The systems allow the driver to select infor-
mation by pushing the following buttons
mounted on the steering wheel:
Instrument Cluster Display Control Buttons
Up Arrow Button Push and release the up arrow button to
scroll upward through the main menu
and submenus.
Down Arrow Button
Push and release the down arrow button
to scroll downward through the main
menu and submenus.
Right Arrow Button
Push and release the right arrow button to
access the information screens or sub -
menu screens of a main menu item.
Left Arrow Button
Push and release the left arrow button to
access the information screens or sub -
menu screens of a main menu item.
OK Button
Push the OK button to access/select the
information screens or submenu screens
of a main menu item. Push and hold the
OK button for one second to reset dis -
played/selected features that can be re -
set.
Oil Change Indicator System — If
Equipped
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil
change indicator system. The “Oil Change
Due” message will display in the instrument
cluster display for five seconds after a single
chime has sounded, to indicate the next
scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil
change indicator system is duty cycle based,
which means the engine oil change interval
may fluctuate, dependent upon your
personal driving style.
Gear Shift Indicator (GSI) — If Equipped
The Gear Shift Indicator (GSI) system is
enabled on vehicles with a manual transmis -sion, or when a vehicle with an automatic
transmission is in manual shift mode. The
GSI provides the driver with a visual indica
-
tion when the recommended gear shift point
has been reached. This indication notifies
the driver that changing gear will allow a
reduction in fuel consumption. When the up
shift indicator is shown on the instrument
cluster display, the GSI is advising the driver
to engage a higher gear. When the down shift
indicator is shown on the display, the GSI is
advising the driver to engage a lower gear.
The GSI remains illuminated until the driver
changes gear, or the driving conditions
return to a situation where changing gear is
not required to improve fuel consumption.
Instrument Cluster Display Menu Items
NOTE:
The instrument cluster display menu items
display in the center of the instrument
cluster. Menu items may vary depending on
your vehicle features.

the Owner’s Manual for further information.

NOTE:
The DST feature is only meant to help the
driver realize the correct course of action
through small torques on the steering wheel,
which means the effectiveness of the DST
feature is highly dependent on the driver’s
sensitivity and overall reaction to the applied
torque. It is very important to realize that this
feature will not steer the vehicle, meaning
the driver is still responsible for steering the
vehicle.
Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)
This function manages the distribution of the
braking torque between the front and rear
axles by limiting braking pressure to the rear
axle. This is done to prevent overslip of the
rear wheels to avoid vehicle instability, and
to prevent the rear axle from entering ABS
before the front axle.
Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM)
Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) anticipates
the potential for wheel lift by monitoring the
driver’s steering wheel input and the speed
of the vehicle. When ERM determines that
the rate of change of the steering wheel
angle and vehicle’s speed are sufficient to
potentially cause wheel lift, it then appliesthe appropriate brake and may also reduce
engine power to lessen the chance that
wheel lift will occur. ERM can only reduce
the chance of wheel lift occurring during
severe or evasive driving maneuvers; it
cannot prevent wheel lift due to other
factors, such as road conditions, leaving the
roadway, or striking objects or other vehicles.Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) enhances
directional control and stability of the
vehicle under various driving conditions.
ESC corrects for oversteering or under
-
steering of the vehicle by applying the brake
of the appropriate wheel(s) to assist in coun -teracting the oversteer or understeer condi
-
tion. Engine power may also be reduced to
help the vehicle maintain the desired path.
ESC uses sensors in the vehicle to determine
the vehicle path intended by the driver and
compares it to the actual path of the vehicle.
When the actual path does not match the
intended path, ESC applies the brake of the
appropriate wheel to assist in counteracting
the oversteer or understeer condition.
Oversteer — when the vehicle is turning
more than appropriate for the steering
wheel position.
Understeer — when the vehicle is turning
less than appropriate for the steering
wheel position.
The “ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator
Light” located in the instrument cluster will
start to flash as soon as the ESC system
becomes active. The “ESC Activation/
Malfunction Indicator Light” also flashes
when the TCS is active. If the “ESC Activa -
tion/Malfunction Indicator Light” begins to
flash during acceleration, ease up on the
accelerator and apply as little throttle as
possible. Be sure to adapt your speed and
driving to the prevailing road conditions.
WARNING!
Many factors, such as vehicle loading,
road conditions and driving conditions,
influence the chance that wheel lift or
rollover may occur. ERM cannot prevent all
wheel lift or roll overs, especially those
that involve leaving the roadway or striking
objects or other vehicles. The capabilities
of an ERM-equipped vehicle must never
be exploited in a reckless or dangerous
manner which could jeopardize the user's
safety or the safety of others.

(Continued)ESC Operating Modes
NOTE:
Depending upon model and mode of opera-
tion, the ESC system may have multiple
operating modes. ESC OFF Button
ESC On
This is the normal operating mode for the
ESC. Whenever the vehicle is started, the
ESC system will be in this mode. This mode
should be used for most driving conditions.
Alternate ESC modes should only be used for
specific reasons as noted in the following
paragraphs.
Partial Off
The “Partial Off” mode is intended for times
when a more spirited driving experience is
desired. This mode may modify TCS and ESC
thresholds for activation, which allows for
more wheel spin than normally allowed. This
mode may be useful if the vehicle becomes
stuck.
WARNING!
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) cannot
prevent the natural laws of physics from
acting on the vehicle, nor can it increase
the traction afforded by prevailing road
conditions. ESC cannot prevent acci -
dents, including those resulting from
excessive speed in turns, driving on very
slippery surfaces, or hydroplaning. ESC
also cannot prevent accidents resulting
from loss of vehicle control due to inap -
propriate driver input for the conditions.
Only a safe, attentive, and skillful driver
can prevent accidents. The capabilities
of an ESC equipped vehicle must never
be exploited in a reckless or dangerous
manner which could jeopardize the
user’s safety or the safety of others.Vehicle modifications, or failure to prop -
erly maintain your vehicle, may change
the handling characteristics of your
vehicle, and may negatively affect the
performance of the ESC system.
Changes to the steering system, suspen -
sion, braking system, tire type and size
or wheel size may adversely affect ESC
performance. Improperly inflated and
unevenly worn tires may also degrade
ESC performance. Any vehicle modifica-
tion or poor vehicle maintenance that
reduces the effectiveness of the ESC
system can increase the risk of loss of
vehicle control, vehicle rollover, personal
injury and death.

NOTE:
When filling warm tires, the tire pressure
may need to be increased up to an additional
4 psi (28 kPa) above the recommended cold
placard pressure in order to turn the TPMS
Warning Light off.
The system will automatically update and
the TPMS Warning Light will turn off once
the system receives the updated tire pres-
sures. The vehicle may need to be driven for
up to 10 minutes above 15 mph (24 km/h)
in order for the TPMS to receive this informa -
tion.
For example, your vehicle may have a recom -
mended cold (parked for more than three
hours) placard pressure of 33 psi (227 kPa).
If the ambient temperature is 68°F (20°C)
and the measured tire pressure is 28 psi
(193 kPa), a temperature drop to 20°F
(-7°C) will decrease the tire pressure to
approximately 24 psi (165 kPa). This tire
pressure is low enough to turn on the “TPMS
Warning Light.” Driving the vehicle may
cause the tire pressure to rise to approxi -
mately 28 psi (193 kPa), but the TPMS
Warning Light will still be on. In this situa -
tion, the TPMS Warning Light will turn off
only after the tires are inflated to the
vehicle’s recommended cold placard pres -
sure value. NOTE:
The TPMS is not intended to replace
normal tire care and maintenance, or to
provide warning of a tire failure or condi
-
tion.
The TPMS should not be used as a tire
pressure gauge while adjusting your tire
pressure.
Driving on a significantly underinflated
tire causes the tire to overheat and can
lead to tire failure. Underinflation also
reduces fuel efficiency and tire tread life,
and may affect the vehicle’s handling and
stopping ability.
The TPMS is not a substitute for proper
tire maintenance, and it is the driver’s
responsibility to maintain correct tire pres-
sure using an accurate tire pressure
gauge, even if underinflation has not
reached the level to trigger illumination of
the TPMS Warning Light.
Seasonal temperature changes will affect
tire pressure, and the TPMS will monitor
the actual tire pressure in the tire.
The system only warns the tire pressure is
low: it is not able to inflate them.
CAUTION!
The TPMS has been optimized for the
original equipment tires and wheels.
TPMS pressures and warning have been
established for the tire size equipped on
your vehicle. Undesirable system opera-
tion or sensor damage may result when
using replacement equipment that is not
of the same size, type, and/or style. The
TPM sensor is not designed for use on
aftermarket wheels and may contribute
to a poor overall system performance or
sensor damage. Customers are encour -
aged to use OEM wheels to assure proper
TPM feature operation.
Using aftermarket tire sealants may
cause the Tire Pressure Monitoring
System (TPMS) sensor to become inop -
erable. After using an aftermarket tire
sealant it is recommended that you take
your vehicle to your authorized dealer to
have your sensor function checked.
After inspecting or adjusting the tire
pressure always reinstall the valve stem
cap. This will prevent moisture and dirt
from entering the valve stem, which
could damage the TPMS sensor.

Periodic Safety Checks You Should Make
Outside The Vehicle
Tires
Examine tires for excessive tread wear and
uneven wear patterns. Check for stones,
nails, glass, or other objects lodged in the
tread or sidewall. Inspect the tread for cuts
and cracks. Inspect sidewalls for cuts,
cracks, and bulges. Check the wheel nuts for
tightness. Check the tires (including spare)
for proper cold inflation pressure.
Lights
Have someone observe the operation of
brake lights and exterior lights while you
work the controls. Check turn signal and high
beam indicator lights on the instrument
panel.
Door Latches
Check for proper closing, latching, and
locking.
Fluid Leaks
Check area under the vehicle after overnight
parking for fuel, coolant, oil, or other fluid
leaks. Also, if gasoline fumes are detected or
if fuel, or brake fluid leaks are suspected, the
cause should be located and corrected
immediately.
NEVER place any objects under the floor
mat (e.g., towels, keys, etc.). These
objects could change the position of the
floor mat and may cause interference
with the accelerator, brake, or clutch
pedals.
If the vehicle carpet has been removed
and re-installed, always properly attach
carpet to the floor and check the floor
mat fasteners are secure to the vehicle
carpet. Fully depress each pedal to
check for interference with the acceler-
ator, brake, or clutch pedals then
re-install the floor mats.
It is recommended to only use mild soap
and water to clean your floor mats. After
cleaning, always check your floor mat
has been properly installed and is
secured to your vehicle using the floor
mat fasteners by lightly pulling mat.

FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE
OPERATION — IF EQUIPPED
Jeep Active Drive
Your vehicle may be equipped with a Power
Transfer Unit (PTU). This system is auto-
matic with no driver inputs or additional
driving skills required. Under normal driving
conditions, the front wheels provide most of
the traction. If the front wheels begin to lose
traction, power is shifted automatically to
the rear wheels. The greater the front wheel
traction loss, the greater the power transfer
to the rear wheels.
Additionally, on dry pavement under heavy
throttle input (where one may have no wheel
spin), torque will be sent to the rear in a
preemptive effort to improve vehicle launch
and performance characteristics.
Four Wheel Drive (4x4)
The four wheel drive (4WD) is fully automatic
in normal driving mode.
NOTE:
It is not possible to carry out the change of
mode when the vehicle exceeds the speed of
75 mph (120 km/h).
Enabling Four Wheel Drive (4x4)
The buttons for the activation of four wheel
drive are located on the device Selec-Terrain
and allow you to select the following:
4WD LOCK
4WD LOW — (Trailhawk models only)
Active Drive Control — If Equipped
Selec-Terrain Switch The Power Transfer Unit (PTU) is locked to
ensure immediate availability of torque to
the rear drive axles. This feature is selectable
in AUTO mode and automatic in the other
driving mode. 4WD LOCK can be enabled by
the following ways:
When the 4WD LOCK button is pushed.
When the Selec-Terrain switch is rotated
from AUTO to any other off-road modes.
Active Drive With Low Control — (Trailhawk
models only)
Selec-Terrain Switch (Trailhawk)
CAUTION!
All wheels must have the same size and
type tires. Unequal tire sizes must not be
used. Unequal tire size may cause failure
of the power transfer unit.

Take great care to ensure that conditions
do not change during the parking
maneuver (e.g. if there are persons and/or
animals in the parking place, moving vehi-
cles, etc.) and intervene immediately if
necessary.
During parking maneuvers, pay attention
to vehicles approaching from the opposite
direction. Always abide by the law and
road regulations.
NOTE:
Correct system operation is not guaranteed
if snow chains or the space-saver wheel
are fitted.
The function only informs the driver about
the last appropriate parking place (parallel
or perpendicular) detected by the parking
sensors.
Some messages displayed are accompa-
nied by acoustic warnings.
LANESENSE — IF EQUIPPED
LaneSense Operation
The LaneSense system is operational at
speeds above 37 mph (60 km/h) and below
112 mph (180 km/h). The LaneSense system uses a forward looking camera to
detect lane markings and measure vehicle
position within the lane boundaries.
When both lane markings are detected and
the driver unintentionally drifts out of the
lane (no turn signal applied), the LaneSense
system provides a haptic warning in the form
of torque applied to the steering wheel, as
well as a visual warning in the instrument
cluster display, to prompt the driver to
remain within the lane boundaries.
The driver may manually override the haptic
warning by applying torque into the steering
wheel at any time.
When only a single lane marking is detected
and the driver unintentionally drifts across
the lane marking (no turn signal applied), the
LaneSense system provides a visual warning
through the instrument cluster display to
prompt the driver to remain within the lane.
When only a single lane marking is detected,
a haptic (torque) warning will not be
provided.
NOTE:
When operating conditions have been met,
the LaneSense system will monitor if the
driver’s hands are on the steering wheel and
provide an audible and visual warning to the
driver when the driver’s hands are not
detected on the steering wheel. The system
will cancel if the driver does not return their
hands to the wheel.
Turning LaneSense On Or Off
The default status of LaneSense is
“Off”.
The LaneSense button is located on the
switch panel below the Uconnect display.
To turn the LaneSense system on, push the
LaneSense button (LED turns off). A “Lane
Sense On” message is shown in the instru -
ment cluster display.
To turn the LaneSense system off, push the
LaneSense button again (LED turns on).
NOTE:
The LaneSense system will retain the last
system state on or off from the last ignition
cycle when the ignition is changed to the ON/
RUN position.
LaneSense Warning Message
The LaneSense system will indicate the
current lane drift condition through the
instrument cluster display.

When the LaneSense system is on, the lane
lines are grey when both of the lane bound-
aries have not been detected and the Lane -
Sense telltale is solid white.
Left Lane Departure — Only Left Lane Detected
When the LaneSense system is on, the
LaneSense telltale is solid white when
only the left lane marking has been
detected and the system is ready to
provide visual warnings in the instrument
cluster display if an unintentional lane
departure occurs.
When the LaneSense system senses the
lane has been approached and is in a lane
departure situation, the left thick lane line
flashes from white to grey, the left thin
line remains solid white and the Lane-
Sense telltale changes from solid white
to flashing yellow.
NOTE:
The LaneSense system operates with the
similar behavior for a right lane departure
when only the right lane marking has been
detected. Left Lane Departure — Both Lanes Detected

When the LaneSense system is on, the
lane lines turn from grey to white to indi-
cate that both of the lane markings have
been detected. The LaneSense telltale
is solid green when both lane markings
have been detected and the system is
“armed” to provide visual warnings in the
instrument cluster display and a torque
warning in the steering wheel if an unin -
tentional lane departure occurs.
When the LaneSense system senses a lane
drift situation, the left thick lane line and
the left thin line turn solid white. The
LaneSense telltale changes from solid
green to solid yellow. At this time torque is
applied to the steering wheel in the oppo-
site direction of the lane boundary.
For example: if approaching the left side
of the lane the steering wheel will turn to
the right.
When the LaneSense system senses the
lane has been approached and is in a lane
departure situation, the left thick lane line
flashes from white to grey, the left thin
line remains solid white and the Lane-
Sense telltale changes from solid yellow to flashing yellow. At this time
torque is applied to the steering wheel in
the opposite direction of the lane
boundary.
For example: if approaching the left side
of the lane the steering wheel will turn to
the right.
NOTE:
The LaneSense system operates with the
similar behavior for a right lane departure.
Premium Instrument Cluster Display — If
Equipped
When the LaneSense system is on, the lane
lines are grey when both of the lane bound -
aries have not been detected and the Lane -
Sense telltale is solid white.
Left Lane Departure — Only Left Lane Detected
When the LaneSense system is on, the
LaneSense telltale is solid white when
only the left lane marking has been
detected and the system is ready to
provide visual warnings in the instrument
cluster display if an unintentional lane
departure occurs.
