Removal and Inst all ati on
Removal
1. W ARNING: Make sure t o s upport the vehicle wit h axles tands .
Rais e and s upport t he vehi cl e.
1.
Drai n t he t ransmis s ion fluid.
Refer t o: Transmis s ion Flui d Drai n and Refi ll - I6 3.2L Pet rol (307-01Automat ic Transmis si on/Trans axl e, General Procedures ).
2.
Remove t he front subframe as s embly.
Refer t o: Front Subframe (502-00 Uni -Body, Subframe and Mount ingSyst em, Removal and Ins tall ati on).

4. CAUTION: Be prepared to col lect escaping oil .4.
Remove t he gas ket.5.
Installation
For seal ant s peci fi cat ion, refer to t he s peci fi cat ions s ect ion.
Refer t o: Specificati ons (307-01 Aut omati c Trans mis s ion/Trans axle,Speci fi cat ions ).
1.

Apply a bead of s ealant, 3 mm diamet er, to the area
i ndi cat ed.
2.
Inst all t he fl uid pan and t ight en in a diagonal s equence.
T orque: 14 Nm 3.
Inst all t he front subframe.
Refer t o: Front Subframe (502-00 Uni -Body, Subframe and Mount ing
Syst em, Removal and Ins tall ati on).
4.
Refi ll t he transmis s ion wi th flui d.

Removal
Remove t he cover and dis connect the bat tery ground cabl e.
Refer t o: Specificati ons (414-00 Bat tery and Charging Sys tem -General Informat ion, Specificati ons).

Remove t he oil pan.
Refer t o: Transmis s ion Flui d Pan (307-01 Automat icTrans mi ss ion/Transaxle, Removal and Ins tal lati on).

Remove the oi l temperat ure sens or.4.
5. CAUTIONS:
Take ext ra care not t o damage the wiring harnes ses .
Not e the fi tt ed posi ti on of the component prior t oremoval.
Release the trans mi ss i on wiring harnes s .

Remove the sucti on cover and dis card t he gas ket .6.

CAUTIONS: Not e the fi tt ed posi ti on of the component prior t o
removal. Take ext ra care not t o damage the wiring harnes ses .

Installation 1. NOTE: Make s ure t hat this component is i nst all ed to the not ed
removal posi ti on.
Inst all t he val ve body, do not t ighten at t his s t age.

Inst all t he s uct ion cover and new gas ket, do not t ighten at t his
s tage.
2. Tighten the bolt s i n t he sequence ill ust rat ed.
T orque: 10 Nm 3.
4. CAUTION: Make s ure that the wiring harnes s es are correct ly
l ocated.

10 Nm Inst all t he oil pan.

Connect t he batt ery ground cable and ins tall t he cover.
Refer t o: Specificati ons (414-00 Bat tery and Charging Sys tem -

Remove t he cover and dis connect the bat tery ground cabl e.

Drai n t he t ransmis s ion fluid.

Drai n t he cool ant .

Cool ing Sys tem Drai ni ng, Fi lli ng and Bleeding (303-03A

Remove t he acces sory dri ve pul ley.
Refer t o: Acces sory Dri ve Pulley (303-05A Acces s ory Drive - I6 3.2L
Petrol, Removal and Ins tall ati on).

Remove t he front subframe as s embly.
Refer t o: Front Subframe (502-00 Uni -Body, Subframe and Mount ing
Syst em, Removal and Ins tall ati on).
7.
Remove t he cranks haft front oil s eal.
Refer t o: Engi ne Front Seal (303-01A Engi ne - I6 3.2L Pet rol,
Removal and Ins tall ati on).
8. Releas e t he LH and RH hal fs haft s.
Speci al Tool (s ): 205-857 9.
Remove t he LH halfshaft.

Remove t he RH halfs haft.
11.
Tie the s us pens ion arms as ide for acces s.
12. Remove t he power t rans fer unit s upport bracket .

NOTE: Thi s s tep requires the ai d of anot her
t echnician.
Remove t he power t rans fer unit as s embly.
14. If the l ocki ng pin on t he s peci al t ool is di sengaged, t he
crankshaft can be rot at ed.

Remove t he acces s cover.
16. Releas e t he fl expl at e.
17. Remove t he cool ant pump inlet pipe.
18. Releas e and dis connect the sel ect or l ever cable.
