YES >> GO TO 4.
NO >> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
4.CHECK THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
1. Check the continuity between electric thro ttle control actuator harness connector and ground.
2. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 5.
NO >> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
5.CHECK THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
Refer to EC-420, "
Component Inspection".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> GO TO 7.
NO >> GO TO 6.
6.REPLACE ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL ACTUATOR
Replace electric throttle control actuator. Refer to EM-28, "
Removal and Installation".

7.CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to GI-42, "

With CONSULT
1. On CONSULT screen, select the following items in “DATA MONITOR”.
- ENG SPEED
- COOLAN TEMP/S
- B/FUEL SCHDL
- A/F IMBALNC DIAG-CPS STAT
- A/F IMBLNC DIAG-CPS CMPLT
2. Drive vehicle under the following conditions for at least 20 consecutive seconds. CAUTION:
• Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.
• This procedure must be performed by two or more persons.
NOTE:
•Keep the accelerator pedal as possible during cruising.
• Drive the vehicle at approximately 88 km/h (55MPH) allows easy diagnosis.
3. Check “A/F IMBLNC DIAG -CPS CMPLT” indication.
Is
“CMPLT” displayed?
YES >> GO TO 5.
NO >> GO TO 2.
5.PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE-3
Check 1st trip DTC.
Is 1st trip DTC detected?
YES >> Proceed to EC-433, "Diagnosis Procedure".
NO >> INSPECTION END
6.PERFORM DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE-4
With GST
1. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
2. Drive vehicle under the following conditions for at least 20 consecutive seconds. CAUTION:
• Always drive vehicle at a safe speed.
NOTE:
•Keep the accelerator pedal as possible during crusing.
• Drive the vehicle at approximately 88 km/h (55MPH) allows easy diagnosis.
3. Check 1st trip DTC.
Is 1st trip DTC detected?
YES >> Proceed to EC-433, "Diagnosis Procedure".
NO >> INSPECTION END
ENG SPEED 2,000 – 2,600 rpm (M/T)
1,400 – 2,000 rpm (CVT)
COOLAN TEMP/S More than 80°C (176 °F)
B/FUEL SCHDL 6 – 8 msec
Selector lever 4th or more (M/T)
D position (CVT)
A/F IMBALNC DIAG-CPS STAT PRSNT
Engine speed 2,000 – 2,600 rpm (M/T)
1,400 – 2,000 rpm (CVT)

1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Perform “COOLING FAN” in “A CTIVE TEST” mode with CONSULT.
3. Touch “LOW” and “Hi” on the CONSULT screen.
4. Check that cooling fan operates.
NOTE:
The cooling fan operates at high speeds even when “LOW” is selected in CONSULT “ACTIVE TEST”. (For sin-
gle connector cooling fan with M/T models)
Without CONSULT
1. Perform IPDM E/R auto active test and check cooling fan motor operation. Refer to PCS-9, "
Diagnosis
Description".
2. Check that cooling fan operates.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES >> INSPECTION END
NO >> Refer to EC-441, "
Diagnosis Procedure".

REMOVAL
WARNING:
Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is
hot. Serious burns could occur from high-pressure
engine coolant escaping from the radi ator. Wrap a thick cloth around the radiator cap. Slowly turn it a
quarter of a turn to release built-up pressure. Carefu lly remove radiator cap by turning it all the way.
NOTE:
When removing components such as hoses, tubes/lines, etc. , cap or plug openings to prevent fluid from spill-
ing.

1. Drain engine coolant. Refer to
CO-8, "Draining Engine Coolant".

• Perform this step when the engine is cold.

RADIATOR
1. Drain engine coolant. Refer to
CO-8, "Draining Engine Coolant".
CAUTION:
• Perform this step when the engine is cold.

< REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION >[HR16DE]
RADIATOR
1. Drain engine coolant. Refer to
CO-8, "Draining Engine Coolant".
CAUTION:
• Perform this step when the engine is cold.
• Do not spill engine coolant on drive belt.
2. Remove air duct (inlet). Refer to EM-26, "
Removal and Installation".
3. Disconnect battery negative terminal. Refer to PG-70, "
Removal and Installation (Battery)".
4. Remove radiator hose (lower).
5. Remove radiator hose (upper) from water outlet.
6. Remove the front under cover. Refer to EXT-39, "
FRONT UNDER COVER : Removal and Installation".
7. Remove the front grille. Refer to EXT-32, "
Removal and Installation".
8. Disconnect reservoir tank hose, and remove reservoir tank.
9. Disconnect harness connector from fan motor, and move harness aside.
10. Remove radiator core support (upper). Refer to DLK-144, "
RADIATOR CORE SUPPORT UPPER :
Removal and Installation".
11. Remove the condenser bolts and place aside. Refer to HA-31, "
CONDENSER : Removal and Installa-
tion".
12. Remove radiator hose (upper) from radiator.
13. Remove cooling fan assembly. Refer to CO-16, "
Removal and Installation".
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage or scratch the radiator.
14. Disconnect CVT cooler lines.
15. Remove the radiator from bottom of the vehicle. CAUTION:
When removing, do not damage or scrat ch radiator core or A/C condenser.
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse O-ring.
• Insert the radiator hose (1) all the way to the stopper (2) or by 33 mm (1.30 in) (hose without a stopper) as
shown.
• The correct orientation of the hose clamps are as shown.
*: Refer to the illustrations for the specific position for each hose clamp tab. 1. Radiator hose
