door motor and drive signal, although it cannot be detected by self-
diagnosis, the door motor will vibrate when it operate.

< FUNCTION DIAGNOSIS >
METER SYSTEM
The distance to empty indication provides the driver with an estimation of the distance that can be driven
before refueling. The distance to empty is calculated using signals from the fuel level sensor unit (fuel remain-
ing), ECM (fuel consumption) and vehicle speed signals from the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).
JOURNY TIME
The travel time since last reset is displayed.
AVERAGE FUEL CONSUMTION
Average fuel consumption indication is calculated using vehicle speed signals from the ABS actuator and elec-
tric unit (control unit) and fuel consumption information from the ECM.
AVERAGE SPEED
The average speed mode can be selected to display the average speed since last reset. The indications are
calculated using vehicle speed signals from the ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit).
OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE
The combination meter indicates the outside air temperature calculated by the temperature signal received
from the ambient sensor.
The indicated temperature is not readily affected by engine heat. It changes only when one of the following
conditions is present.
The temperature detected by the ambient sensor is lower than the indicated temperature
The vehicle speed is greater than 20 km/h (13 MPH)
(This is to prevent the indicated temperature from being affected by engine heat during low-speed driving.)
The ignition switch has been turned to the OFF position for more than 3.5 hours. (The engine is cold.)
When the ambient air temperature falls below 3°C (37°F), the display starts flashing. Approximately 20 sec-
onds later, only “°C” flashes.
NOTE:
On vehicles equipped with auto A/C, the ambient sensor signal is shared with the front air control. The combi-
nation meter is notified of the signal sharing via the auto A/C sense circuit.

MEMORY RESET PROCEDURE
1. Please observe the following instructions while confirming the sunroof operation.
NOTE:
Do not disconnect the battery power while the sunroof is operating or within 5 seconds after the sunroof
stops (to wipe-out the memory of lid position and operating friction).
2. Initialization of system should be conducted after the following conditions.
When the battery has been disconnected or discharged.
When the sunroof motor has been disconnected from power.
When the sunroof motor is changed.
When the sunroof does not operate normally (Incomplete initialization conditions).
ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN REPLACING CONTROL UNIT : Special Repair Re-
quirement
INFOID:0000000001724557
INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE
If the sunroof does not close or open automatically, use the following procedure to return sunroof operation to
normal.
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Push and release the tilt up switch to start the tilt up operation.
3. Push and hold the tilt up switch until the sunroof pops up.
NOTE:
The sunroof will move toward the tilt up direction and will be stopped mechanically, at which time it will be
automatically fully closed. Keep pushing the switch during this operation. Release the switch when the
operation is complete.
4. Push and hold the tilt up switch within 10 seconds of step 3.
5. After 4 seconds, the sunroof will be automatically cycled in sequence of slide open-tilt up-tilt down.
NOTE:
Keep pushing the switch during this operation.
6. When the sunroof stops, release the switch 0.5 second later.
7. If the slide switch operates normally, the initialization is complete.

Trouble Diagnosis without CONSULT-IIIINFOID:0000000001396362
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE 6
Inspect SRS Malfunction Using "AIR BAG" Warning Lamp—Diagnosis Mode
NOTE:
SRS will not enter Diagnosis mode if no malfunction is detected in User mode.
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. After “AIR BAG” warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, turn ignition switch OFF within 1 second.
3. Wait more than 3 seconds.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 two more times (3 times total).
5. Turn ignition switch ON.
SRS is now in Diagnosis mode. Refer to SRC-13, "
Trouble Diagnosis without CONSULT-III".
CONSULT-III Function (AIR BAG)INFOID:0000000001396363
CONSULT-III can display each diagnostic item using the diagnostic test modes shown following.
Self-Diagnosis Function (Without CONSULT-III)INFOID:0000000001396364
The reading of these results is accomplished using one of two modes —“User mode” and “Diagnosis mode”.
After a malfunction is repaired, turn the ignition switch OFF for at least one second, then back ON. Diagnosis
mode returns to the User mode. At that time, the self-diagnostic result is cleared.
AIR BAG diagnostic mode Description
SELF-DIAG [CURRENT]A current Self-diagnosis result (also indicated by the number of warning lamp flashes in the Diagnosis
mode) is displayed on the CONSULT-III screen in real time. This refers to a malfunctioning part requir-
ing repairs.
SELF-DIAG [PAST]Diagnosis results previously stored in the memory are displayed on the CONSULT-III screen. The
stored results will remain until memory erasing is executed.
TROUBLE DIAG RECORDWith TROUBLE DIAG RECORD, diagnosis results previously erased by a reset operation can be dis-
played on the CONSULT-III screen.
ECU DISCRIMINATED NO.The air bag diagnosis sensor unit for each vehicle model is assigned with its own, individual classifica-
tion number. This number will be displayed on the CONSULT-III screen, as shown. When replacing the
air bag diagnosis sensor unit, refer to the part number for the compatibility. After installation, replace-
ment with a correct unit can be checked by confirming this classification number on the CONSULT-III
screen.
The air bag diagnosis sensor unit discriminated numbers assigned are:
A60C (LHD vehicles with front side air bags only)
A60A (RHD vehicles with front side air bags only)
A60E (LHD vehicles with front side and side curtain air bags)
A60B (RHD vehicles with front side and side curtain air bags)
A611 (vehicles without front side and side curtain air bags)
PASSENGER AIR BAGThe STATUS (readiness) of the front passenger air bag module is displayed. The STATUS displayed
(ON/OFF) depends on the signals supplied to the air bag diagnosis sensor unit from the passenger air
bag deactivation switch. Refer to SRC-8, "
Passenger Air Bag Deactivation Switch" for more informa-
tion.
