If an unlawful opening of any of the doors,tailgate or bonnet is detected during the sys-tem armed mode, the alarm will be activatedto warn people around the vehicle of anabnormal condition.Inside alarm (approx. 10 seconds):
The buzzer sounds, warning those insidethe vehicle of an abnormal condition.(except for vehicles equipped with theinterior alarm sensor)
Outside alarm (approx. 30 seconds):
The turn-signal lamps blink and the horn(the siren for vehicles equipped with theinterior alarm sensor) sounds, warningpeople around the vehicle of an abnormalcondition.

It is possible to cancel the system activationduring the system preparation mode or thesystem armed mode.In addition, it is possible to cancel the alarmonce it has been activated.Refer to “Cancelling the system” on page4-28, “Cancelling the alarm” on page 4-29.

3. Press the LOCK switch (A) on the remotecontrol switch of the keyless operationkey, the driver’s or front passenger’s doorlock/unlock switch (B), or the tailgateLOCK switch (C) in order to lock all thedoors and the tailgate.
Alarm activation

zThe alarm will resume if unlawful actionsare taken again, even if the alarm hasstopped.
System cancellation

NOTE
zWhen lending the vehicle to another personor allowing the vehicle to be driven by some-one who is unfamiliar with the security alarmsystem, be sure to give the person a properexplanation of the se
curity alarm system.
If a person who is unfamiliar with the secu-rity alarm system accidentally unlocked thevehicle, causing the alarm to sound, thealarm would be a nuisance to people nearby.

By locking the vehicle using the keylessentry system or the keyless operationfunction, the system preparation mode isactivated.The buzzer makes an intermittent beepingsound and the security indicator (D) in thecentre panel flashes for confirmation.
4. After approximately 20 seconds, thebuzzer stops, and when the blinking of thesecurity indicator starts to slow down, thesystem armed mode goes into effect.The security indicator continues to blinkduring the system armed mode.

The vehicle inclination detection function andthe interior intrusion detection function canbe deactivated when parking in automated carparks or leaving pets in the vehicle or leavingthe vehicle with the windows slightly open.1. Put the operation mode in OFF.2. Raise and hold the wiper and washerswitch to the “MIST” position for about 3seconds. The buzzer will sound once andthe function will be deactivated.

The following methods can be used to cancelthe system when it is in the system prepara-tion mode or the system armed mode.zPressing the UNLOCK switch on theremote control switch.zPutting the operation mode in ON.zOpening any one of the doors or the tail-gate, when the system is in the systempreparation mode.
zHolding the keyless operation key andpressing the driver’s or front passenger’sdoor lock/unlock switch, or the tailgateopen switch to unlock the doors and thetailgate.

When the system is in the system armedmode, the alarm will be activated as followsif the vehicle is unlocked or if any of thedoors, tailgate or bonnet is opened using amethod other than the keyless entry system orthe keyless operation function.

Cancelling the system

NOTE
zIf the bonnet is opened during the systempreparation mode, the system preparationmode is suspended.The system returns to the system preparationmode when the bonnet is closed.zIf the battery terminals are disconnectedwhile the system is in

mode, the memory will be erased.zIt is possible to regist
er up to 4 remote con-
trol switches.As long as they are registered, any of theremote control switches, other than the oneused to activate the system, can be used tocancel the system.If you want to register additional remotecontrol switches, please contact aMITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorised ServicePoint.zThe activation distance for keyless entry sys-tem is approximately 4 m.If it is not possible to lock or unlock thevehicle by pressing the switch at the correctdistance or the security alarm system cannotbe set or cancelled using the switch, the bat-tery may need to be replaced.Replace the battery at a MITSUBISHIMOTORS Authorised Service Point.
zIf the UNLOCK switch on the remote con-trol switch, or the driver’s or front passen-ger’s door lock/unlock switch is pressed andno door or the tailgate is opened within 30seconds, the doors and the tailgate will auto-matically relock. In this
case as well, the sys-
tem preparation mode will go into effect.zThe time between pressing of the UNLOCKswitch on the remote control switch, or thedriver’s or front passenger’s doorlock/unlock switch and automatic lockingcan be adjusted. Please consult aMITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorised ServicePoint.On vehicles equipped with Mitsubishi Multi-Communication System (MMCS), screenoperations can be used to make the adjust-ment. Refer to the separate owner’s manualfor details.

The driver’s switches can be used to operateall door windows. A window can be openedor closed by operating the correspondingswitch.Press the switch down to open the window,and pull up the switch to close it.If the switch for the driver’s window is fullypressed down/pulled up, the door windowautomatically opens/closes completely.If you want to stop the window movement,operate the switch lightly in the reverse direc-tion.
The passenger’s switches can be used to oper-ate the corresponding passenger’s door win-dows.Press the switch down for opening the win-dow, and pull up the switch for closing.

zThe safety mechanism is deactivated whilethe switch is pulled up. Therefore be espe-cially careful that fingers are not trapped inthe door window opening.NOTE
zThe safety mechanism can be activated if thedriving conditions or
other circumstances
cause the driver’s door window to be sub-jected to a physical shock similar to thatcaused by a trapped hand or head.zIf the battery terminals are disconnected orthe fuse for electric window is replaced, thesafety mechanism will be cancelled and thedoor window will not automaticallyopen/close completely.If the window is open, repeatedly raise thedriver’s door window switch until the win-dow has been fully closed. Following this,release the switch, raise the switch onceagain and hold it in this condition for at least1 second, then releas
e it. You should now be
able to operate the driver’s door window inthe normal fashion.
