2. The blower speed dial is turned completely counterclockwise to the OFF position.
3. The A/C switch is manually turned OFF.
In other words, the compressor ON request cannot be turned off in D/F or DEF modes.
REFRIGERANT PRESSURE PROTECTION
The refrigerant system is protected against excessively high- or low-pressures by the refrigerant pressure sen-
sor, located on the liquid tank on the condenser. The refr igerant pressure sensor detects the pressure inside
the refrigerant line and sends a voltage signal to the EC M. If the system pressure rises above or falls below
the following values, the ECM requests the IPDM E/ R to de-energize the A/C relay and disengage the com-
pressor.
• 3.12 MPa (31.82 kg/cm
2, 452.4 psi) or more (When the engine speed is less than 1,500 rpm)
• 2.74 MPa (27.95 kg/cm
2, 397.3 psi) or more (When the engine speed is 1,500 rpm or more)
• 0.14 MPa (1.43 kg/cm
2, 20.3 psi) or less
PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE
The refrigerant system is also protected by a pressure relief valve, located in the rear head of the compressor.
When the pressure of refrigerant in the system incr eases to an abnormal level [more than 2,990 kPa (30.5 kg/
cm
2, 433.6 psi)], the release port on the pressure relief valve automatically opens and releases refrigerant into
the atmosphere.
COMPRESSOR OIL CIRCULATION CONTROL
When the engine starts while the engine coolant temperature is 56 °C (133 °F) or less, ECM activates the com-
pressor for approximately 6 seconds and circulates the compressor lubricant once.
OPERATING RATE CONTROL
When the set temperature is other than fully cold or the air outlet is “VENT”, “B/L” or “FOOT”, the front air con-
trol controls the compressor activation depending on ambient temperature.
Door ControlINFOID:0000000009463200
DOOR MOTOR CONTROL
• A Local Control Unit (LCU) is built into each door motor and detects the door position by using a Position
Balanced Resistor (PBR).
• Each door motor LCU has a unique address. The front air control communicates with the door motor LCUs by using each door’s unique communication address. The front air control sends requested door position
commands to each door motor LCU via a Local Interconnect Network (LIN) communication line. Each door
motor’s LCU receives the command and sends back a door position feedback signal.
• Each LCU controls each door to the appropriate posit ion depending on the control signal from the front air
control. When the door movement is complete, the LCU transmits a signal to the front air control indicating
that the door movement is complete.

COMPONENT PARTS
IPDM E/RThe IPDM E/R activates the tail lamp relay based on inputs re-
ceived from the BCM via the CAN communication.
Push button ignition switch Provides ignition switch status to the BCM.
Door switches Provides door OPEN/CLOSED status to the BCM.
Combination switch
(lighting and turn signal switch) The combination switch (lighting and turn signal switch) provides
input to the BCM. The BCM then sends a tail lamp relay request
signal to the IPDM E/R via CAN communication to operate the il-
lumination system.
Trunk lamp switch and release solenoid
(trunk lamp switch) Provides trunk lamp switch OP
EN/CLOSED status to the BCM.
Power window and door lock/unlock switch RH Provides door lock/unlock position switch RH status to the BCM.
Main power window and door lock/unlock switch Provides door lock/unlock position switch LH status to the BCM.
Meter control switch
(illumination control switch) • Adjusts the illumination system and combination meter illumina-
tion brightness (with multiple illumination control).
• Only adjusts the combination meter illumination brightness
(with meter illumination control only).
Front door lock assembly LH (key cylinder switch) Provides front door lock assembly LH (key cylinder switch) door
lock/unlock switch position status to the BCM.

System DescriptionINFOID:0000000009463866
WITH MULTIPLE ILLUMINATION CONTROL
The illumination system is activated by the combinat ion switch (lighting and turn signal switch) when the
switch is placed in the 1st or 2nd position (or if the auto light system is activated).
The illumination system and combination meter illuminati on brightness is adjustable using the meter control
switch (illumination control switch).
• The BCM (body control module) receives the parking lamp request signal from the combination switch (light-
ing and turn signal switch) to turn the lights on.
• The BCM sends the parking lamp request signal to t he IPDM E/R (intelligent power distribution module
engine room) via CAN communication.
• IPDM E/R receives the parking lamp request signal from the BCM to activate the tail lamp relay and provide
power to the illumination system.
WITH METER ILLUMINATION CONTROL ONLY
The illumination system is activated by the combinat ion switch (lighting and turn signal switch) when the
switch is placed in the 1st or 2nd position (or if the auto light system is activated).
Only the combination meter illumination brightness is adjustable using the meter control switch (illumination
control switch).

ILLUMINATION CONTROL SYSTEM
• The BCM (body control module) receives the parking lamp request signal from the combination switch (light-
ing and turn signal switch) to turn the lights on.
• The BCM sends the parking lamp request signal to t he IPDM E/R (intelligent power distribution module
engine room) via CAN communication.
• IPDM E/R receives the parking lamp request signal from the BCM to activate the tail lamp relay and provide power to the illumination system.
BATTERY SAVER CONTROL
When the combination switch (lighting and turn signal switch) is in the 1st or 2nd position and the ignition
switch is set from ON or ACC to OFF, the battery save r control feature is activated. Under this condition, the
illumination system remains on for 15 minutes unless the combination switch (lighting and turn signal switch)
position is changed. If the combination switch (light ing and turn signal switch) position is changed, then the
illumination system is turned off after a 30 second delay . When the combination switch (lighting and turn signal
switch) is turned from OFF to 1st or 2nd position (or if auto light system is activated) after illumination system
has been turned off by the battery saver control, the illumination lights illuminate again.
