Observe the following maximum allowable speeds in each gear when maxi-
mum acceleration is necessary.

NOTICE
■ To prevent damage to the transmission
●Do not lift up the ring section except when shifting the lever to “R”.
● Shift the shift lever to “R” only when the vehicle is stationary.
●Do not shift the shift lever to “R” without
depressing the clutch pedal.

Tur n signal lever
■Turn signals can be operated when
Vehicles without smart entry & start system
The engine switch is in the “ON” position.
Vehicles with smart entry & start system
The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in the IGNITION ON mode.
■ If the indicators flash faster than usual
Check that a light bulb in the front or rear turn signal lights has not burned
out. The turn signal lever can be used to show the following intentions of
the driver:
Right turn
Left turn
Lane change to the right
(push and hold the lever
partway)
The right hand signal will flash
until you release the lever.
Lane change to the left
(push and hold the lever
partway)
The left hand signal will flash
until you release the lever.

Parking brake

NOTICE
■Before driving
Fully release the parking brake.
Driving the vehicle with the parking brake set will lead to brake components
overheating, which may affect braking performance and increase brake
wear.

■After adjusting the steering wheel
Make sure that the steering wheel is securely locked.
The horn may not sound if the steering wheel is not securely locked.

Instrument cluster light control button
To adjust the brightness of the instrument cluster light. ( →P. 197)
Speedometer
Displays the vehicle speed.
“MODE” button
Switches the multi-information display. Pushing and holding the button
will reset the trip meter when the trip meter is being displayed.

Displays the engine speed in revolutions per minute.
Fuel gauge and instrument cluster light control display
Displays the quantity of fuel remaining in the tank.

To adjust the brightness of the instrument cluster lights, push the

The “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
NOTICE
■To prevent damage to the engine and its components
●Do not let the indicator needle of the tachometer enter the red zone, which
indicates the maximum engine speed.
● The engine may be overheating if the high engine coolant temperature
warning light comes on. In this case, immediately stop the vehicle in a safe
place, and check the engine after it has cooled completely. (

■ Warning lights
Warning lights inform the driver of malfunctions in any of the
vehicle’s systems. ( →P. 439)
*1: These lights turn on when the engine switch is turned to the “ON”
position (vehicles without a smart entry & start system) or the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch is turned to IGNITION ON mode
(vehicles with a smart entry & start system) to indicate that a
system check is being performed. They will turn off after the engine
is started, or after a few seconds. There may be a malfunction in a
system if a light does not come on, or if the lights do not turn off.
Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional for
details.
*2: The indicator flashes to indicate that the system is operating.
*3: The indicator comes on to indicate a malfunction.
*4: The indicator comes on to indicate that the system is off.
