Operation of the air conditioning system in Eco drive mode (without navi-
gation system)
Eco drive mode controls the heating/ cooling operations and fan speed of
the air conditioning system to enhance fuel efficiency. (P. 320) To
improve air conditioning performance, adjust the fan speed or turn off Eco
drive mode.
Operation of the air conditioning system in Eco drive mode (with navigation
system)
Eco drive mode controls the heating/cooling operations and fan speed of the
air conditioning system to enhance fuel efficiency. To improve air condi-
tioning performance, adjust the fan speed or turn off Eco drive mode. (Refer
to the “Navigation System Owner’s Manual”.)
For the shift positions
When the “POWER” switch is off, the shift position cannot be changed.
When the “POWER” switch is in ON mode (the hybrid system is not
operating), the shift position can only be changed to N. The shift position
will be changed to N even if the shift lever is shifted to D or R and held
in that position.
When the “READY” indicator is on, the shift position can be changed
from P to D, N or R.
When the “READY” indicator is flashing, the shift position cannot be
changed from P to another position even if the shift lever is operated.
Wait until the “READY” indicator changes from a flashing to a solid
light, and then operate the shift lever again.
The shift position can only be changed to B directly from D.

About engine braking
When shift position B is selected, releasing the accelerator pedal will apply
engine braking.
• When the vehicle is driven at high speeds, compared to ordinary gaso-
line-fueled vehicles, the engine braking deceleration is felt less than that
of other vehicles.
• The vehicle can be accelerated even when shift position B is selected.
If the vehicle is driven continuously in the B position, fuel efficiency will
become low. Usually, select the D position.
Automatically P position selection function
When the “POWER” switch is in ON mode while the shift position is in a
position other than P and the vehicle is stopped completely, pressing the
“POWER” switch will cause the automatically P position selection function
to operate together with the “POWER” switch being turned to off.
If the shift position cannot be shifted from P
There is a possibility that the 12-volt battery is discharged. Check the 12-
volt battery in this situation. (P. 620)
Sport mode automatic deactivation
Sport mode is automatically deactivated if the “POWER” switch is turned
off after driving in sport mode.
After recharging/reconnecting the 12-volt battery

Turn signal lever
Turn signals can be operated when
The “POWER” switch is in ON mode.
If the indicator flashes faster than usual
Check that a light bulb in the front or rear turn signal lights has not burned
out.
The turn signal lever can be used to show the following intention
of the driver:
Right turn
Left turn
Lane change to the right
(push and hold the lever
partway)
The right hand signals will

Gauges and meters
The following gauges and meters and display illuminate when the
“POWER” switch is in ON mode:
Hybrid System Indicator
Displays hybrid system output or regeneration level
Tachometer (if equipped)
Displays the engine speed in revolutions per minute
Speedometer
Displays the vehicle speed
ECO lamp and SPORT lamp (if equipped)
Changes colors according to driving mode
Fuel gauge
Displays the quantity of fuel remaining in the tank
Multi-information display

The temperature range that can be displayed is from -40 C (-40 F)
to 50 C (122 F)

*1: These lights turn on when the “POWER” switch is turned to the
ON mode to indicate that a system check is being performed. They
will turn off after the hybrid system is on, or after a few seconds.
There may be a malfunction in a system if a light does not come
on, or if the lights do not turn off. Have the vehicle inspected by
any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified
and equipped professional.

CAUTION
If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system light such as the ABS and SRS airbag warning light
not come on when you start the hybrid system, this could mean that these
systems are not available to help protect you in an accident, which could
result in death or serious injury. Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped pro-
fessional immediately if this occurs.
Warning lights
Warning lights inform the driver of malfunctions in any of the
vehicle’s systems. (P. 558)
*1: These lights turn on when the “POWER” switch is turned to ON

Cruising rangeDisplays the average fuel consumption
since the function was reset.
• The function can be reset by pressing
the “DISP” button for longer than 1
second when the average fuel con-
sumption is displayed.
• Use the displayed average fuel con-
sumption as a reference.
Displays the estimated maximum dis-
tance that can be driven with the quan-
tity of fuel remaining.
• This distance is computed based on
your average fuel consumption.
As a result, the actual distance that
can be driven may differ from that
displayed.
• When only a small amount of fuel is
added to the tank, the display may not
be updated.
When refueling, turn the “POWER”
switch off. If the vehicle is refueled
without turning the “POWER” switch
off, the display may not be updated.

Headlight switch
The headlights can be operated manually or automatically.
Turning the end of the lever turns on the lights as follows:
The front position,
tail, license plate

Daytime running light system (if equipped)
To make your vehicle more visible to other drivers, the front position lights
turn on automatically (at an increased intensity) whenever the hybrid system
is started. Daytime running lights are not designed for use at night.
Headlight control sensor
Automatic light off system
When the light switch is in the or position: The headlights
turn off automatically if the “POWER” switch is turned to ACCES-
SORY mode or OFF.
When the light switch is in the position: The headlights and all
lights turn off automatically if the “POWER” switch is turned to
ACCESSORY mode or OFF and the driver’s door is opened.
To turn the lights on again, turn the “POWER” switch to ON mode, or turn
the light switch off once and then back to the
or position.
Automatic headlight leveling system (if equipped)
The level of the headlights is automatically adjusted according to the num-
ber of passengers and the loading condition of the vehicle to ensure that the
headlights do not interfere with other road users.
Light reminder buzzer (if equipped)
A buzzer sounds when the “POWER” switch is turned off or turned to
ACCESSORY mode and the driver’s door is opened while the lights are
turned on.
The sensor may not function properly if
an object is placed on the sensor, or any-
thing that blocks the sensor is affixed to
the windshield.
Doing so interferes with the sensor
detecting the level of ambient light and
may cause the automatic headlight sys-
tem to malfunction
