i s a c c o m p a n i e d b y a s l i g h t d i s c h a r g e
of harmless smoke and a noise, due
t o t h e a c t i v a t i o n o f t h e p y r o t e c h n i c c a r -
t r i d g e i n c o r p o r a t e d i n t h e s y s t e m .
I n a l l c a s e s , t h e a i r b a g w a r n i n g l i g h t
comes on.

AIR BAGS
The air bags have been designed to
m a x i m i s e t h e s a f e t y o f t h e o c c u p a n t s i n
t h e e v e n t o f v i o l e n t c o l l i s i o n s . T h e y s u p -
p l e m e n t t h e a c t i o n o f t h e f o r c e - l i m i t i n g
seat belts.
In this case, the electronic detectors
record and analyse the front and side
i m p a c t s s u f f e r e d i n t h e i m p a c t d e t e c t i o n
z o n e s :

i n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i o u s i m p a c t , t h e
a i r b a g s a r e d e p l o y e d i n s t a n t a n e o u s -
ly
a n d p r o t e c t t h e o c c u p a n t s o f t h e v e h i c l e ; i m m e d i a t e l y a f t e r t h e i m p a c t ,
t h e a i r b a g s d e l a t e r a p i d l y s o t h a t
they do not hinder the visibility of the
o c c u p a n t s o r t h e i r p o s s i b l e e x i t f r o m
the vehicle,
- i n t h e e v e n t o f a m i n o r i m p a c t o r r e a r i m p a c t a n d i n c e r t a i n r o l l - o v e r
c o n d i t i o n s , t h e a i r b a g s w i l l n o t b e
d e p l o y e d ; t h e s e a t b e l t a l o n e i s s u f -

tion in these situations.
The air bags do not operate when
the ignition is off.

T h e d e p l o y m e n t o f o n e o r m o r e a i r
b a g s i s a c c o m p a n i e d b y a s l i g h t
discharge of harmless smoke and
a noise, due to the activation of the
p y r o t e c h n i c c a r t r i d g e i n c o r p o r a t e d
in the system.
T h i s s m o k e i s n o t h a r m f u l , b u t s e n -
s i t i v e i n d i v i d u a l s m a y e x p e r i e n c e
some irritation.
The noise of the detonation may
result in a slight loss of hearing for
a short time.

Deactivation

with the ignition off , insert the key

turn it to the "OFF" p o s i t i o n ,
t h e n , r e m o v e t h e k e y k e e p i n g t h e
s w i t c h i n t h i s p o s i t i o n .
A c c o r d i n g t o v e r s i o n , t h i s w a r n -
ing light comes on either on the
i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l o r o n t h e c e n -

When you remove the child seat, turn

After an accident or if the vehicle has
been stolen or broken into, have the
air bag systems checked.
