Checkthatthebatterycablesarecorrectly
connectedandtightened.
Neverdisconnectthebatterywhenthe
engineisrunning(e.g.ifreplacingthe
battery).
Neveruseaquickchargertochargethe
battery.Thebatterycablesmustbediscon-
nectedwhenchargingthebattery.
Thebatterycontainsacidthatisboth
corrosiveandtoxic.Handlethebatteryinan
environmentally-suitableway.LetyourVolvo
dealerassistyou.
CheckregularlyCheckthefollowingatregularintervals,for
example,whenrefuelling:
Coolant-Thelevelmustbebetweenthe
MINandMAXmarksontheexpansion
tank.
Engineoil-Thelevelmustbebetween
theMINandMAXmarks.
Powersteeringfluid-Thelevelmustbe
betweentheMINandMAXmarks.
Washerfluid-Thereservoirshouldbe
wellfilled.Usewasherantifreezeat
temperaturesaroundfreezing.
Brakeandclutchfluid-Thelevelmustbe
betweentheMINandMAXmarks.
LiftingthecarIfthecarisliftedwithaworkshopjack;
positionthejackwiththefrontedgeonthe
subframe.
Donotdamagethesplashguardunderthe
engine.Ensurethatthejackispositionedso
thatthecarcannotslideoff.Alwaysuseaxle
standsorthelike.
Ifyouliftthecarusingatwopillarworkshop
lift,ensurethatthefrontandrearliftarmsare
fixedundertheliftingpointsonthedoorsill.

WARNING!
Highvoltageoutputfromtheignition
system.Thevoltageintheignitionsystem
isdangerous.Theignitionmusttherefore
alwaysbeswitchedoffforworkinthe
enginecompartment.
Donottouchthesparkplugsorignition
coilswhentheignitionisonortheengine
ishot.

Bearinmindthattheradiatorfanmaystart
automaticallysometimeaftertheengine
hasbeenswitchedoff.
Alwayshavetheenginecleanedbya

willhearwhenthelockreleases.
–Insertyourhandtotherightunderthe
frontedgeofthebonnet(belowthe
grille).
–Pressupthesafetycatchhandle.
–Releasethehandleandopenthebonnet.
EnginecompartmentTheappearanceoftheenginecompartment
mayvaryslightlyduetoenginevariant.
However,thecomponentslistedareinthe
samepositions.
