The outside mirror can be folded in towardsthe side window to prevent damage whenparking in narrow areas.Push the mirror towards the back of the vehi-cle with your hand to retract it in. Whenextending the mirror, pull it out towards thefront of the vehicle until it clicks to lock inplace.
With the operation mode in ON or ACC, pushthe mirror retractor switch to retract the mir-rors. Push it again to extend the mirrors totheir original positions.After placing the operation mode in OFF, it ispossible to retract and extend the mirrorsusing the mirror retractor switch for about 30seconds.

CAUTION zIt is possible to retract and extend the mirrorsby hand. After retracting a mirror using themirror retractor switch, however, you shouldextend it by using the switch again, not byhand. If you extended the mirror by handafter retracting it using the switch, it wouldnot properly lock in position. As a result, itcould move because of the wind or vibrationwhile you are driving, taking away your rear-ward visibility.NOTE
zBe careful not to get your hands trappedwhile a mirror is moving. zIf you move a mirror by hand or it movesafter hitting a person or object, you may notbe able to return it to its original positionusing the mirror retractor switch. If this hap-pens, push the mirror retractor switch toplace the mirror in its retracted position andthen push the switch again to return the mir-ror to its original position. zWhen freezing has occu
rred and mirrors fail
to operate as intended, please refrain fromrepeated pushing of the retractor switch asthis action can result in burn-out of the mir-ror motor circuits.

In order to prevent theft, the Plug-in HybridEV System will not start unless a preregis-tered keyless operation key is used. (Immobi-lizer function)If you are carrying the keyless operation key,you can start the Plug-in Hybrid EV System.
The indicator lamp on the power switch turnsoff.The operation mode cannot be put in OFFunless the electrical parking switch ispressed.Electrical devices such as the audio andaccessory socket can be operated. Can beused when the Ready indicator is off.The indicator lamp on the power switch illu-minates orange.All vehicle’s electrical devices can be oper-ated.The indicator lamp on the power switch illu-minates blue. After about 30 minutes has elapsed with theoperation mode in ACC, the function auto-
matically cuts out the power for the audiosystem and other electric devices that can beoperated with that position.When the power switch operate again, thepower is supplied again.

Changing the operation mode
CAUTION zWhen the Plug-in Hybrid EV System is notoperating, put the operation mode in OFF.Leaving the operation mode in ON or ACCfor a long time when the Plug-in Hybrid EVSystem is not operating may cause the auxil-iary battery to be discharged, making itimpossible to start the Plug-in Hybrid EVSystem. zWhen the auxiliary battery is disconnected,the current operation mode is memorized.After reconnecting the auxiliary battery, thememorized mode is selected automatically.Before disconnecting the auxiliary batteryfor repair or replacement, make sure to putthe operation mode in OFF. Be careful if you are not sure which opera-tion mode the vehicle is in when the auxil-iary battery is run down. zThe operation mode ca
nnot be changed from
OFF to ACC or ON if the keyless operationkey is not detected to be in the vehicle. Referto “Keyless operation system: operatingrange for starting the Plug-in Hybrid EVSystem and changing

When the operation mode is in any modeother than OFF, if you close all the doors andthe tailgate then try to lock the doors and tail-gate by pressing the driver’s or front passen-ger’s dppr lock/unlock switch, or the tailgateLOCK switch, a warning display will appear,and the outer buzzer will sounds and you can-not lock the doors and tailgate.

Operate the selector lever slowly and securelyin the following method.˙ (home position) to “D” or “R”: Simply shiftthe lever.˙ (home position) to “N”: Shift and hold at“N” position for a while.˙ (home position) to “B”: You can shift theselector lever to “B” only when the selectposition is in “D” position.When shifted from

zIf you press the electrical parking switchbefore your vehicle stops completely, thevehicle makes a sudden stop, which maycause injury to passengers. This also can be acause of failure of the vehicle. zDo not place a object around the electricalparking switch. The electrical parking switchmay be pressed by the object when you placeit there or when you somehow touch it. Thiswill cause unintentional shifting to “P” or“N” position, which may lead to an accident. zBe careful not to spill beverages, etc. aroundthe electrical parking switch. The electricalparking switch may be stuck to the pressedposition when it is pressed.NOTE
zWhen the selector lever is shifted from the“P” position or to the “P” position, operatingnoise and vibration of the parking lock arefelt, but this is normal.

Regenerative braking level selector (paddle)can quickly change the regenerative brake force keeping your hand on the steeringwheel when you release your foot from theaccelerator pedal while driving.By pulling the regenerative braking levelselector, the brake force (amount of electricalenergy to charge the drive battery) can beadjusted according to the driving conditionsuch as before curve or a downhill.Regenerative braking level can be switched inthe 6 level from B0 (small regenerative brak-ing force) to B5 (large regenerative brakingforce).
Each time you pull the + (UP) paddle towardyou, the regenerative brake force lowers byone level.
