Rules for transporting children on the front passenger seat**: Children under the age of 10 must not travel in the forwards facingposition, unless the rear seats arealready occupied by other childrenor the rear seats cannot be used(absent or folded). In this case, adjust the front passenger seat tothe most rearward position and armthe passenger air bag. The rearwards facing position is per- mitted from birth to 18 kg. In thisposition, it is essential to disarm thepassenger air bag.
GENERAL POINTS RELATING TO CHILD SEATS Although one of PEUGEOT's main criteria when designing your vehicle, the safe- ty of your children also depends on you.
For maximum safety, please follow these precautions:
Ð Since 1992, all children under the age of 10 must travel in approved child
seats* suited to their weight , on seats fitted with a seat belt.
In order to recognise a child seat which conforms to current legislation, check
that it bears an orange label indicating the weight range for its use and its approval number .
Ð A child weighing less than 9 kg must travel in the rearwards facing posi-tion both in the front and in the rear .
Ð The safest seats in your vehicle for the transportation of children are therear seats .
Ð If a child is travelling on a booster seat, check that the lap section of the seat belt passes over the child's thighs correctly. The chest section of the seat belt must be
positioned on the child's shoulder without touching the neck. PEUGEOT recom-mends that you use a booster seat with a back, fitted with a seat belt guide.
Ð Remember to fasten the seat belt or the child seat harness keeping the slack
in relation to the child's body to a minimum , even for short journeys.
* According to current legislation in the country.
** Consult the relevant administration in your country for information regarding the rules for transporting children on the front passenger seat.

In the rear, in the forwards facing position, the front passenger seatmust be in the intermediate longitu-dinal position, with the seat backupright.
The ISOFIX KIDDY child seat may also be used where there are noIsofix mountings. In this case it iscompulsory to attach it to the vehi-cle's seat using the three-point seatbelt for the rearwards facing and for-wards facing positions.
If the ISOFIX KIDDY seat is fitted in the rearwards facing positionon the front passenger seat, it isessential to disarm the passengerair bag. To lock the seat beltsPull the strap, then insert the buckle into the stalk. Pre-tensioning and force-limitingfront seat belts Safety in the event of a frontal impact has been improved by the introduc-tion of pre-tensioning and force-limit-ing front seat belts. Depending onthe seriousness of the impact, thepre-tensioning system instantly tight-ens the seat belt firmly against thebody of the occupant. The pre-tensioning seat belts are active when the ignition is on. The force-limiting device reduces the pressure of the seat belt against theoccupant's body in the event of anaccident. Rear seat belts The three rear seats are all fitted with three-point inertia reel belts.

To be effective, a seat belt must be tightened asclose to the body as pos-sible.
Depending on the nature and theseriousness of the impact, thepre-tensioners may be triggeredbefore and independently of theair bags. In all cases, the air bag warning light comes on. Following a collision, have the system checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer. The system has been designed to be fully operational for ten years. Have it replaced after this period.
