bonnetandthewindscreen).FaulttracingAnauthorisedVolvoworkshophastheinstru-
mentsandtoolsrequiredforanyfaulttracing
orrepairofyourclimatecontrolsystem.
Entrustchecksandrepairsonlytotrained
personnel.RefrigerantTheairconditioningsystemcontainsR134a
refrigerant.Thisrefrigerantcontainsno
chlorine,whichmeansthatitisharmlessto
theozonelayer.Thesystemmustonlybe
chargedwithR134arefrigerant.Havean
authorisedVolvoworkshopcarryoutthis
work.
VentilationfanfunctionWhentheengineisoff(andiftheignitionkey
isinpositionIorII),theventilationfanis
automaticallyswitchedoff.Thisistoprevent
thebatteryfrombecomingdischarged.
Toactivatetheventilationfan,turnthefan
controlandsetthedesiredspeed.CarswithECCActualtemperature
Thetemperatureyouselectcorrespondsto
thephysicalexperiencewithreferencetoair
speed,humidity,exposuretosun,etc.which
affecttheinteriorandexteriorofthecar.
Sensors
Thesunsensorisontheupperportionofthe
dashboard.Remembernottocoverit.Donot
coverthepassengercompartmenttemper-
aturesensorontheclimatecontrolpanel.
Sidewindowsandsunroof
Toensurethattheairconditioningworks
satisfactorily,closeallsidewindowsandthe
sunroof(iffitted).
Acceleration
Theairconditioningsystemswitchesoff
temporarilyatfullacceleration.Youmayfeel
atemporaryriseintemperature.Condensation
Inwarmweather,condensationfromtheair
conditioningsystemmaydripunderthecar.
Thisisnormal.
Fueleconomy
WithECC,theairconditioningsystemis
controlledautomaticallyandisusedjust
enoughtocoolthepassengercompartment
andtoadequatelydehumidifytheincoming
air.Thisprovidesbetterfueleconomy
comparedtoconventionalsystemswherethe
airconditioningcoolstheairtojustabove
freezingpoint.

1.A/C–ON/OFFTheairconditioningisconnectedtothe
coolinganddehumidificationfunctionwith
theONLEDlights.Theairconditioningis
disconnectedwiththeOFFLEDlights.2.RecirculationRecirculationcanbeusedtoshutoutbadair,
exhaust,etc.fromthepassenger
compartment.Theairinthepassengercompartmentisthenrecirculated,i.e.noair
fromoutsidethecaristakenintothecar
whenthisfunctionisactivated.Recirculation
(togetherwiththeairconditioningsystem)
coolsthepassengercompartmentmore
quicklyinawarmclimate.
Ifyouallowtheairinthecartorecirculate,
thereisariskoficingandmisting,especially
inwinter.Thetimerfunctionminimisesthe
riskofice,mistingandbadair.
Activatethefunctionasfollows:
–Pressformorethan3seconds.
TheLEDflashesfor5seconds.Theair
recirculatesinthecarfor3–12minutes
dependingontheoutsidetemperature.
