E00634601078
The ACC maintains a set speed with no needfor you to use the accelerator pedal. Using asensor (A), the system also measures the rela-tive speed and distance between your vehicleand a vehicle in front, and maintains a set fol-lowing distance between your vehicle and thevehicle in front by automatically deceleratingyour vehicle if it becomes too close to thevehicle in front. The ACC is the driver assist system to makecomfortable on a freeway. Stop lamps areilluminated during automatic braking. If you desire, a cruise control without inter-vention of the following distance control isalso selectable.
NOTE
zA driver can change th
e set speed during this
emergency use.

NOTE
zYou cannot operate the regenerative brakecontrols while the adaptive cruise controlsystem (ACC) is operating. If doing so, thebuzzer sounds.zIf you turn on the adaptive cruise control(ACC) when the select position is in “B”(including B0 to B5) position, the selectposition is changed to “D” position.WA R N I N GzA driver is responsible for driving safely.Even if the ACC is in use, always graspthe surrounding circumstances and pro-vide for safe driving.zNever rely solely on the ACC. The ACC isthe system to reduce load on the driver. The ACC is not a co
llision avoidance sys-
tem or an automatic
driving system. The
system is not intended to compensate fordriver’s loss of attention to the front dur-ing driving due to distraction or careless-ness or supplement a drop in visibility dueto the rain and fog.It is never a substitute for your safe andcareful driving. Always
be ready to apply
the brakes manually.
zThis system may not correctly detect theactual situation depending on the type ofvehicle in front and
its conditions, the
weather conditions,
and the road condi-
tions.Additionally, the system may be unable todecelerate sufficiently if the vehicle infront applies the
brakes suddenly or
another vehicle cuts into your path, soyour vehicle approaches the front vehicle.Improper usage of this system or loss ofattention to the front by the over-rely onthe ACC, may result in a serious accident.CAUTIONzIn the following situations, the system maybecome transiently unable to detect a vehiclein front or triggers its control and alarmfunctions by detecting something other thana vehicle in front.•When driving in curved sections of roadincluding their entrance/outlet or runningbeside a closed lane in a traffic work orsimilar zone.WA R N I N G
•When your vehicle position in a lane isinstable, is frequently steered to right andleft, or running unstably due to a trafficaccident, trouble with some vehicles, etc.•When driving on the road that the vehicle infront runs in offset

zNever use the ACC in any of the followingsituations. Failure to follow this instructioncould lead to an accident. •On roads with heavy traffic or roads includ-ing many windings or steep curves•On roads with slippery surfaces, such asfrozen, snow-covered,
and dirt roads
•Under adverse weathe

Yo u r v e h i c l e r u n s a t a s p e e d t o w h i c h y o u s e t .It is possible to set the speed between approx-imately 40 and 180 km/h.The ACC makes control to maintain a follow-ing distance (time gap) matched with thevehicle speed between your vehicle and avehicle in front while also activating brakesas necessary.
If the vehicle in front stops, the ACC reacts toit by stopping your vehicle.Depress the brake pedal as soon as your vehi-cle comes to a stop.
•When your vehicle is on a chassisdynamometer or free rollers.•When the air pressure in the tyres is notcorrect.•When installing the spare tyre for emer-gency.•When tyre chains are attached.zBe sure to take the following precautions tokeep the system in proper operating condi-tions.Improper handling of the system componentsmay result in degraded sensor performance.•Avoid application of
strong shock loads to
the sensor and never tamper with or removethe sensor mounting screws.• The cover in front of the sensor and the sen-sor should be kept clean.•Do not cover the sensor mounted area ofthe vehicle or the sensor cover with asticker or anything such as a grill guardetc..•The sensor front cove

fied or painted.•Avoid using different
size tyres from those
specified and maintain even tyre wear.•Do not modify the suspension of your vehi-cle.
zWhen the cover in front of the sensor or thesensor is deformed for an accident, please donot use the ACC and
contact a MITSUBISHI
MOTORS Authorised Service Point.CAUTION
When ACC detects no vehicle in front within the set distance

NOTE
zIf the vehicle speed exceed the set speed ondown slope, the system automatically appliesthe brake to maintain the vehicle speed.zWhen depressing the brake pedal while auto-matic brake is applied, the brake pedal is feltsolidly, but it is not abnormal. You can moredepress the pedal and it provides greaterbraking force.zSound is heard while automatic brake, but itis operated a brake control and not abnormal.
When ACC detects a vehicle in front within the set distance

NOTE
zIf you do not depress the brake pedal within2 seconds after an automatic stop, you arealerted to automatic cancellation of the ACCby a buzzer and display message and theACC shift into the ‘standby state’.The vehicle will then start creeping as thebrakes are released.
