The set speed is indicated on the informationscreen of the multi-information display. The ACC can be selected between approxi-mately 40 km/h to 180 km/h.Yo u c a n s e t a n d i n i t i a t e t h e s p e e d c o n t r o lwhen driving at approximately 10-40 km/hwhile a vehicle in front is being detected. Inthis case, the target speed is set to 40 km/h.Setting to any speed outside this range doesnot cause the ACC to start the control. When the ACC is initialized, a buzzer soundis heard and the “SET” indicator lights up onthe screen. At the same time, the displayshowing the following distance setting andthe running-ahead vehicle symbol (only whenthe ACC is detecting a vehicle in front) isswitched to the in-control mode display.
NOTE
zEven if the ACC is in the activated statewhen the operation mode is set to “OFF”, thesystem does not automatically become acti-vated when the operation mode is set to“ON” next time.

NOTE
zThe ACC cannot start the control when anyof the following conditions is present. Youare alerted to this state by a sounding buzzer.•When the vehicle speed is lower thanapproximately 10 km/h or 180 km/h orhigher.•When the vehicle is running at a speedbetween approximately 10 and 40 km/h andthe ACC is not detecting any vehicle infront.•When the ASC is in the OFF state.•When ABS, ASC or TCL is working.•When the selector lever is in a positionother than “D” (DRIVE).• While the brake pedal is being depressed.•When the parking brake is engaged.•When the system determines that its perfor-mance has been degraded due to contami-nants adhered to the sensor.•When there is any abnormality in the sys-tem.

There are two ways to increase the set speed. The set speed increases by 1 km/h every timeyou push up the “RES +” switch while theACC control is working. If you hold theswitch pushed up, the set speed increases in 5km/h increments.
When the accelerator pedal is depressedwhile driving with the ACC control working, you can accelerate the vehicle temporarilybeyond the presently set speed. At the point where the vehicle speed is raisedto your desired speed, push down and releasethe “SET -” switch; the new speed is then setin the system.

By using the “RES +” switch:
NOTE
zThere is some time lag between the setting toa new speed and actually accelerating to thatspeed. zSpeed setting operation is possible even inpresence of a vehicle in front. In this case, however, the set speed alone increases with-out actual acceleration taking place.
zWhen the switch is held pushed, a buzzersounds every time the set speed changes.CAUTION zThe setting speed should be set up the suita-ble speed according to a situation.
By using the accelerator pedal:
NOTE
CAUTION zThe ACC braking control and proximityalarm functions will not work while theaccelerator pedal is depressed.NOTE
zThe set speed indication on the display turnsto “---” when the accelerator pedal isdepressed. This indication remains as long asthe pedal is in a depressed position. zThe ACC control at the original set speedresumes as soon as you release the accelera-tor pedal. Under certain conditions, however, the braking control and alarming functions ofthe ACC may not work for a short while afterreleasing the accelerator pedal. zSet speed adjustment is impossible while theaccelerator pedal is in a depressed position.

If you depress the brake pedal while the ACCcontrol is working, the control is cancelled, allowing you to decelerate the vehicle. At the point where the vehicle slows down toyour desired speed, push down the “SET -”switch; the new speed is then set in the sys-tem.
Simply depress the accelerator pedal to tem-porarily accelerate the vehicle. Releasing thepedal automatically slows down the vehicleto the set speed and the ACC restarts its con-trol.
NOTE
zThere is some time lag between the setting toa new speed and actually decelerating to thatspeed. zIf there is a vehicle in front and your vehicleis following that vehicle at a speed lowerthan the set speed, the set speed alonedecreases with no actual deceleration takingplace. zWhen the switch is held pushed, a buzzersounds every time the set speed changes.CAUTION zThe setting speed should be set up the suita-ble speed according to a situation.
By using the brake pedal:
NOTE
zThe ACC control is ca
ncelled if you depress
the brake pedal and the ACC control doesnot resume even when you release the pedal.
