The
 gearbox  then  operates  in  auto-adaptive Â

ode,  without  any  intervention  on  the  part Â
o
f  the  driver.  It  continuously  selects  the  most Â
s
uitable  gear  according  to  the  style  of  driving, Â
t
he  profile  of  the  road  and  the  load  in  the Â
v
ehicle.
For
 maximum  acceleration  without  touching Â
t
he  selector,  press  the  accelerator  pedal  down Â
f
ully  (kick  down).  The  gearbox  changes  down Â
a
utomatically  or  maintains  the  gear  selected Â
u
ntil  the  maximum  engine  speed  is  reached.
On
 braking,  the  gearbox  changes  down Â
a
utomatically  to  provide  efficient  engine Â
b
raking.
If you release the accelerator sharply, the
gearbox
 will  not  change  to  a  higher  gear  for Â
s
afety  reasons.

When
 the  vehicle  is  stationary  or  moving Â

Sport programme "S"
F Press button "S" ,  after  starting  the  engine.
The  gearbox  automatically  favours  a  dynamic Â

tyle  of  driving.

 appears  in  the  instrument  panel.
Snow programme "T"
F Press button " T",  after  starting  the  engine.
The  gearbox  adapts  to  driving  on  slippery Â
r
oads.
This
 programme  improves  starting  and  drive Â

hen  traction  is  poor.

Return to standard
automatic operation
F At any  time,  press  the  button  selected  a

Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you can engage  position  P or N  to  place  the  gearbox  in Â
neu
tral.
In
 both  cases,  apply  the  parking  brake  to Â
i
mmobilise  the  vehicle.
Operating fault
and a message in the multifunction screen, indicates  a  gearbox  fault.
In
 this  case,  the  gearbox  switches  to  back-up Â
m
ode  and  is  locked  in  3rd  gear.  You  may  feel Â
a
 substantial  knock  when  changing  from  P
to R
 and  from  N to R.
 This  will  not  cause  any Â
d
amage  to  the  gearbox.
Do
 not  exceed  60  mph  (100  km/h),  local  speed Â
r
estrictions
 p
ermitting.
Contact
 a  CITROËN  dealer  or  a  qualified Â

orkshop  as  soon  as  possible. There

In the event of a fault with the system, the indicator  lamp  in  the  "ECO OFF" button
flashes
 for  a  few  moments,  then  comes  on Â
c
ontinuously.
Have
 it  checked  by  a  CITROËN  dealer  or  a Â

ualified

orkshop.
In
 the  event  of  a  fault  in  STOP  mode,  the Â
v
ehicle  may  stall.  All  of  the  warning  lamps Â
i
n  the  instrument  panel  come  on.  It  is  then Â
n
ecessary  to  switch  off  the  ignition  and  start Â
t
he  engine  again  using  the  key.
Operating fault
The Stop & Start system requiresÂ
a  12  V  battery  with  a  special Â

Deactivation / Manual
reactivation
In certain cases, such as the need to maintain a  comfortable  temperature  in  the  passenger Â
c
ompartment,  it  may  be  useful  to  deactivate  the Â
S
top  &  Start  system.
The
 system  can  be  deactivated  at  any  time, Â
o
nce  the  ignition  is  on.
If
 the  engine  is  in  STOP  mode,  it  then  restarts.
The
 Stop  &  Start  system  is  reactivated Â
a
utomatically  every  time  the  ignition  is Â
switched
 on.
Opening the bonnet
Before
 doing  anything  under  the Â
b
onnet,  deactivate  the  Stop  &  Start Â
s
ystem  to  avoid  the  risk  of  injury Â
r
elated  to  an  automatic  change  to Â
S
TARTÂ mode.
Driving on flooded roads
Before
 driving  through  a  flooded  road, Â
i
t  is  strongly  recommended  that  you Â
d
eactivate  the  Stop  &  Start  system.
For
 more  advice  on  driving,  particularly Â
o
n  flooded  roads,  refer  to  the Â
c
orresponding
 s
ection.

Speed limiter
System which prevents the vehicle from exceeding  the  speed  programmed  by  the  driver.
When
 the  programmed  speed  limit  is  reached, Â
p
ressing  the  accelerator  pedal  in  the  normal Â
m
anner  no  longer  has  any  effect.
The
 speed  limiter  is  switched on Â
m
anually:
 i
t  requires  a  programmed  speed  of  at  least Â
2
0 mph  (30  km/h).
The
 speed  limiter  is  switched off  by  manual Â
o
peration  of  the  control.
The
 programmed  speed  can  be  exceeded Â
t
emporarily  by  pressing  the  accelerator  firmly.
To
 return  to  the  programmed  speed,  simply Â
s
low  down  to  a  speed  below  the  programmed Â
s
peed. The
 speed  limiter  cannot,  in  any
 c
ircumstances,  replace  the  need  to
 r
espect  speed  limits,  nor  can  it  replace  the
 n
eed  for  vigilance  on  the  part  of  the  driver.The
 controls  of  this  system  are  grouped Â
t
ogether  on  stalk  A.

 the  speed  limiter Â

ode  is  selected  but  is  not  switched  on Â
(
PAUS E).
You
 do  not  have  to  switch  the  speed  limiter Â
o
n  in  order  to  set  the  speed.
Programming Leaving limiter mode
F Turn thumb  wheel  1 to the "0" position:  t
he  speed  limiter  mode  is  deselected.  The Â
d
isplay  returns  to  the  distance  recorder.
On
 a  steep  descent  or  in  the  event  of Â
s
harp  acceleration,  the  speed  limiter Â
w
ill not be able to prevent the vehicle
from
 exceeding  the  programmed  speed.
To
 avoid  any  risk  of  jamming  of  the Â
ped
als:
-
Â
e
nsure  that  the  mat  is  secured Â
c
o r r e c t l y,
-
Â
d
o  not  fit  one  mat  on  top  of  another.
In
 the  event  of  a  speed  limiter  fault,  the  speed Â
i
s  cleared  and  the  dashes  then  flash.

 it  checked  by  a  CITROËN  dealer  or  a Â
q
ualified
 w
orkshop.
Operating fault
F Set the  speed  value  by  pressing  button  2 or 3  (e.g.:  55  mph  (
90Â km/h)).
You
 can  then  change  the  programmed  speed  using  buttons  2  and  3:

y  +  or  -  1  mph  (km/h)  =  short  press,

y  +  or  -  5  mph  (km/h)  =  long  press,

Exceeding the programmed speed
Pressing the accelerator pedal to exceed the programmed speed will not  have  any  effect  unless  you  press  the  pedal  firmly past the point of
resistance .
