AUXILIARY MECHANISM: TEMPERATURE SETTING TRIMMER=NBHA0021S03Without Navigation SystemNBHA0021S0301The trimmer compensates for differences in range of±3ÉC (±6ÉF) between temperature setting (displayed
digitally) and temperature felt by driver.
Operating procedures for this trimmer are as follows:
IBegin Self-diagnosis STEP 5 mode.
IPress
(fan) UP switch to set system in auxiliary mode.
IDisplay shows ª
º in auxiliary mechanism.
It takes approximately 3 seconds.
IPress either
(HOT) or(COLD) switch as desired. Temperature will change at a rate of 0.5ÉC (1ÉF)
each time a switch is pressed.

When battery cable is disconnected, trimmer operation is canceled. Temperature set becomes that of
initial condition, i.e. 0ÉC (0ÉF).

1 SET IN SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODE
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Set in self-diagnostic mode as follows. Within 10 seconds after starting engine (ignition switch is turned ªONº.), press
switch for at least 5 seconds.
©GO TO 2.
2 STEP 1 - ALL LEDs AND DISPLAY SCREEN ARE CHECKED
When switch's LED and display are functioning properly in STEP-1, LED and display will come on.

3 VERIFY ADVANCE TO SELF-DIAGNOSIS STEP 2
1. Turn temperature dial clockwise.
2. Does advance to self-diagnosis STEP 2?

Check Display & NAVI control unit.
4 VERIFY RETURN TO SELF-DIAGNOSIS STEP 1
1. Turn temperature dial counterclockwise.

Press(DEF) switch one time, temperature detected by ambient sensor is indicated on the display.
ECON shown in display indicates negative temperature reading.
NOTE:
If temperature shown on display greatly differs from actual temperature, check sensor circuit first, then inspect sensor.

3. Check Discharge AirNBHA0019S02031. Press MODE switch four times and D/F button.
2. Each position indicator should change shape.

3. Confirm that discharge air comes out according to the air dis-
tribution table at left.
Refer to ªDischarge Air Flowº (HA-25).
NOTE:
Confirm that the compressor clutch is engaged (visual inspection)
and intake door position is at FRESH when the DEF
is
selected.
Intake door position is checked in the next step.
If NG, go to trouble diagnosis procedure for mode door motor
(HA-75).
If OK, continue with next check.

IPress the temperature increase button until 32ÉC (85ÉF) is
displayed.
ICheck for hot air at discharge air outlets.
If NG, go to trouble diagnosis procedure for insufficient heating
(HA-121).
If OK, continue with next check.
With Navigation System
ITurn the temperature dial clockwise until 32ÉC (85ÉF) is dis-
played.
ICheck for hot air at discharge air outlets.
If NG, go to trouble diagnosis procedure for insufficient heating
(HA-121).
If OK, continue with next check.

7. Check ECON (Economy) ModeNBHA0019S02071. Set the temperature 75ÉF or 25ÉC.
2. Press ECON switch.
3. Display should indicate ECON (no AUTO).
Confirm that the compressor clutch is not engaged (visual
inspection).
(Discharge air and blower speed will depend on ambient, in-
vehicle and set temperatures.)
If NG, go to trouble diagnosis procedure for ECON (Economy)
mode (HA-128).
If OK, continue with next check.
