Wiper control stalk
Manual controls
The wipers are controlled directly by the driver.Windscreen wipers
Wiping speed control stalk: raise or lower the stalk   to   the   desired   position.

The driver must ensure that passengers use the   seat   belts   correctly   and   that   they   are   all  
f

astened   before   setting   off.
Wherever
  you   are   seated   in   the   vehicle,  
a

lways fasten your seat belt, even for short
journeys.
Do
  not   interchange   the   seat   belt   buckles   as  
t

hey   will   not   fulfil   their   role   fully.
The
  seat   belts   are   fitted   with   an   inertia   reel  
p

ermitting   automatic   adjustment   of   the  
l

ength   of   the   strap   to   your   size.   The   seat   belt  
i

s   stowed   automatically   when   not   in   use.
Before
  and   after   use,   ensure   that   the   seat  
b

elt   is   reeled   in   correctly.
The
  lower   part   of   the   strap   must   be  
p

ositioned   as   low   as   possible   on   the   pelvis.
The
  upper   part   must   be   positioned   in   the  
h

ollow   of   the   shoulder.
The
  inertia   reels   are   fitted   with   an   automatic  
l

ocking   device   which   comes   into   operation   in  
t

he   event   of   a   collision,   emergency   braking  
o

r   if   the   vehicle   rolls   over.   You   can   release  
t

he   device   by   pulling   the   strap   firmly   and  
t

hen   releasing   it   so   that   it   reels   in   slightly.Recommendations for children
Use a suitable child seat if the passenger is   less   than   12   years   old   or   shorter   than  
o

ne and   a   half   metres.
Never
  use   the   same   seat   belt   to   secure   more  
t

han   one   person.
Never
  allow   a   child   to   travel   on   your   lap.

ccompanied   by   a   slight   discharge   of

armless   smoke   and   a   noise,   due   to   the  
a

ctivation   of   the   pyrotechnic   cartridge

ncorporated   in   the   system.
In
  all   cases,   the   airbag   warning   lamp  
c

omes on.
Following
  an   impact,   have   the   seat   belts  
s

ystem   checked,   and   if   necessary   replaced,  
b

y   a   CITROËN   dealer   or   a   qualified  
w

orkshop.

Airbags
Designed to contribute towards the safety of the   occupants   in   the   event   of   violent   collisions.  
T

he   airbags   supplement   the   action   of   the   force-
limiting
  seat   belts.
If
  a   collision   occurs,   the   electronic   detectors  
r

ecord   and   analyse   the   front   and   side   impacts  
s

ustained   in   the   impact   detection   zones:
-
 
i
n   the   case   of   a   serious   impact,   the   airbags  
a

re   deployed   instantly   and   contribute  
t

owards   better   protection   of   the   occupants  
o

f   the   vehicle;   immediately   after   the   impact,  
t

he   airbags   deflate   rapidly   so   that   they  
d

o   not   hinder   visibility   or   the   exit   of   the  
o

ccupants,
-
 
i
n   the   case   of   a   minor   or   rear   impact   or   in  
c

ertain   roll-over   conditions,   the   airbags  
m

ay   not   be   deployed;   the   seat   belt   alone  
c

ontributes   towards   providing   your  
p

rotection   in   these   situations.
The airbags do not operate when the
ignition is switched off.
This
  equipment   will   only   deploy   once.  
I

f   a   second   impact   occurs   (during   the  
s

ame   or   a   subsequent   accident),   the  
a

irbag   will   not   be   deployed   again.The
  deployment   of   an   airbag   is  
a

ccompanied   by   a   slight   emission  
o

f   smoke   and   a   noise,   due   to   the  
d

etonation   of   the   pyrotechnic   charge  
i

ncorporated   in   the   system.
This
  smoke   is   not   harmful,   but   sensitive  
i

ndividuals   may   experience   slight  
ir

ritation.
The
  detonation   noise   associated   with  
t

he   deployment   of   an   airbag   may   result  
i

n   a   slight   loss   of   hearing   for   a   short  
t

ime.

Front airbags
Deployment
The airbags are deployed, except the passenger's front   airbag   if   it   has   been   deactivated,   in   the   event o

f   a   serious   front   impact   to   all   or   part   of   the   front
 i

mpact   zone   A,   in   the   longitudinal   centreline   of   the
 v

ehicle   on   a   horizontal   plane   and   directed   from   the
 f

ront   to   the   rear   of   the   vehicle.
The
  front   airbag   inflates   between   the   thorax   and
 h

ead   of   the   front   occupant   of   the   vehicle   and   the
 s

teering   wheel,   driver's   side,   and   the   dashboard,
 p

assenger's   side   to   cushion   their   for ward
 m

ovement.
System
  which   protects   the   driver   and   front  
p

assenger   in   the   event   of   a   serious   front   impact  
i

n   order   to   limit   the   risk   of   injury   to   the   head   and  
t

horax.
The   driver's   airbag   is   fitted   in   the   centre   of   the  
s

teering   wheel;   the   front   passenger's   airbag   is  
f

itted   in   the   dashboard   above   the   glove   box.

Lateral airbags
Deployment
The lateral airbags are deployed unilaterally in the event of   a   serious   side   impact   applied   to   all   or   part   of   the   side i

mpact   zone   B,
  perpendicular   to   the   longitudinal   centreline
 o

f   the   vehicle   on   a   horizontal   plane   and   directed   from   the
 o

utside   towards   the   inside   of   the   vehicle.
The
  lateral   airbag   contributes   towards   the   protection   of   the
 f

ront   occupant   of   the   vehicle,   between   the   lower   thorax
 a

nd   the   head.
System that contributes towards improving the protection   of   the   driver   and   front   passenger   in  
t

he   event   of   a   serious   side   impact,   in   order   to  
l

imit   the   risk   of   injury   to   the   chest,   between   the  
h

ip   and   the   shoulder.
Each
  lateral   airbag   is   fitted   in   the   seat   backrest  
f

rame,   door   side.Impact detection zones

  this   warning   lamp   comes   on   in   the  
i

nstrument   panel,   you   must   contact  
a

  CITROËN   dealer   or   a   qualified

e   deployed   in   the   event   of   a   serious  
im

pact.
Operating fault
In the event of a minor impact or bump o
n   the   side   of   the   vehicle   or   if   the  
v

ehicle   rolls   over,   the   airbag   may   not   be

eployed.
In the event of a rear or front collision,
the
  airbag   is   not   deployed.

trap   of   child   seats   that   have   one.   This   device

vent   of   a   front   impact.
This
  ISOFIX   mounting   system   ensures   fast,  
r

eliable   and   safe   fitting   of   the   child   seat   in   your  
v

ehicle.
The ISOFIX child seats
  are   fitted   with

wo latches   which   are   secured   easily   on   the

wo   rings   A.
Some
  also   have   an   upper strap   (or   top   tether)

hich   is   attached   to   ring   B. When
  installing   an   ISOFIX   child   seat   on   the  
r

ight   hand   rear   seat,   before   securing   the   seat,  
f

irst   move   the   centre   rear   seat   belt   towards   the  
m

iddle   of   the   vehicle,   so   as   to   not   inter fere   with  
t

he   operation   of   the   seat   belt.
The   incorrect   installation   of   a   child   seat  i
n   a   vehicle   compromises   the   child's  
p

rotection   in   the   event   of   an   accident.
