Manual windows
Turn the handle to raise or lower the windows. Electric windows* The switches

position. To fully raise or lower the
driver's window, press the switchmore firmly and then release it. Ensure that children are clear of the windows before opening orclosing them. Side windows
To open the side windows, pull the
lever and push the window.
To close, pull then push the lever. CAUTION As a (child) safety measure, remove the ignition key whenleaving the vehicle, even for ashort period.I-11WINDOWS

Repriming the circuit
To reprime after running out of diesel : - Fill the tank with at least five litres of diesel, with the vehicle parked on as level a surface as possible. - Operate the manual repriming pump until resistance is felt.
- Operate the starter, pressing the accelerator lightly until the engine starts. If the engine fails to start at the first attempt, wait for 15 seconds and then try again. If it fails to start after several attempts, repeat the operation from the beginning. With the engine at idle, press the accelerator lightly to bleed the system.
86V- 3DIESEL INJECTION SYSTEM
1.9 Diesel engine, removal of the engine undertray- Pull the securing clip Atowards the front
of the vehicle.
- Remove the dipstick.
- Unscrew bolt Band remove it.
- Remove the undertray.
- Reprime the circuit.
- Refit the undertray (engine not running).

Fuel supply cut-off switch This switch is located under the bonnet on the right hand side
To restore the fuel supply after a cut-off, press the top of the switch as shown in the diagram.
87V- 4FUEL CUT-OFF SYSTEM*
If your vehicle is fitted with a device which cuts off the fuel supply, this provides additional safety in the majority or frontal or rear impacts.* According to specification or country.
Before switching the ignition on again,
make sure that there is no fuel leakage or smell of fuel.

Power steering reservoir

Engine oil dipstick Check with the vehicle on a level surface and at leastten minutes after having
switched off the engine. Never exceed the maxi- mum level.
Check the level regularly.Maxi Mini
Caution
Take care when carrying out checks under the bonnet when theengine is hot, even if the engine is
switched off, as the cooling fancan start up at any time. The engine oil should be checked regularly between the servicevisits recommended by the manu-
facturer, as well as before longjourneys.
Topping up brake fluid

Front and rear screenwash and headlampwash* reservoir

Topping up enginecoolant
See ÒLEVELS AND CHECKSÓ. Note : If it is necessary to top up
the coolant frequently this indi- cates a fault which should bechecked as soon as possible.V- 1LEVELS

Topping up engine coolant Engine cold : The coolant level should be between the MINI and MAXI marks.
Engine warm : Wait for 15 minutes, the coolant temperature must be below 100¡C. Protect your
hands with a cloth, and slowly unscrew the cap as far as the safety catch to release the pressure.
Level :
Top up.
If more than 1 litre of coolant is required, have the cooling circuit checked by an approved dealer. Ensure that the cap is properly locked in position on the 2nd notch.
If it is necessary to add fluid frequently, this indicates a fault which should be checked as soon as possible.

This is a delicate operation which must be performed by an approved dealer.

Radiator - engine coolant
The coolant level should only be checked when the engine is cold. The level must always be between the MINI and MAXI marks on the vertical part ofthe radiator (water tank, cap side) for petrol engines, or in the reservoir ope-ning for diesel engines. The coolant contains an anti-freeze which not only enables it to withstand low temperatures (original protection to minus 37¡C) but also makes it anti-corrosive and resistant to high temperatures.
