The inside tailgate release is designed to pro-vide a way to open the tailgate in the case of adischarged battery.The tailgate release (see illustration) ismounted on the tailgate.Yo u a n d y o u r f a m i l y s h o u l d f a m i l i a r i s e y o u r -selves with the location and operation of thetailgate release.
1. Open the lid (A) inside of the tailgate.2. Move the lever (B) to open the tailgate.3. Push out on the tailgate to open it.

The security alarm system is for alerting thesurrounding area of suspicious behaviour toprevent unlawful entry into the vehicle byoperating an alarm if a door, the tailgate orthe bonnet is opened when the vehicle has notbeen unlocked using the keyless entry systemor the keyless operation function.

The following methods can be used to cancelthe system when it is in the system prepara-tion mode or the system armed mode.zPressing the UNLOCK switch on theremote control switch.zPutting the operation mode in ON.zOpening any one of the doors or the tail-gate, when the system is in the systempreparation mode.
zHolding the keyless operation key andpressing the driver’s or front passenger’sdoor lock/unlock switch, or the tailgateopen switch to unlock the doors and thetailgate.

When the system is in the system armedmode, the alarm will be activated as followsif the vehicle is unlocked or if any of thedoors, tailgate or bonnet is opened using amethod other than the keyless entry system orthe keyless operation function.
NOTE
The function will be activated again if the fol-lowing operation is performed.zIf the doors and the tailgate are unlockedusing the keyless entry
system or the keyless
operation function.zIf the operation mode is put in on or ACC.
Cancelling the system

NOTE
zIf the bonnet is opened during the systempreparation mode, the system preparationmode is suspended.The system returns to the system preparationmode when the bonnet is closed.zIf the battery terminals are disconnectedwhile the system is in
the system preparation
mode, the memory will be erased.zIt is possible to regist
er up to 4 remote con-
trol switches.As long as they are registered, any of theremote control switches, other than the oneused to activate the system, can be used tocancel the system.If you want to register additional remotecontrol switches, please contact aMITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorised ServicePoint.zThe activation distance for keyless entry sys-tem is approximately 4 m.If it is not possible to lock or unlock thevehicle by pressing the switch at the correctdistance or the security alarm system cannotbe set or cancelled using the switch, the bat-tery may need to be replaced.Replace the battery at a MITSUBISHIMOTORS Authorised Service Point.
zIf the UNLOCK switch on the remote con-trol switch, or the driver’s or front passen-ger’s door lock/unlock switch is pressed andno door or the tailgate is opened within 30seconds, the doors and the tailgate will auto-matically relock. In this
case as well, the sys-
tem preparation mode will go into effect.zThe time between pressing of the UNLOCKswitch on the remote control switch, or thedriver’s or front passenger’s doorlock/unlock switch and automatic lockingcan be adjusted. Please consult aMITSUBISHI MOTORS Authorised ServicePoint.On vehicles equipped with Mitsubishi Multi-Communication System (MMCS), screenoperations can be used to make the adjust-ment. Refer to the separate owner’s manualfor details.

1. The inside alarm will be activated forapproximately 10 seconds. (except forvehicles equipped with the interior alarmsensor)2. The alarm will be activated for approxi-mately 30 seconds.The turn-signal lamps will flash, and thehorn (the siren for vehicles equipped withthe interior alarm sensor) will sound inter-mittently.3. The alarm will resume if unlawful actionsare taken again, even if the alarm hasstopped.

It is possible to halt the activation of an alarmusing the following methods:zPressing the LOCK or UNLOCK switchon the remote control switch.(After pressing of the LOCK switch, thevehicle will lock if all the doors and thetailgate are closed, after which the systempreparation mode will once again go intoeffect.)zPutting the operation mode in ON.zHolding the keyless operation key andlocking or unlocking the doors and thetailgate using the keyless operation func-tion.

Cancelling the alarm

NOTE
zWhen the ignition switch is turned to the“ON” position or the operation mode is putin ON, the buzzer sounds 4 times. This oper-ation indicates that the alarm was activatedwhile the vehicle was parked.Please check the inside of the vehicle to con-firm that nothi
ng was stolen.
zEven if the battery is disconnected, the alarmactivation memory will not be erased.

The driver’s switches can be used to operateall door windows. A window can be openedor closed by operating the correspondingswitch.Press the switch down to open the window,and pull up the switch to close it.If the switch for the driver’s window is fullypressed down/pulled up, the door windowautomatically opens/closes completely.If you want to stop the window movement,operate the switch lightly in the reverse direc-tion.
The passenger’s switches can be used to oper-ate the corresponding passenger’s door win-dows.Press the switch down for opening the win-dow, and pull up the switch for closing.

zBe sure to close the sunroof completelywhen washing the vehicle or when leavingthe vehicle.zBe careful not to put any wax on the weath-erstrip (black rubber) around the sunroofopening. If stained with wax, the weather-strip cannot maintain a weatherproof sealwith the sunroof.zAfter washing the vehicle or after it hasrained, wipe off any water that is on the sun-roof before operating it.zOperating the sunroof

In order to prevent theft, the Plug-in HybridEV System will not start unless a preregis-tered keyless operation key is used. (Immobi-lizer function)If you are carrying the keyless operation key,you can start the Plug-in Hybrid EV System.
The indicator lamp on the power switch turnsoff.The operation mode cannot be put in OFFunless the electrical parking switch ispressed.Electrical devices such as the audio andaccessory socket can be operated. Changing the operation mode
CAUTIONzWhen the Plug-in Hybrid EV System is notoperating, put the operation mode in OFF.Leaving the operation mode in ON or ACCfor a long time when the Plug-in Hybrid EVSystem is not operating may cause the auxil-iary battery to be discharged, making itimpossible to start the Plug-in Hybrid EVSystem. zWhen the auxiliary battery is disconnected,the current operation mode is memorized.After reconnecting the auxiliary battery, thememorized mode is selected automatically.Before disconnecting the auxiliary batteryfor repair or replacement, make sure to putthe operation mode in OFF. Be careful if you are not sure which opera-tion mode the vehicle is in when the auxil-iary battery is run down.zThe operation mode ca
nnot be changed from
