TIP This mark identifies the recom-
mended fuel for this vehicle as
specified by European regulation
(EN228).
 Check that gasoline nozzle has
the same identifier when fueling.Your Yamaha engine has been de-
signed to use regular unleaded gaso-
line with a research octane number of
95 or higher. If knocking (or pinging)
occurs, use a gasoline of a different
brand or premium unleaded fuel. Use
of unleaded fuel will extend spark plug
life and reduce maintenance costs. Gasohol
There are two types of gasohol: gaso-
hol containing ethanol and that con-
taining methanol. Gasohol containing
ethanol can be used if the ethanol con-
tent does not exceed 10% (E10). Gas-
ohol containing methanol is not
recommended by Yamaha because it
can cause damage to the fuel system
or vehicle performance problems.

8 3. Remove the air filter case cover by
removing the screws.
4. Pull the air filter element and sub air filter element out. 5. Insert a new sub air filter element
into the air filter case cover.
6. Insert a new air filter element into the air filter case. NOTICE: Make
sure that the air filter element is
properly seate d in the air filter case. The en
gine shoul d never
b e operated without the air filter
element installe d, otherwise the
piston(s) an d/or cylin der(s) may
b ecome excessively worn.

7. Pull the pre air filter element out,
and then blow out the dirt with
compressed air as shown.
