it may also be used for towing a
trailer. Driving with a trailer subjects the towing vehicle to more significantstress and its driver must beparticularly careful. Air density decreases with altitude, thus reducing engine performance.Above 1000 metres, the maximumtowing load must be reduced by 10% and so on for every 1000 metres of altitude.Driving advice Distribution of loads :
Distribute
the load in the trailer so that the heaviest items are as close as pos-sible to the axle and the nose weightapproaches the maximum permittedwithout exceeding it. Cooling :
Towing a trailer on a slope increases the temperature of the coolant. As the fan is electrically controlled, its cooling capacity is not dependenton the engine speed.
On the contrary, use a high gear to lower the engine speed and reduceyour speed. The maximum towing load on a long slope depends on the gradient andthe outside temperature. In all cases, pay attention to the coolant temperature. If the warning light comes on, stop
the vehicle and switch off the engineas soon as possible. Tyres : Check the tyre pressures of the tow-
ing vehicle and of the trailer, observ-ing the recommended pressures. Braking :
Towing increases the braking distance. Lights : Check the electrical signalling on the
trailer. Side wind :
Take into acount the increased sensitivity to side wind.
