WARNING
LIGHTS AND
MESSAGES
Go to a Lancia Dealership as
soon as possible if the warn-
ing light
Udoes not light up
when the key is turned to
MAR or if, during car travel, the
warning light comes on either steady
or blinking (along with a message on
the display). The operation of the
warning light
Umay be checked by
the traffic police using specific de-
vices. Follow the laws in force in the
country where you are driving.
FRONT PASSENGER
AIRBAG DISABLED
(amber)
The warning light“comes
on when the front passenger’s airbag
is disabled.
With the front passenger’s airbag on,
when the ignition key is moved to
MAR, the warning light “comes on
steadily for about 4 seconds; then, it
continues to flash for 4 seconds and
finally goes off.
“
When the warning light
comes on, “it indicates
that a light failure has occurred
¬.
In addition, the airbag system auto-
matically disables the airbag on the
passenger’s side (both front and side
airbags, where provided). Contact
Lancia Dealership immediately to
have the system checked.
WARNING
ABS SYSTEM FAILURE
(amber)
When the ignition key is
moved to MAR, the warning
light turns on and should go off after
a few seconds.
The warning light lights up when the
system is either not working or not
available. In this case, the braking
system preserves its efficiency unal-
tered without, however, offering the
extra operating capacity of the ABS
system. Drive carefully and go to a
Lancia Dealership as soon as possible.
The display will show the dedicated
message.
>
FUEL RESERVE (amber)
When the ignition key is
moved to MAR, the warn-
ing light turns on and should
go off after a few seconds.
The warning light turns on when
about 6 to 7 litres of fuel are left in
the tank.
IMPORTANT The warning light
flashes to indicate a system failure. Go
to a Lancia Dealership to have the
system checked.

GLOW PLUG HEATING
FAILURE
(Multijet versions - amber)
Glow plug heating
The warning light goes on when the
key is turned to MAR. It goes out as
soon as the glow plugs have reached
the preset temperature. Start the en-
gine as soon as the warning light goes
out.
IMPORTANT At high ambient tem-
peratures the warning light stays on
for an extremely short time.
Glow plug heating failure
The warning light flashes in the event
of a failure in the glow plug heating
system. Go to a Lancia Dealership as
soon as possible.
The display will show the dedicated
message.
m
WATER IN DIESEL
FUEL FILTER (Multijet
versions - amber)
When the ignition key is
moved to MAR, the warning light
turns on and should go off after a few
seconds.
The warning lightcturns on when
there is water in the diesel fuel filter.
The display will show the dedicated
message.
c
The presence of water in the
supply circuit may cause se-
vere damage to the injection
system and irregular engine
operation. If the warning light cgoes
on (with the message on the display
on some versions), go to a Lancia
Dealership as soon as possible to re-
move clogging from the system.
Whenever the warning light comes on
immediately after refuelling, water
may have been introduced in the
tank. In this case, stop the engine im-
mediately and contact a Lancia Deal-
ership.
CAR PROTECTION
SYSTEM FAULT -
LANCIA CODE (amber)
Turning the key to MAR, the
warning light flashes once and then
goes off.
If the warning light stays on with the
ignition key positioned on MAR, a
failure may have occurred (see “Lan-
cia Code system” in section “Dash-
board and controls”).
IMPORTANT Simultaneous turning
on of the warning lights Uand
Yindicates a failure in the Lancia
CODE system.
If the warning light
Yflashes with
the engine running, the car is not pro-
tected by the engine inhibitor device
(see “Lancia Code system” in section
“Dashboard and controls”).
Contact Lancia Dealership to have all
the keys stored.
Y
REAR FOG LIGHTS
(amber)

tected in one of the following lights:
– tail lights
– stop lights (excluding 3
rdstop)
– rear fog lights
– direction indicators

The fault identified in the lights above
may be due to: one or more burnt
lamps, a blown protection fuse or in-
terruption of the electrical connection.
The display will show the dedicated
message.
è
Fresh air filter clogged
(where provided)
The warning light turns on when the
particulate filter is clogged and the
driving conditions do not enable au-
tomatic activation of the regeneration
procedure.
To allow the regeneration procedure,
keep the car running until the warn-
ing light turns off.
The display will show the dedicated
message.

❒using a second cable connect the
negative terminal (–) of the auxil-
iary battery to the ground E
on the
engine or on the gearbox of the car
to be started;
❒Start the engine;
❒when the engine has been started,
remove the leads reversing the or-
der above.
If after various attempts the engine
does not start, do not persist in vain.
Contact a Lancia Dealership.
IMPORTANT Do not connect the neg-
ative terminals of the two batteries di-
rectly: sparks could ignite explosive
gas released from the battery. If the
auxiliary battery is installed on an-
other car, prevent accidental contact
between metallic parts of the two cars.Never use a quick battery
charger for the emergency
start: this could damage the
electronic systems and the
engine fuel feed and ignition control
units.
This starting procedure
must be carried out by expert per-
sonnel as incorrect manoeuvres can
cause electric discharges of consid-
erable intensity. Furthermore, bat-
tery fluid is poisonous and corrosive:
avoid contact with your skin and
eyes. Keep naked flames away from
the battery. No smoking. Do not
cause sparks.

Indicate that the car is sta-
tionary according to the laws
in force: emergency lights, refracting
warning triangle, etc. Passengers
should leave the car, particularly if it
is very loaded and wait for the wheel
to be changed away from on-coming
traffic. In case of steep slopes or
rough slopes, place wedges or other
materials suitable to stop the vehicle
under the wheels.
WARNINGQUICK TYRE
REPAIR KIT FIX
& GO automatic
(if provided for)
The quick tyre repair kit Fix & Go
automaticfig. 3is placed in the boot.
The kit includes:
❒cylinderAcontaining sealing liq-
uid and fitted with:
– filling pipe B;
– adhesive label Cbearing the
words “max. 80 km/h”, to be at-
tached in a position easily visi-
ble to the driver (on the dash-
board) after tyre repair;
❒informative leaflet fig. 4, used to
ensure the correct use of the quick
tyre repair kit and then given to
the personnel who will handle the
treated tyre; BUMP STARTING
Never jump start the engine by push-
ing, towing or driving downhill. This
could cause a flow of fuel into the cat-
alytic converter and damage it beyond
repair.
IMPORTANT Remember that the
brake booster and the power steering
system are not operating until the en-
gine is started, a greater effort will
therefore be required to press the
brake pedal or turn the steering
wheel.
