VOICE COMMAND SYSTEM
1Press button.
2Say the phone number.
In the same manner as it is displayed on
the screen, “Dial ”, after saying
“Dial a number” say the phone number.
 Say the phone number one digit at a time.
For example, if the phone number is
2345678:
Say “two three four five six seven
eight”
Do not say “twenty three forty five sixty
seven eight”
 Calling to the following phone numbers
• 3 digit numbers (911, 411, 611)
• 7 digit numbers (Local phone numbers)
• 10 digit numbers (Area code + Local
phone number)
• 11 digit phone numbers (1 + Area code + Local phone number)
 As the system cannot recognize additional
numbers, say the complete number with-
out stopping.
Calling to other phone numbers
3Say “Call” or press the switch on
the steering wheel.
VOICE COMMAND EXAMPLE:
DIAL NUMBER
 When the system recognizes multiple
phone numbers, a phone number candi-
date list will be displayed on the screen.
Pressing the
switch on the steering
wheel makes a call to the top entry on
the list. If the desired phone number is
not displayed on the top of the screen,
say the number of the desired phone
number from the candidate list to touch
a phone number from the candidate list.

2. CASUAL SPEECH RECOGNITION
Due to natural language speech recog-
nition technology, this system enables
recognition of a command when spo-
ken naturally. However, the system
cannot recognize every variation of
each command. In some situations, it
is possible to omit the command for the
procedure and directly state the de-
sired operation. Not all voice com-
mands are displayed in the function
menu.
INFORMATION
If the command cannot be recognized
completely, the command input screen
will be displayed. (Search results will be
shown based on the part of the com-
mand that was recognized.)

2. HANDS-FREE SYSTEM
The hands-free system enables calls
to be made and received without hav-
ing to take your hands off the steering
wheel.
This system supports Bluetooth
®.
Bluetooth
® is a wireless data system
that enables cellular phones to be used
without being connected by a cable or
placed in a cradle. The operating pro-
cedure of the phone is explained here.
CAUTION
 While driving, do not use a cellular
phone or connect the Bluetooth® phone.

Your audio unit is fitted with Bluetooth®
antennas. People with implantable car-
diac pacemakers, cardiac resynchroniza-
tion therapy-pacemakers or implantable
cardioverter defibrillators should maintain
a reasonable distance between them-
selves and the Bluetooth
® antennas. The
radio waves may affect the operation of
such devices.
Before using Bluetooth® devices, users of
any electrical medical device other than
implantable cardiac pacemakers, cardiac
resynchronization therapy-pacemakers or
implantable cardioverter defibrillators
should consult the manufacturer of the
device for information about its operation
under the influence of radio waves. Radio
waves could have unexpected effects on
the operation of such medical devices.
NOTICE
 Do not leave your cellular phone in the
vehicle. The temperature inside may rise
to a level that could damage the phone.
INFORMATION
If your cellular phone does not support
Bluetooth®, this system cannot function.
 In the following conditions, the system
may not function:
• The cellular phone is turned off.
• The current position is outside the
communication area.
• The cellular phone is not connected.
• The cellular phone has a low battery.
 When using Bluetooth
® audio and
hands-free at the same time, the follow-
ing problems may occur:
• The Bluetooth
® connection may be
cut.
• Noise may be heard on the Bluetooth
®
audio playback.
REGISTERING/CONNECTING
A Bluetooth® PHONE
To use the hands-free system for cellu-
lar phones, it is necessary to register a
cellular phone with the system.

By pressing the volume switch, you can
adjust the volume.
 The vehicle's microphone is used for
hands-free calling. It is unnecessary to
speak directly into the microphone during
a call.
USING THE VOLUME SWITCH
AND MICROPHONE
The availability, actual design and but-
ton or microphone position will differ
depending on the vehicle. For details,
refer to vehicle “Owner’s Manual” .
INFORMATION
The other party’s voice will be heard
from the front speakers. The audio sys-
tem will be muted during phone calls or
when hands-free voice commands are
used.
 Talk alternately with the other party on
the phone. If both parties speak at the
same time, the other party may not hear
what has been said. (This is not a mal-
function.)
 Keep call volume down. Otherwise, the
other party’s voice may be audible out-
side the vehicle and voice echo may
increase. When talking on the phone,
speak clearly towards the microphone.
 The other party may not hear you clearly
when:
• Driving on an unpaved road. (Making
excessive traffic noise.)
• Driving at high speeds.
• The roof or windows are open.
• The air conditioning vents are pointed towards the microphone.
• The sound of the air conditioning fan is loud.
• There is a negative effect on sound quality due to the phone and/or net-
work being used.

The following data is stored for every reg-
istered phone. When another phone is
connected, the following registered data
cannot be read:
• Contact data
• Call history data
• Favorites data
• All phone settings
• Message settings 
The following data in the system can be
deleted or initialized:
• Contact data
• Call history data
• Favorites data
• All phone settings
• Message settings
• Vehicle settings (Equalizer settings)

INFORMATION
 When a phone’s registration is deleted,
the above-mentioned data is also
deleted.
WHEN SELLING OR
DISPOSING OF THE VEHICLE
A lot of personal data is registered
when the hands-free system is used.
When selling or disposing of the vehi-
cle, delete or initialize the data.

INFORMATION
 Once initialized, the data and settings
will be erased. Pay much attention when
initializing the data.

tions not expressly approved by the party
responsible for compliance could void the
user’s authority to operate the equipment.

Indicates the condition of the Bluetooth®
connection
This is not displayed when the Bluetooth®
phone is not connected.
 Depending on the type of Bluetooth® phone,
remaining battery charge may not be dis-
played.
 The amount left may not always correspond
to that of the Bluetooth
® phone. This system
does not have a charging function.
Indicates the leve l of reception
The level of reception does not always corre-
spond with the level displayed on the cellular
phone. The level of reception may not be dis-
played depending on the phone you have.
When the cellular phone is out of the service
area or in a place inaccessible by radio
waves, “No Service” is displayed.
 “Rm” is displayed when receiving in a roam-
ing area. While roaming, display “Rm” top-left
on the icon. 
The receiving area may not be displayed
depending on the type of phone you have.
Indicates the mount of battery charge
left
 The level of reception does not always corre-
spond with the level displayed on the cellular
phone. The level of reception may not be dis-
played depending on the phone you have.
When the cellular phone is out of the service
area or in a place inaccessible by radio
waves, “No Service” is displayed.

An antenna for the Bluetooth® connec-
tion is built into the display.

The condition of the Bluetooth® connection
may not be good and the system may not
function when you use the Bluetooth

phone in the following conditions.
• Your Bluetooth® phone is hidden from
the display (behind the seat or in the
glove box or console box).
• Your Bluetooth
® phone touches or is
covered with metal materials.
 Leave the Bluetooth
® phone in the place
where the Bluetooth® sensitivity is good.
