Parking Over Things That Burn
{WARNING:
Things that can burn could touch hot exhaust
parts under the vehicle and ignite. Do not park
over papers, leaves, dry grass, or other things that
can burn.
Engine Exhaust
{WARNING:
Engine exhaust contains Carbon Monoxide (CO)
which cannot be seen or smelled. Exposure to CO
can cause unconsciousness and even death.
Exhaust may enter the vehicle if:
.The vehicle idles in areas with poor ventilation
(parking garages, tunnels, deep snow that
may block underbody airflow or tail pipes).
.The exhaust smells or sounds strange
or different.

.The exhaust system leaks due to corrosion
or damage.
.The vehicle’s exhaust system has been
modified, damaged or improperly repaired.
.There are holes or openings in the vehicle
body from damage or after-market
modifications that are not completely sealed.
If unusual fumes are detected or if it is suspected
that exhaust is coming into the vehicle:
.Drive it only with the windows
completely down.
.Have the vehicle repaired immediately.
Never park the vehicle with the engine running in
an enclosed area such as a garage or a building
that has no fresh air ventilation.

Resetting the Power Foldaway Mirrors
Reset the power foldaway mirrors if:
.The mirrors are accidentally obstructedwhile folding.
.They are accidentally manually folded/unfolded.
.The mirrors will not stay in the unfolded position.
.The mirrors vibrate at normal driving speeds.
Fold and unfold the mirrors one time using the mirrorcontrols to reset them to their normal position.A popping noise may be heard during the resetting ofthe power foldaway mirrors. This sound is normal aftera manual folding operation.
Automatic Dimming
Adjust the driver outside mirror for the glare of theheadlamps behind your vehicle. SeeAutomaticDimming Rearview Mirroron page 3!43for moreinformation.
Turn Signal Indicator
The vehicle has a turn signal indicator on the mirror.An arrow on the mirror flashes in the direction of theturn or lane change.
Ground Illumination Lamps
The mirrors may also include ground illumination lampsin the base of the mirror. These lamps help to see thearea near the base of the front doors when it isdark out.
Park Tilt Mirrors
If the vehicle has the memory package, thepassenger and/or driver mirror tilts to a preselectedposition when the vehicle is in R (Reverse). This featurelets the driver view the curb when parallel parking. Themirror(s) return to the original position when the vehicleis shifted out of R (Reverse), or the ignition is turned offor to OFF/LOCK.
Turn this feature on or off through the Driver InformationCenter (DIC). SeeDIC Vehicle Customizationonpage 4!57for more information.

The system can bedisabled by pressing therear park aid disablebutton located next tothe radio.
The indicator light will come on and PARK ASSIST OFFdisplays on the Driver Information Center (DIC) toindicate that URPA is off, seeDIC Warnings andMessages on page 4!48.
When the System Does Not Seem to
Work Properly
If the URPA system will not activate due to a temporarycondition, the messages PARK ASSIST OFF or PARKASSIST BLOCKED SEE OWNERS MANUAL will bedisplayed on the DIC.
SERVICE PARK ASSIST :If this message occurs, takethe vehicle to your dealer/retailer to repair the system.
PARK ASSIST OFF :This message occurs if the driverdisables the system.
PARKING ASSIST BLOCKED SEE OWNERSMANUAL :This message can occur under thefollowing conditions:
.The ultrasonic sensors are not clean. Keep thevehicle's rear bumper free of mud, dirt, snow, iceand slush. For cleaning instructions, seeWashingYour Vehicle on page 7!102.
.The park assist sensors are covered by frost orice. Frost or ice can form around and behind thesensors and may not always be seen; this canoccur after washing the vehicle in cold weather.The message may not clear until the frost or icehas melted.
.A trailer was attached to the vehicle, or a bicycle oran object was hanging out of the liftgate during thelast drive cycle. Once the attached object isremoved, URPA will return to normal operation.
.A tow bar is attached to the vehicle.
.The vehicle's bumper is damaged. Take the vehicleto your dealer/retailer to repair the system.
.Other conditions may affect system performance,such as vibrations from a jackhammer or thecompression of air brakes on a very large truck.
If the system is still disabled, after driving forward atleast 40 km/h (25 mph), take the vehicle to yourdealer/retailer.

SBZA is designed to ignore stationary objects; however,the system may occasionally light up due to guard rails,signs, trees, shrubs, and other stationary objects.This is normal system operation, the vehicle does notneed service.
SBZA does not operate when the left or right cornersof the rear bumper are covered with mud, dirt, snow,ice, slush, or in heavy rainstorms. For cleaninginstructions, seeWashing Your Vehicleon page 7!102.If the DIC still displays the SIDE BLIND ZONE SYSTEMUNAVAILABLE message after cleaning the bumper, seeyour dealer/retailer.
The SBZA displays may remain on if a trailer isattached to the vehicle, or a bicycle or object isextending out to either side of the vehicle.
When SBZA is disabled for any reason other than thedriver turning it off, the driver will not be able to turnSBZA back on using the DIC. The SIDE BLIND ZONEALERT ON option will not be selectable if the conditionsfor normal system operation are not met. Until normaloperating conditions for SBZA are met, you should notrely upon SBZA while driving.
SBZA Error Messages
The following messages may appear in the DIC:
SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT SYSTEM OFF :Thismessage indicates that the driver has turned thesystem off.
SIDE BLIND ZONE SYSTEM UNAVAILABLE :Thismessage indicates that the SBZA system is disabledeither because the sensor is blocked and cannot detectvehicles in your blind zone, or the vehicle is passingthrough an open field of view area, such as the desert,where there is insufficient data for operation. Thesensor may be blocked by mud, dirt, snow, ice, slush,or even heavy rainstorms. This message may alsoactivate during heavy rain or due to road spray. Thevehicle does not need service. For cleaning, seeWashing Your Vehicle on page 7!102.
SERVICE SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT SYSTEM :If thismessage appears, both SBZA displays will remain onindicating there is a problem with the SBZA system.If these displays remain on after continued driving,the system needs service. Take the vehicle toyour dealer/retailer.

Using Universal Home Remote
Press and hold the appropriate button for at least halfof a second. The indicator light will come on while thesignal is being transmitted.
Reprogramming Universal Home
Remote Buttons
Any of the three buttons can be reprogrammed byrepeating the instructions.
Erasing Universal Home Remote
Buttons
The programmed buttons should be erased when thevehicle is sold or the lease ends.
To erase either Rolling Code or Fixed Code on theUniversal Home Remote device:
1. Press and hold the two outside buttons at thesame time for approximately 20 seconds, until theindicator lights, located directly above the buttons,begin to blink rapidly.
2. Once the indicator lights begin to blink, releaseboth buttons. The codes from all buttons willbe erased.

Storage Areas
Glove Box
Pull the bottom of the glove box handle upward toopen it. Use the key to lock and unlock the glove box.
Cupholders
Cupholders are located in the center console for thefront passengers. Press down on the access doorrelease to open and use the front cupholders. Push thedoor back down to close it. Push down and then backon the front cupholder to remove it for cleaning.
Heated and Cooled Cupholders
For vehicles with heated and cooled cupholders, theseare located in the front center console.
Press down on the access door release button to openthe cupholder door.

Center Console Storage
A console compartment is located between thebucket seats.
The console has both an upper and lower storage binaccessed by lifting up on the latches located at the frontof the console lid.
The console may have an accessory power outletinside. SeeAccessory Power Outlet(s) on page 4!19.
The rear of the console also has a cupholder thatswings down for the rear seat passengers to use.
Assist Handles
Assist handles located above the rear passenger doorscan be used when getting out of the vehicle. Pull thehandles downward to use them.
Garment Hooks
There are garment hooks located on the assist handles.
Roof Rack System
{WARNING:
If something is carried on top of the vehicle that is
longer or wider than the roof rack—like paneling,
plywood, or a mattress—the wind can catch it
while the vehicle is being driven. The item being
carried could be violently torn off, and this could
cause a collision, and damage the vehicle. Never
carry something longer or wider than the roof rack
on top of the vehicle unless using a GM Certified
accessory carrier.
For vehicles with a roof rack, the rack can be used toload items. For roof racks that do not have crossrailsincluded, GM Certified crossrails can be purchased asan accessory. See your dealer/retailer for additionalinformation.
For vehicles with crossrails, they can be movedback and forth to help secure cargo. To adjust them,turn the knob located at each end of the crossrailcounterclockwise until the crossrail can move freely.To secure the crossrail, turn the knob located at eachend of the crossrail clockwise until tightened. Tie theload to the siderails or siderail supports.

Notice:Loading cargo on the roof rack that weighsmore than 91 kg (200 lbs) or hangs over the rear orsides of the vehicle may damage the vehicle. Loadcargo so that it rests evenly between the crossrails,making sure to fasten cargo securely.
To prevent damage or loss of cargo when driving,check to make sure crossrails and cargo are securelyfastened. Loading cargo on the roof rack will make thevehicle’s center of gravity higher. Avoid high speeds,sudden starts, sharp turns, sudden braking or abruptmaneuvers, otherwise it may result in loss of control.If driving for a long distance, on rough roads, or at highspeeds, occasionally stop the vehicle to make sure thecargo remains in its place.
Do not exceed the maximum vehicle capacity whenloading the vehicle. For more information on vehiclecapacity and loading, seeLoading the Vehicleonpage 6!32.
To prevent damage or loss of cargo, check now andthen to make sure the luggage and cargo are stillsecurely fastened.
Be sure the cargo is properly loaded.
.If small heavy objects are placed on the roof, placethe load in the area over the rear wheels (behindthe rear side door on extended models). If needed,cut a piece of 3/8 inch plywood to fit inside thecrossrails and siderails to spread the load.If plywood is used, tie it to the siderail supports.
.Tie the load to the crossrails or the siderailsupports. Use the crossrails only to keep theload from sliding. To move the crossrails, pull outon the latch release handle at each end. Slide thecrossrail to the desired position balancing the forceside to side. Push the release handle back into thelatched position and slide the crossrail back andforth slightly to be sure the latch snaps securelyinto place.
.If needed to carry long items, move the crossrailsas far apart as they will go. Tie the load to thecrossrails and the siderails or siderail supports.Also tie the load to the bumpers. Do not tie theload so tightly that the crossrails or siderailsare damaged.
.After moving a crossrail, be sure it is securelylocked into the siderail.
A Center High-Mounted Stoplamp (CHMSL) is locatedabove the glass or above the rear load doors.
If items are loaded on the roof of the vehicle, careshould be taken not to block or damage theCHMSL unit.

Clear ice and snow from the wiper blades before usingthem. If frozen to the windshield, carefully loosen orthaw them. Damaged wiper blades should be replaced.SeeWindshield Wiper Blade Replacementonpage 7!57.
Heavy snow or ice can overload the wiper motor.A circuit breaker will stop the motor until it cools down.
Windshield Washer
{WARNING:
In freezing weather, do not use your washer until
the windshield is warmed. Otherwise the washer
fluid can form ice on the windshield, blocking your
vision.
L(Washer Fluid):Push the paddle marked with thewindshield washer symbol at the top of the multifunctionlever, to spray washer fluid on the windshield. Thewipers clear the window and then either stop or returnto the preset speed.
Rear Window Wiper/Washer
{WARNING:
In freezing weather, do not use your washer until
the windshield is warmed. Otherwise the washer
fluid can form ice on the windshield, blocking your
vision.
The rear wiper control is located on the turn signal/multifunction lever.
To turn the rear wiper on, slide the lever to a wiperposition.
9(Off) :Turns the wiper off.
5(Rear Wiper Delay):Turns on the rear wiper delay.
Z(Rear Wiper):Turns on the rear wiper.
=(Rear Wiper Wash):To turn on the rear wiper wash,push the button on the end of the turn signal/multifunction lever to spray washer fluid on the rearwindow. The wipers will clear the rear window andeither stop or return to your preset speed. For morewasher cycles, press and hold the button.

.The headlamp stalk is moved forward to thehigh-beam position. SeeHeadlamp High/Low-Beam Changero n p a g e 4!5.
When either of these conditions occur, theIntelliBeam®feature will be disabled and theIntelliBeam®light in the mirror will turn off until thehigh-beam stalk is returned to the neutral position.
.If IntelliBeam®was using low-beams prior to thisaction, the IntelliBeam®feature will be temporarilydisabled until the stalk is returned to the neutralposition.
.The exterior lamp control is turned to any settingexcept AUTO.
When this occurs, IntelliBeam®will be disableduntil the control is turned back to the AUTOposition.
.The IntelliBeam®system is turned off at the insiderearview mirror.
IntelliBeam®may not turn off the high-beams if thesystem cannot detect other vehicle's lamps because ofany of the following:
.The others vehicle's lamp(s) are missing,damaged, obstructed from view or otherwiseundetected.
.The other vehicle's lamp(s) are covered with dirt,snow and/or road spray.
.The other vehicle's lamp(s) cannot be detecteddue to dense exhaust, smoke, fog, snow, roadspray, mist or other airborne obstructions.
.Your vehicle's windshield is dirty, cracked orobstructed by something that blocks the view ofthe IntelliBeam light sensor.
.Your vehicle's windshield is covered with ice, dirt,haze or other obstructions.
.Your vehicle is loaded such that the front end ofthe vehicle points upward, causing the IntelliBeamsensor to aim high and not detect headlamps andtaillamps.
.You are driving on winding or hilly roads.
You may need to manually disable or cancel thehigh-beam headlamps by turning the low-beamheadlamps on, if any of the above conditions exist.
