Fault finding - Replacement of components
For information on removing/refitting the LPN* radio navigation computer, refer to the MR for the vehicle concerned:
–Scénic II ph2 (see MR 370, Mechanical, 83C On-board telematics system, Navigation computer: Removal -
Refitting)

Operations to be carried out before replacing the LPN* radio navigation computer:
Note:
If the LPN* radio navigation computer and the multimedia network interface unit are replaced
simultaneously, first configure the multimedia network interface unit (see 86D, multimedia network interface
unit, Configuration and programming).
1 -Before replacing the LPN* radio navigation computer (with Techline approval), perform a fault read and a
conformity check to confirm that it is defective.
2 -Before removing, eject the CD.
3 -After obtaining Techline approval, remove the LPN* radio navigation computer with the ignition off (wait
1 minute for the system to shut down completely).
The LPN* radio navigation computers available from the Parts Department are supplied unconfigured.
Operations to be carried out after replacing the LPN* radio navigation computer:
1. Configure the computer (see Configurations and Programming).
The LPN* radio navigation computer is in factory mode following configuration (FM 87.5 MHz in scrambled mode for
2 minutes).
Clear the present or stored faults using command RZ003 Fault memory.
2. Enter the unlocking code for the LPN* radio navigation system
How to obtain the unlocking code for the LPN* radio navigation system:
–switch on + after ignition feed (see Introduction),
–if the LPN* radio navigation system does not switch on when the + after ignition feed is activated, press the ON/
OFF button on the front panel,
–connect the Clip diagnostic tool,
–note the programming key number ID007 Radio programming key shown in the Identification menu.
–When you have this programming key number, consult Renault.net to obtain the LPN* radio navigation system
unlocking code. If the fault is still present, contact Techline.
–The unlocking code is requested 2 minutes after the LPN* radio navigation system has been switched on,
–enter the code using the radio control satellite under the steering wheel.
Important: After activating the system, the delay before establishing dialogue can last 20 seconds.

Each time an incorrect code is entered, the waiting time doubles (maximum 32 minutes).

ALP 10 No radio and/or CD sound
NOTESOnly check the customer complaint after performing a full check with the diagnostic
tool.
Ensure there are no present or stored faults.
Use the wiring diagrams Technical Note for Scénic II ph2, Espace IV ph2,
Trafic II ph2 or Kangoo 2.
The message PAUSE is displayed on the radio display.

Check the condition of the MUTE button on the steering wheel control (see 86D, Multimedia network interface
unit).
Check the FADER setting:
In the AUDIO settings menu (SET button). Select the "audio" and "fader" menus, then adjust the fader by
moving the cursor using the central wheel on the front panel.
Has the fault disappeared?
NO YES
Run the commands to test the speakers (see
Command summary table).
Has the fault disappeared?
NO YES
Contact the Techline.

ALP 13 No navigation voice messages
NOTESOnly check the customer complaint after performing a full check with the diagnostic
tool.
Ensure there are no present or stored faults.
Check that the sound from the radio is coming
through the front speakers.
Is the sound coming from the speakers?
YES
Check the voice guidance volume. To adjust it, press
the "REPEAT" button during a guidance procedure,
then the "+" or "-" buttons. The volume value is
displayed on the screen: "NAV VOL = X".
Is the "Voice messages" option active?
YES
Check that the volume is correctly set.
In the AUDIO settings menu (Audio settings button). Select the "volumes" then "NAV" menus and press the
+ button on the satellite several times to obtain at least volume 13.
Do your hear the: "+ loud" message?
YES
The fault is resolved
Customer misunderstanding.

ALP 14The volume does not increase in accordance with the vehicle
speed
NOTESOnly check the customer complaint after performing a full check with the diagnostic

Ensure there are no present or stored faults.
Check the correction value of the speed-dependent volume in the "Audio" menu (accessed by pressing the SET
button), then select "menu", "audio" and "Main options": volume/speed.
Setting 0: no adjustment.
Setting 5: maximum adjustment.
Increase the adjustment value to 5.
Has the fault disappeared?
NO YES
Check the conformity of parameter PR010 Vehicle
speed.

The recommended adjustment level is level 3.

ALP 15 No traffic information messages on the screen
NOTESOnly consult this customer complaint after a complete check with the diagnostic
tool.
Ensure there are no present or stored faults.
Place the vehicle in an open area for 5 minutes with the system switched on.
Traffic information (TMC) is transmitted via the radio's FM band.
Switch on the traffic information function (see handbook).
Press the "SET" button to display the settings menu. Select "Navigation" then "Traffic information (TMC)" then
"Select service".
Use automatic selection to find the optimum service with the clearest reception (see handbook).
Is the system set to automatic selection?
YES NO
No TMC service can be decoded in the
geographical area:
–Either the vehicle is in a reception dead spot,
–or the country in question does not offer a service
decodable by the system.
End of fault finding.
Activate traffic information automatic selection (see
handbook).
Carry out a road test.

Check that Bluetooth mode is activated in the navigation and communication system.
Press the SET button and select the Telephone, Bluetooth option and Bluetooth connection menus.
Has the telephone been researched by Renault?

Check that the telephone software on the telephone
is compatible with the vehicle's navigation and
communication system.
Consult the list of compatible phones on the
"RENAULT.net intranet" site.
Is the telephone software compatible with the

On the navigation and communication system:
–Press the SET button.
–Access the Telephone menu.
–Select the Bluetooth option line.
–Select the Save a Bluetooth telephone line.
On the telephone:
–Enter the menu to find a Bluetooth accessory.
–In the list of accessories found, select My CAR.
–Enter the PIN code given on the vehicle's
navigation display.

–Bluetooth.
