Air filters
The engine air filter uses a disposable oil-coated paper element. This element
cannot be cleaned with compressed air, doing so will only damage it.
If you often ride in the rain or in dusty areas, have the engine air filter and V-
belt air filter elements serviced more frequently.
Hydraulic brake service
Regularly check the brake fluid levels in the reservoirs, and refill as necessary.
Replace the internal components of the brake master cylinders and calipers,
and change the brake fluid every 2 years.
Replace the brake hoses every 4 years, or sooner if cracked or damaged.
25*Cooling system Check coolant level and vehicle
for coolant leakage. 
Change. Every 3 years
26 *V- b e l t Replace. When the V-belt replacement
indicator flashes [every 20000 km (12000 mi)]
27 *Front and rear
brake switches Check operation.

28 *Moving parts and
cables Lubricate.

29 *Throttle grip
housing and cable Check operation and free play.
Adjust the throttle cable free
play if necessary.
Lubricate the throttle grip housing, cable and grip warmer
wire. 

Engine air filter element
The engine air filter element should be
replaced at the intervals specified in the
periodic maintenance chart. Replace
the air filter element more frequently if
you often ride in wet or dusty condi-
tions.
To replace the air filter element
1. Remove panel C. (See page 8-7.)
2. Remove the air filter case cover by removing the screws.
3. Pull the air filter element out.
4. Insert a new air filter element into the air filter case. NOTICE: Make
sure that the air filter element is
properly seated in the air filter
case. The engine should never
be operated without the air filter
